Trying the Ecoya Hand & Body Lotion is almost turning me into a body lotion convert!

November 14, 2013 Paris B 20 Comments

Time was, when body lotion and even body butters featured in my body skincare routine, but it was that that ultimately turned me off because of the sticky feeling. You now that feeling don’t you? Ick! So I later turned to using body oil and never looked back.

But recently I was introduced to this hand and body lotion from Ecoya that had me a little intrigued. I knew Ecoya was an Australian brand of candles, but I didn’t know they had body care products too!

Ecoya jasmine sweet pea body lotion

The Ecoya Hand and Body Lotion comes in a few gentle scents and the one I have is Sweet Pea and Jasmine. These are the same scents available in Ecoya’s candle range so yes, you can smell like your favourite candle scent hehe! Now, I was a little concerned when I first saw the name because jasmine isn’t my favourite scent, but I was willing to give it a go for the greater good, as it were. I’m so happy I did!

The Ecoya Hand and Body Lotion is, as the name implies, a Moisturising lotion for hands and body. I used it mostly for my body, primarily my arms before I go to bed. Can be treating the face every evening and neglecting the scaly arms now, can we? 😛

The bottle is an elegant, tall bottle with a pump that dispenses just about the right amount of product. I like the opaque creamy bottle with the delicate lace print on it, and the light coloured label which shows you the name of the scent. It fits nicely in an elegant and contemporary setting. Very nicely done!

The lotion itself is quite impressive. It isn’t too runny and light, yet it isn’t sticky or oily on skin at all. For someone who dislikes using body lotion, I did find myself reaching for this one on some nights, by passing the body oils in its way.

Sweet Pea and Jasmine is labelled as a floral scent, which had me a little worried. I’m not exactly your biggest fan of floral scents. Thankfully, the sweet scent is quite light and not cloying at all. It is a delicate, gentle scent of flowers, lightly anchored with the heavier scent of jasmine. If you dislike the smell of jasmine like I do, then fear not. This doesn’t make me gag at all so that’s another point in its favour.

Ecoya jasmine sweet pea body lotion

My skin does feel softer on my arms with regular use but I am not so sure if it was just used for hands. It feels very light and absorbs very quickly into my skin and just doesn’t quite hit the spot for my hands. I also prefer my hand creams not to have too strong a scent, and especially not a floral scent so this isn’t something I’d use as a hand cream, but then I’m not into hand cream so don’t listen to me 😛

If you do use it just for hands, I can imagine it’ll last you quite a while! The downside of course, is that it’s a little pricey, but with Christmas just around the corner, I can tell you that this will make a very lovely gift 😉

In a nutshell

The Ecoya Hand and Body lotion is a skin moisturising lotion that leaves skin feeling lovely and soft and moisturized with regular use. It isn’t oily nor sticky at all, and leaves skin feeling almost velvety. I like it for use on my arms but I’m not sure if it’ll be good for very dry hands if you intend to use it as a hand cream. The scent is light, thankfully, and despite the floral nature, not cloying nor too strong. For someone who shies away from body lotion like it was a skin stripping acid, I have been reaching for this often for the past 2 months and that tells you something eh?

Pros: Light lotion absorbs easily, Not oily, Not sticky, Light scent is quite comforting

Cons: Not sure if it’ll serve well as a hand cream for dry hands, pricey

Who will like this: Anyone who hates regular body lotion, anyone who likes the lovely light floral scent

Here is the ingredient list for anyone interested.

I just picked up an Ecoya candle in French Pear and Lemongrass and Ginger and you know what? I think I want to get the body lotions too! Me? A confirmed body lotion hater? Yeah you heard it here first 😛

Have you tried Ecoya body lotions? Do you like their candles?

I picked up 2 candles recently at The Brand Story’s booth and dammit, I want even more! The Lemongrass and Ginger makes my house smell like a spa and immediately makes it feel absolutely wonderful. The sense of smell is a wonderful thing. Try it if you don’t agree! 😉

The bottle looks really elegant! Would look nice displayed on a makeup table top or bedside table 😉

I couldn’t find a store selling Ecoya in Melbourne, if you’d believe it! Ended up getting Glasshouse Candles instead and I love them!

Went shopping today for Ecoya candles in Melb. They sell them at David Jones, Myer and Karma Living. I also stopped to smell what Glasshouse had (very nice too).
I’m trying to find somewhere in Msia that also sells Ecoya. They only seem to have candles, could not find soaps or hand creams….

Hmm I was in David Jones but didn’t see Ecoya and no one knew anything about them 🙁 Still, I was very happy with Glasshouse Candles 😀 The local distributor brandstory.com.my carries the body lotion and candles. I’ve asked if they carry anything else so am waiting their response, although you could try emailing them to ask too on the off chance they do 🙂

I used to use their melted soy candle as a moisturiser too coz’ I’m in love with french pear. Perhaps they should come up with a body oil as well.

That’s the excellent thing about soy wax! It can function as a moisturiser too and French Pear is wonderful! I bought a candle in French Pear recently and just leaving the candle there makes the air smell so good. IF they have a body oil, I’d be first on the list to try LOL! 😀

yes yes yes….can’t agree more. The thing i love about these candles is that i can safely fragrance the room without lighting it. Hope the people at Ecoya are reading this and please come up with a body oil.

Their hand creams are best-selling items.

I’m not sure about very very dry skin. But it did keep the skin on my arms from drying out 🙂

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜
