When you wear the stunning Guerlain Rouge G Rose Grenat, you don’t need much more makeup than lipstick

May 12, 2014 Paris B 62 Comments

Ugh, my love for Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks know no bounds! Ugh I say, because they’re such luxurious treats that cause a serious dent to the wallet, and to the head of someone who you throw this at. I always say the Rouge G is like a weapon. When they called it a lipstick bullet, I didn’t think they meant it literally until the Rouge G came along LOL! 😀

I have quite a thing for the Guerlain Rouge G formula and while the regular heavy silver bullet is luxury personified, Guerlain shows off their playful side in their few limited edition Rouge G offerings. I have a few of them from previous collections so when I saw that there was a new one out, I was champing at the bit to get at it!

As luck would have it, one of the limited edition beauties landed on my messy desk and with a squeal of delight, it was the one I was lusting after – Rouge G in Rose Grenat 864.

Guerlain has gone after all pink lovers’ hearts by making a limited edition bright pink case to house the limited edition Rose Grenat and a pale pink case to house its sibling Rose Glace (866) which is a light pink – a colour I wouldn’t wear.

But let me tell you about Rose Grenat, because it’s flying off the shelves, despite the hefty pricetag and if you still don’t know what the fuss is about Rouge G lipsticks, you have to get Rose Grenat because it embodies everything that’s wonderful about these creamy lipsticks. I hesitate to say “must have” but if pockets allow, this is a must have… unless you have Provocative 😉 Let me show you what I mean.

New! Diptyque L’Art du Soin Skincare for the Face – Now available in Malaysia!

May 9, 2014 Paris B 10 Comments

Famed perfumer and scented candle brand Diptyque has this year added a new feather to it’s proverbial cap – skincare. I first came across mention of it online but last month, much to my surprise, I came to know that we’ll be getting the Diptyque Skincare L’Art du Soin range right here in Malaysia and it hasn’t even been years since its launch! Gosh, we’re moving with the times aren’t we? 😀

It’s even more exciting to note that Malaysia is making the Diptyque L’Art du Soin skincare range available first, and we’re the first in Asia to have it available in May 2014. Well, until the rest of Asia catches up that is 😀 But it’s nice to be first for once, and not have to stare longingly at overseas launches, wondering when our turn will be.

The introductory skincare range is rather limited for now with just the basics available, and I had the privilege of taking a look at them during the press launch a month back, so you get a quick preview and overview ahead of its launch in stores next week (mid-May 2014 I think)

Boosting skin hydration with my fave Unitec Advanced Hydrating Essence from Taiwan

May 8, 2014 Paris B 26 Comments

I sometimes feel a little bad when I come across a product I like and realise that it’s not only not sold in the country (in this case, being Malaysia) but it’s also also impossible to find online. But then I remember that many of you lovelies are avid travellers so you’ll land your paws on highly raved products one way or another 🙂

This one I came across and have replenished, thanks to a lovely globetrotting friend, hails from Taiwan and from what I can tell, is only sold there. At least I haven’t come across it here in Malaysia.

unitec advanced hydrating essence serum

This product is the Unitec Advanced Hydrating Essence, as the name implies, a product that serves as a hydrating serum. If you are familiar with the famed Hydraluron then this has a similar function. It isn’t a moisturiser nor a toner. This is a serum that you use to boost the moisture and hydration in your skin and yes, this works!

See! See! Bobbi Brown now has a CC Cream too!

May 7, 2014 Paris B 28 Comments

With CC Creams now being the norm, it ought to come as no surprise when the big brands start releasing their own versions of what is popularly termed “colour correcting” creams. To be honest, with some products, there is scant difference between a BB Cream and a CC Cream. Both are tinted, both are used all over and while brands try their utmost to tell us that they’re different, lets face it, they’re basically the same thing.

So when Bobbi Brown released their CC Cream, I raised a sceptical brow. I do like the Bobbi Brown BB Cream. It’s one of the better versions I’ve tried out there (I don’t use Korean brands, it’s a personal quirk because I dislike that grey cast that makes me a relation to a decaying zombie) But CC Cream?!

bobbi brown cc cream

Well Bobbi Brown takes great pains to tell us that their CC Cream, which comes in 3 shades globally and 2 shades locally, is more of a colour correcting PRIMER than a face base. Now, that sort of honesty I can live with. There are 3 shades available – 01 Pale Nude (pink for fairer skintones) 02 Warm Nude (yellow for medium-darker skintones) and 03 Golden Nude (brown for dark skintones). In Malaysia, we only get Pale Nude and Warm Nude.

The thing is, to be perfectly honest, unless you already are compelled to use a makeup primer daily, I don’t quite see the point of this product. There, said it 😛 I have found a use for it, but I can’t say in all honesty that it’s a must have.
