Affordable Lavender Body Oils I Like from Weleda and Pangea Organics

April 18, 2013 Paris B 45 Comments

weleda lavender body oil and pangea organics lavender cardamom oil

Regular readers will know how attached I am to using body oils. So attached, I even made my case out for them. They are the only body moisturisers I use. Not lotions, butters or creams. I hate those. But I love a good body oil. I also know my tastes in body oils run to the expensive (REN Moroccan Rose and Antipodes Heavenly Oil come to mind). Not my fault that you need good oils to make a good body oil, you know 😛

But there are 2 oils that I’ve been using for a while that are relatively affordable and which are quite good as well. So I thought I’d let you know about them, if you want to experiment with body oils but aren’t sure about plonking down the cash for the pricier ones.

There is a slight problem in that I’m not sure if we get either one locally in Malaysia. They both happen to be natural/organic skincare brands and I don’t hang out enough in stores selling organic or natural produce to know if they stock these, so if you do know, please feel free to share the information in the comments.

Sleek Makeup Lagoon and Showstoppers i-Divine palettes add colour to your day

April 17, 2013 Paris B 33 Comments

sleek lagoon showstoppers palettes

Sleek Makeup (aka Sleek to many) came up with 2 more new limited edition i-Divine eyeshadow palettes this year. They seem to be doing it quite often don’t they? The first of these was available about a month ago in the limited edition Spring 2013 Aqua collection. The eyeshadow palette, which  you can see on your right of the image above, is the Lagoon i-Divine palette.

The other palette that has just become available online only for a limited time this month, is the Showstoppers palette. You can see the palette on your left in the photo above, and what it is, is a collection of shadows from the various i-Divine eyeshadow palettes launched by Sleek Makeup. Ostensibly, its the best of the best – the best shadows from each of Sleek’s best palettes to date. I think that’s a nice little concept but… yes, there is a but.

I’ll run them down quickly for you with swatches so you have an idea of what to expect. That said, if you are familiar with Sleek Makeup i-Divine palettes, you should already know what to expect, right? 😉

Your Say: Do cosmetics or department store mailers interest you and do you find them useful?

April 16, 2013 Paris B 32 Comments

cosmetics mailers flyers

These days, you can barely move for some company, department store or counter wanting to sign you up for some loyalty card or programme or other. I think most of us would have signed up or provided our personal details for something or another on the basis that more points = better chances to redeem something (nevermind that we may not quite care for the point redemption in the first place)

Often, we’ll then find mailers arriving in our postbox as new promotions pop in in store or at the various brands that we have signed up for. I’m curious as to whether you pay attention to these mailers, or do they just go into your junk mail pile? Do you even read them?

Lipstick Bandits: The Délice-ful delight that is Coral lipstick

April 15, 2013 Paris B 50 Comments

dior addict extreme delice and dior addict extreme gloss delice

If you’ve ever seen the colour of corals in the ocean, they come in every shade of the rainbow. So technically, a coral coloured lipstick could be blue or green or yellow. But we’d look rather strange walking around with blue, green or yellow lips (beautiful if we were tropical fish, less beautiful on humans, I can assure you) so the most common shade we associate with “Coral” is a reddish-orange.

The Lipstick Bandit assignment this time is to pick a coral lipstick. There was a bit of a debate as to what entails the colour “Coral” but I’ve always associated it with the reddish orange of a coral trout. Ever seen one? (If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat!) I think that’s where the color “Coral” comes from. I picked a coral lipstick once for the summer edition last year so I was a little stumped because as much as I love the bright shade that is coral, I realised I don’t own many. But as I started to despair, as providence would have it, along came a coral delight 😀
