Travel Tales: Hansar Hotel Bangkok – Experiencing one of the top 5 Hotels in Bangkok

January 27, 2013 Paris B 35 Comments

hansar hotel bangkok

When I go to Bangkok, I am usually a budget traveller. Many aspects of Bangkok aren’t expensive and hotel accommodation is one of them. You can quite easily get a fairly decent hotel in a fairly decent and convenient location for just about RM100/night and that’s where I usually stay.

During this most recent trip however, I wanted to do something different for once. I wanted to stay somewhere nice, just because! I asked around and looked around online and came across Hansar Hotel Bangkok, that used to rank as the #1 hotel in Bangkok on Tripadvisor and on my trip, ranked #4. It came highly raved and with a pretty price tag but, I just had to jump at it 😀

With a name like Heavenly Body Oil, this oil by Antipodes can only feel like one thing – Heaven!

January 25, 2013 Paris B 30 Comments

Now who hasn’t heard that I love body oils? None of you regular ‘uns I’d warrant 😀 For the uninitiated, I am a huge huge fan of body oils and any body oil that even remotely looks interesting ends up in my ever growing collection, one way or another. I do use them daily so they don’t go bad, thank goodness! I’m in fact already on my way to finished a large bottle which is quite an accomplishment!

The “problem” I’d say is that body oils aren’t terribly popular locally here in Malaysia where body lotions and creams still rule the day. I don’t use the latter. Dislike them in fact. So, when I find a body oil available locally that feels good and importantly, which I found to actually help my skin look better, I just have to tell you about it 😀

The body oil in question is by Antipodes and is quite aptly named “Heavenly Body Oil” 😀 Antipodes, as we have previously learnt here, here and here, is a brand of natural and organic skincare originating from New Zealand.

I had been using the Heavenly Body Oil for quite a while but I never felt the need to talk about it until recently when I noticed that the skin on my arms weren’t looking as crepey as they sometimes do. It in fact, looked and felt smoother than it looked previously. So that got me thinking that maybe, just maybe, not all body oils are made the same way. And maybe, just maybe, the Antipodes Heavenly Body Oil has given my skin something a little extra.

MWS Sneak Peek: Guerlain Blanc de Perle Blush G Sakura Cherry Blossom Blush – I have my eyes on YOU!

January 24, 2013 Paris B 58 Comments

I just received the official news about the upcoming Guerlain Blanc de Perle skincare and makeup range yesterday and I just had to show you the one item in the whole collection that I have my eyes on. Not eye, mind you, eyes!

I believe that the Blanc de Perle skincare range is released only in Asia but do correct me if I’m wrong. The reason this is so, is because this is the whitening range for Guerlain, and as we all know, Asia is where whitening is all the rage. I personally have not used anything from the Guerlain Blanc de Perle skincare range although I’ve been told that the sunscreen isn’t bad. I plan to pick up the Super Aqua serum soon so I’m not about to delve into the whitening products of this brand just yet.

This is one of 2 images for the Blanc the Perle range, and as you can see, it reflects the luminous ethereal effect which is promised when you use the Blanc de Perle skincare and makup. The pink on the cheeks appear to be that of the Blush G Sakura blush – a beautiful pink palette housed in a lovely white compact.

If you like pink blushes as I do, you might have to go and lie down after this to slow the pitter patter of your heartbeat after viewing the picture of the blush 😉

Sleek Makeup and some Sparkle 2 to help you look oh, so i-Divine!

January 23, 2013 Paris B 36 Comments

Sleek Makeup. No more a stranger to most of us, with their i-Divine eyeshadow palettes taking top billing in the budget eyeshadow palette category. They do seriously take the cake for pigmented shadows and at US$9.99 / £7.99 (approx RM30-40 depending on exchange rate) for 12 shadows, one can hardly complain.

Occasionally, Sleek Makeup comes up with limited edition palettes sold alongside their permanent line and this was the case towards the end of 2012.

We were presented with the limited edition Sparkle 2 i-Divine eyeshadow palette. A palette of 12 sparkly eyeshadows for the party season. I especially liked the box for this one. It looked suitably festive and I like how Sleek prints the names of the palette on the cover of the case now. It makes it easier to spot the one you want amongst the rest of your i-Divine palettes 🙂 Its still available on the website actually, so you can still get it while stocks last and as I will show you below, it isn’t all as sparkly as the name implies.

In this handy little compact then, is a selection of shimmer shadows and glitter eyeshadows. Personally, I felt this palette was a bit hit and miss. I’ll show you why.
