Talika is a brand I associate primarily with Lipocils, the lash growth enhancing serum that impressively, works a treat. I’m actually toying with the idea of picking up a tube because I’ve recently discovered some bald spots in my already sparse lashes and I remembered how well it worked before to grow lashes in a bald spot.

They do some targeted skincare too, on a lower scale. Talika Lipocils is their bestseller, and rightly so. However, early this year, Talika launched their first proper skincare range in the Talika Photo-Beauty Therapy skincare line.

So, what distinguishes the Talika Photo-Beauty Therapy skincare from all the other skincare out there? Well, apparently they have found a Photo-Beauty Enzyme which naturally transforms light energy to repair damaged DNA in skin cells. So light is now our friend. If it all sounds very space-age, it is. They were inspired by aerospace energy because space research has shown that wounds don’t heal in space because there is no light so, cellular energy is reduced.

I don’t know. Are you sold on this?

Want this in a nutshell? This anti-wrinkle serum works as it says.

Yes, it also costs a pretty penny. Many many pretty pennies.

Let’s dial back a little. Swissline is a Switzerland based brand of skincare that is sold primarily through salons and spas. I have tried some samples of their anti-aging skincare before this and I have to say that for the most part, I have been impressed. The Cell Shock Total Lift Overnight Cream is one I particularly like. Very light textured and makes skin look very nice. Especially helpful if you have dry skin or aging skin or are in hotel rooms and travel a lot. I had a small sample pot that went travelling with me all the time. Lovely!

The Cell Shock 360º Anti-Wrinkle Serum Triple Collagen Complex was launched earlier this year in 2013 and is a serum that is targeted at lifting wrinkles, lines and plumping up dry skin. Also targeted at those with dry and more matured skin, this serum works to plump up skin collagen and make it more resilient and infuse it with moisture.

Whilst I won’t agree with it helping with moisture, I will agree that it does make lines look less apparent on skin. If you have naso-labial lines (or laugh lines) and lines on your forehead, then you will likely notice a lifting effect. Quite impressive.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation – Photoshop in a tube, once you get past the pitfalls

It’s taken me so long to warm up to the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation that I am unsure how to begin. I did like using the very popular and iconic Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser which I take in Porcelain, which is comfortable on skin and offered just enough tint to even out skintone. I’d never tried their full on foundations however, so the Silk Creme was the first. I had been curious for a while.

The Silk Creme foundation is what I’d consider a full coverage foundation because it does offer a lot of coverage. So much in fact, that it took me a while to work out that only a very very little bit is sufficient for a thin veil over the skin. Very little.

That was the first thing I had to get used to. The product comes in a small 35ml tube that really belies just how much product you need. I usually only squeeze out a little dot, and then use my brush because this foundation doesn’t take very kindly to fingers. The texture is very creamy so this is one that is more suited to those with a drier skintone i.e. me! For those with oily skins, there are other foundations in the range but you may find this one a bit heavy.

Because this is such a high coverage foundation, I find I have to be quite careful with it because I ran into the second snag – colour selection. This one is quite tricky!

Your Say: Do you prefer eyeshadow palettes or eyeshadow singles

I have been in an eye makeup rut for the longest time ever and even the thought of pulling out an eyeshadow palette in the mornings tire me. I just want something fast, and so I’ve been using a lot of cream shadows. But recently, I started making the effort to open the drawers again and experiment and things are getting better. Still in a rut, but slowing climbing back out.

Which is when I noticed that I have an inordinate number of eyeshadow palettes from various brands.

And I noticed that I tend to reach for palettes more than I do eyeshadow singles! In fact, I have relegated my eyeshadow singles to the lower drawers of my storage and that just simply means I reach for them less often. I mean, you don’t really want to be bending that far down in the mornings do you? You just want to pick out something easy and go.

So I started thinking – do you prefer using or owning eyeshadow palettes or singles? Or are you one of those who depots all their singles and put them into palettes anyway?
