Your Say: Do you have a favourite brand of facial cotton pads?

Hands up if you think this is a funny question 😀

I thought so too but its one I had been thinking about because I have realised that people have very set preferences for the most simple and basic of things. Facial cotton pads being one of them.

What say you, do you have a favourite facial cotton pad? The one that you think is THE. BEST. COTTON. PAD. EVER. MADE!

I actually don’t haha! But I’ll tell you about a few I’ve tried and what I think of them and the one I keep buying over and over again for a practical reason; and maybe you could tell me what your favourite is and whether we should all go out and buy that one instead 😉

Lancome Gloss in Love: Summer Lovin’ and having a Glittermania blast

In Love… in love… Lancome hopes you’ll fall in love with their new gloss offering – Gloss in Love, the follow up to the Rouge in Love lipsticks launched last year. Some of you may remember I disliked them. Oh yeah. About the only one in the world who did haha! Perhaps my expectations were too built up then. But I was taken unawares when I first heard about and received the Gloss in Love lipglosses so my mind was a little more open.

There are 12 shades available in highly shimmery and glittery textures (Edit: I stand corrected by Tracy! There are shades WITHOUT shimmer and glitter). The one I have here is #144 Glittermania. Oh yeah. It was! 😀

Those who have an aversion to glitter and shimmer in lip products will likely shy away in horror. The shimmer is not for the faint-hearted! But believe me, if you just take that one step forward and leave an open mind, it might just surprise you at how pretty it can be! I know, PB liking a lipgloss. Will wonders never cease 😉

Travel Tales: Ceský Krumlov – The Most Picturesque Town in Bohemia

Armchair travelogue again this week as I take you to the most picturesque and prettiest little town that I’d ever seen in Bohemia during my visit there … oh months ago now! The town is Ceský Krumlov, a UNESCO Heritage town located just over 3 hours bus ride from Prague city. I wasn’t too captured with it the first few hours I was there, but it grew on me and by the time I left, I was pretty much in love with it!

I was there in late Spring so the trees were sprouting lovely new green leaves and flowers were starting to bloom but we hit a cold spell while I was visitng so the skies were a little dreary.

The primary attraction in Cesky Krumlov is the castle. The medieval castle here is second only to Prague Castle in size in the Czech Republic! When I got there though, I was curious. Where was the castle? There were no towering spires or rocky castle walls, nor was there a huge walled-up compound. It was only when I took the walking tour did I realise that everything I saw across the river (that’s on your left of the photo above) is essentially, the castle. On the right is the town, and they were separated by the Vltava River. Ok, its HUGE!

I shared this piece of news a few days ago on Facebook that Kanebo Cosmetics Inc was discontinuing the manufacture and sale of selected whitening products from 3 ranges of skincare, but was waiting for the info from the Malaysian offices before I posted a quick PSA.

Basically, about 39 complaints were initially received from customers in Japan that they suffered skin staining or discolouration and white blotches on the skin after using some Kanebo Cosmetics products, which contain 4HPB or Rhododenol 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol a product developed by Kanebo Cosmetics Inc. and used in their whitening ranges of skincare since 2008. This ingredient was certified safe by the Department of Health in Japan and over 4 million bottles of skincare products. Update: The number of affected people in Japan has increased to over 2000 (source)

Due to the recent complaints received in Japan, and pending investigation of the cause and effect of Rhododenol on skin, Kanebo Cosmetics has voluntarily decided to temporarily discontinue production of their products which contain 4HPB or Rhododenol and in Japan, to recall the products which have already been sold.
