Newsflash: Free Eve Lom Cleanser Samples and a mini meet-up!

January 23, 2013 Paris B 21 Comments

eve lom sample

Want to know what the best cleanser in the world (as claimed by Vogue) feels like? Well, now you can! 😀

From Friday 25 January 2013, you can stop by any Eve Lom counter to pick up a free sample sachet of the Eve Lom Cleanser complete with the signature muslin cloth, so you can try it at home. One sachet should get you about 2 uses. To get the most out of it, be sure to check with the SA on the recommended ways to use it 🙂

There are limited quantities available at each counter and it is available on a first come first served basis. Tell them you were referred by “MyWomenStuff.com blog” and that’s it! No purchases necessary 🙂

You can pick this up at Eve Lom counters at Parkson Pavilion KL, Parkson KLCC, Parkson 1 Utama and Parkson Gurney Plaza (can I hear a cheer from the ladies up North in Penang?! 😀 )

One more thing: If you are planning to be in the KLCC area on Saturday 26 January 2013 read on 😉

Your Say: How dedicated are you to collecting brand loyalty points to redeem vouchers or products?

January 22, 2013 Paris B 60 Comments

brand loyalty memberships

Every now and again, I make purchases from different counters and every now and again I get the same questions “Are you a XXX Brand member?” It appears that every brand has their own loyalty membership system now aside from the department store loyalty memberships. I know its a way for the brand to track their customer’s spending patterns and what they buy and the members benefits are just to sidetrack us from this.

Recently, I went to the Dior counter to pick up the Spring blushes for friends and when they pulled up my record, it showed that I’ve been to 2 other Dior counters to apparently pick up the same items 😛 It was quite creepy, and I can tell you the sales assistant was puzzled but to her credit, she didn’t say anything, just asked if the other counter did not have what I wanted haha! No, it did, I told her. I’m just getting more. She must think I snort blush or something 😛

But the thing is this though – I don’t monitor my loyalty points nor do I actually know or care how many points I get. I know I don’t usually get enough points to redeem anything. Last year, I received a few statements from some brands I’d signed up as members for. I saw that in one brand, I wasn’t too far from being able to redeem a cash voucher, while in another, I was light years away from redeeming anything. The first brand even called me up to tell me to top up my purchases so I could get a voucher.

So, did I go and top up my points so I could redeem a cash voucher? Or maybe did I top up purchases to be able to redeem something? Would you?

Just Sampling: Chanel CC Cream – A Complete Correction Cream With 5-in-1 Benefits

January 21, 2013 Paris B 55 Comments

We’ve had our fair share of BB Creams around that started out in Asia and have now exploded worldwide. It seems like every year brings a new brand with a new BB Cream. This year, Clarins will be joining in the fun. And yet, for some brands, BB (Blemish Balm) just isn’t enough. They differentiate themselves by having CC creams instead. CC Cream, according to our good friend, Wikipedia, means “Color Control” creams and is supposed to be a more refined version of BB Cream with higher SPF, better coverage and a less oily texture. Think BB Cream V2.0 – everything you did not like in a BB Cream improved.

The brand that first popularized CC Creams was Rachel K back in 2011 – you can see it in Watson’s stores locally and I will share my thoughts on the brand soon. I had seen it popping up on blogs back then and I’d seen it while browsing Watson’s stores in Singapore but never bothered to try because I still don’t do the whole all-in-one thing, the same way I don’t buy into BB Creams. Then last year, rumblings surfaced of Chanel doing a CC Cream for the Asian market.

My personal prejudices aside, I recently received a flyer in the mail to inform that the Chanel CC Cream was available here in Malaysia and that I could hop down to pick up a sample. So I did.

Suffice to say, I had a terrible experience at the Chanel counter, where a big song and dance was made about the fact I didn’t bring the flyer to collect the sample. It was interesting because there were no instructions to bring the flyer along, as was insisted. So we started off on a bad foot, Chanel and I.

That aside, I ended up with a 1ml sachet of CC Cream after standing my ground and telling them to check the system where my records are, and having provided personal details. What this means is if you don’t have the flyer, you couldn’t get a sample. Makes a lot of sense to me, Chanel! Anyway, I roadtested it for a day so this isn’t a comprehensive review by any means. It is my “Just Sampling” review to reflect the sampling bit and just to share my perceptions on texture, mostly.

Bag Lust: Gucci Vintage Web Boston Bag – You will be mine!

January 20, 2013 Paris B 28 Comments

A little while ago, I was bemoaning the size of the LV Speedy 25. As the number indicates, it is about 25cm long and although its a good size, its just not quite big enough for my daily needs. Since then, I was gripped in a fever to get a similar handheld tote but larger. And one fateful day, my footsteps led me to the doors of the Gucci store.

Gucci, like LV and the many designer brands out there, is a very popular brand for the pirates. So, yes, the monogram of the interlocking GG does turn me off somewhat. But I also learnt that Gucci makes beautiful leather bags. They are pricey as per normal, but the quality is very good and if you ask me, they are quite underrated in this regard. I used to see loads of people toting Gucci everywhere quite a few years ago but now, I don’t see them around very much anymore. The young especially, seem to shy away, preferring to go for LV. Well, it might be a good thing because I’ve actually noticed some really nice new designs popping up in Gucci that I’d prefer not to share 😉

Oh and not forgetting the Gucci classic – the Boston Bag.

As I was saying, I walked into the Gucci store to look around and my eye was immediately and irresistably drawn to this on the shelf behind the very friendly and pleasant SA. I have a thing for handheld totes in this design. Its not only very practical – no space wastage and the soft leather means you can fit a lot in there if you have to – its also very classic and will not go out of style.

Do you go for bags in this design? Or do you prefer the hobo style shoulder bags?
