BB Cream: The Next Generation with Estee Lauder Cyberwhite HD Advanced Brightening BB Balm

April 3, 2013 Paris B 24 Comments

estee lauder cyberwhite hd advanced brightening BB Balm

A little while ago, when I told you about the new Estee Lauder Cyberwhite HD range, I mentioned briefly the BB Balm. Now, we’ve been inundated in recent years by the whole BB craze with every brand and their aunty coming out with one form of BB Cream or another. Some work well, some don’t. Some skip the BB trend and go straight to CC 😛

I tested the Estee Lauder BB Cream that came in a tube a little while ago but I wasn’t too impressed, because I have a problem with shade. In many cases, the “One shade fits all” BB creams turn out to be too dark for my skintone. I appreciate it when brands realise that there is no “One shade fits all” product and come out with different shades. So when Estee Lauder unveiled their next generation BB Cream with the Cyberwhite HD Advanced Brightening BB Balm SPF30 PA++ product that comes in just 1 shade, I felt a little trepidation.

So, what’s this “BB Balm” you ask?

Tip: Know when you need a break and 3 more tips for dealing with stress

April 2, 2013 Paris B 63 Comments

take a break

I don’t like whinging and whining (Ok, I do it a lot but I’m trying to curb the habit) but sometimes in life, we get stressed up to our eyeballs and we feel like our heads are about to explode. You don’t get that? Ah just me then 😛 Please tell me I’m not alone.

It could be a combination of various factors – work, life, relationships, family etc. I was experiencing a combination of factors and it had gotten so bad I was having trouble sleeping. When I did sleep, it wasn’t a restful sleep and I’d wake up feeling more tired than when I went to bed. I knew then that I had reached my breaking point. I wasn’t being productive in anything I did and it felt like everything was spiralling out of control. I could throw my hands up and crawl into a hole and never come out again, or I could take a break.

The thing about taking a break is this. It doesn’t have to be a holiday. All you need, is a break from your routine to remind yourself that YOU and your wellbeing are just as important as everything else. In fact, I’d highly recommend taking a work day off. Knowing you do not have to go to work when everyone else does lifts your spirits already 😀

I’d like to just share some tips I have because I just recovered from a very highly stressed period when I just felt highly strung all the time, and when nothing I did seemed to be productive at all. If you have your tips to share, please do. We can all benefit from learning from each other 🙂

So Near, So Close, Almost Paradise : Guerlain Meteorites Perles du Paradis just miss the mark

April 1, 2013 Paris B 38 Comments

guerlain meteorites perles du paradis spring 2013

Sometimes, you want something so badly and then when you get it, you’re all, “Meh, is that it? Is this what I waited for?”

Without preamble, this is how I feel about the Guerlain Meteorites Perles du Paradis. You know I love my Meteorites powders. I wax lyrical about them all the time, and I usually love them one way or another, even the rather warm Pucci Perles d’Azur Meteorites, or the slightly sparkly Perles de Nuit Meteorites. In fact, I wish they’d make the Perles de Nuit permanent because that gives you the most perfect candlelit glow I have ever come across. You don’t know what that word means till you actually see it, and Perles de Nuit reflects it perfectly.

Perles du Paradis however… lets just say I’m not enamoured. I know, its almost sacriligous coming from me but here you go!

Win! Dior Diorsnow White Reveal Wipe Off Gel Exfoliator worth RM155

diorsnow exfoliator

Ah, all good things must come to an end, and this is the final giveaway in the MWS 6th Anniversary Giveaway series. Regulars will know that giveaways aren’t a commonplace thing here at MWS but when we do have them, we make sure we do them BIG! 😀

I’d like to thank everyone for participating, and also to the various brands for their generosity. I handpicked some of my favourite brands for this one and I am gratified that they were willing to oblige, and with such lovely gifts too!

We round off this series of giveaways with one of my fave brands and a product that is a personal fave and which I think is a good one, provided you use it right 🙂 Today’s giveaway is a full size Diorsnow White Reveal Wipe Off Gel Exfoliator worth RM155.

What this is, is a non abrasive skin exfoliator that removes dead skin cells and helps reveal better skin and refined pores. I find this one a little drying, so I use it just 1-2 times a week and I am a big fan of wipe off exfoliators. The effect may be to help skin look brighter, but the immediate effect is to clear your skin so whatever product you use is more effective. Unlike serums or treatment products that can actually brighten skin, this doesn’t. Think of it rather like a face scrub without the scrubby bits and you will get the general idea. Do read my full review of this product to know what I’m talking about 🙂

For logistical purposes (its heavy!) this one is open only for anyone with a mailing address in MALAYSIA only. This is open WORLDWIDE! 🙂
