Fast, Easy, Effective Liquid Foundation Application Tutorial – 5 Lines, 1 Perfect Base (Backstage Tip from Dior Makeup Artist Junior Cedeño)

May 21, 2013 Paris B 78 Comments

apply foundation tips dior junior cedeno

I love learning new and different ways to apply my foundation base. I used to use my fingers a lot, and when I was taught the super quick way of using my palm to spread the foundation on my skin, I was sold. I used this method for a long time, until I came upon the Perfect Foundation Brush. Then, it was brushes all the way for me.

I’ve shared a few Makeup Artist tips for applying foundation (Clinique, Lunasol, Estee Lauder, Dior) but here’s one from a Dior Pro-team International Makeup Artist that I just have to share by way of a tutorial, because not only is it fast, its easy and error free and importantly, gives me a beautiful base every single time 😀 Makeup Artist to the stars, Junior Cedeño applied this for me, using the Diorsnow BB Creme but I’ve since tried it with BB Cream and liquid foundation, and it works very well for both.

This is now my go-to method for applying base and if you can draw lines (doesn’t even have to be straight lines!), you will love it too! 😀

Can Clinique’s CC Cream Correct Colour and Cover Colourless Complexion Conveniently?

May 20, 2013 Paris B 33 Comments

clinique CC Cream

I happened to be at a mall on the weekend, when I noticed the promo images for the Clinique CC Cream had gone up at the Clinique counter. Probably a good time then, for me to let you know what I think about this 🙂 Yes, Clinique too has taken a gander at the CC Cream. Has anyone not done so? 😛

I have to tell you I was quite interested in it because you see, I can’t use the Clinique BB Cream. The shade is too dark for me and a sample left my skin looking dull. So, when I saw that the Clinique CC Cream comes not only in skintone shades but also in illuminating shades, and furthermore, comes under the Moisture Surge category, my interest was a bit more piqued.

What Clinique was keen to impress on me, as I am to impress on you, is that the CC Cream is a Colour Correcting Cream. What this means is that isn’t a foundation, nor does it try to be one. It instead, serves to correct and neutralize your skintone to reduce sallowness and to give you a brighter, more natural glow to your skin. Think of it rather more like a colour correcting makeup base than a foundation or foundation substitute and you will be less disappointed. Because, if you don’t, you might be.

Travel Tales: 10 Things You Can Do In Prague, Czech Republic

May 19, 2013 Paris B 43 Comments

prague

I can’t believe its already been 2 weeks since I returned from my vacation to the Czech Republic, a place I’ve always wanted to visit for the longest time ever. I fulfilled my dream to visit the beautiful “City of 100 spires” aka Praha or Prague as we know it and I thought I’d share some of the things you can do while you’re there, because quite a few of you had expressed interest to visit.

If your plan is to shop till you drop then Prague isn’t for you. Let’s just get that out of the way because I’ve met more than a few people in my time who, at the mention of Europe, start to get that Chanel sparkle in their eyes. There is good shopping to be had in Prague, but its not the best place for that. What its worth going for is the views, and architecture and to just soak up the atmosphere of an old city, relatively undamaged by the various wars and political upheavals they’ve undergone, and just live for a little while.

I was there towards the middle of Spring which I was told, is not exactly a wonderful time, because the weather can get a little wonky. They had a long cold winter and were just starting to thaw out by April so when I arrived, the weather was a warm (almost hot) 25°C and I was quite disappointed. 2 days later, the temperature plummeted to the low teens and down till about 4°C. Its apparently better in Autumn when the weather is more stable but in Spring, you’ll see the beautiful flowers  in bloom everywhere so it has its attractions.

I thought I’d share 10 things you can do in Prague, in case you think of visiting, and it serves as a quick introduction to the city and what I did while I was there 🙂 So, strap yourselves in your chair, we’re going on an armchair holiday with quite a few pictures to go through! 😀

New! Add a Vitamin Boost to skin with Estee Lauder Nutritious Radiant Vitality Skincare

May 17, 2013 Paris B 34 Comments

estee lauder nutritious vita radiance skincare

If you remember, back during the MWS 6th Anniversary giveaway series, I gave away a very exclusive item that had not yet even been launched at the time. It was the Estee Lauder Nutritous Radiant Vitality Essence Oil and I’m hoping the winner is enjoying hers, because I am really enjoying mine! I’ll be telling you more about it next week.

Today I wanted to just let you know about the new additions to the Estee Lauder Nutritious skincare range and a little about what this range is about. The Nutritious skincare range in its distinctive red packaging has been on the shelves since its introduction in 2007 and its a bit surprising, but I’ve never seen it pushed very aggressively.

I remember being interested in it back then and I may have tried a little sample and I was intrigued, because red is very eye catching, but if you go to the counter, you will be introduced the hydrating range (blue) or anti-aging range (pink/purple) and rarely, and almost never, the Nutritious range. I always wonder why.

With Nutritious, Estee Lauder extracts the benefits of the pomegranate fruit in their new proprietary Pomegranate Nectar Infusion which contains anti-oxidants, skin boosting nutrients, moisture and energy. Almost like a power drink for your skin. Have you ever tried this range?
