With Night Golds on Eyes and Diorific Diva on Lips you will be the belle of the Grand Bal

A week or so back, I showed you the Dior Grand Bal palette for Christmas. Its a very lovely palette by all accounts, especially if you have parties to attend. But not all of us are the partying sort, right? Some of us will prefer an eye palette that you can use daily and dress up or down as you will.

Ladies, I present you the Dior 5 Couleur Eyeshadow Palette in Night Golds. The minute I laid my eyes on it, I knew this was going to be a winner in my books. There’s actually another reason why I thought so, but I’ll tell you it at the end of the post hehe…

The Dior Night Golds palette is the deeper counterpart to the Fairy Golds palette (RougeDeluxe has a picture of both palettes here). I just knew when I saw the colours that Night Golds was made for me. The golds are not too warm nor too shiny, with just the right amount of cool tones to suit my skintone very well. The deep blackened brown with gold shimmer is the right intensity to pull the look together or to smoke out your eyes for a lovely sultry look. Night Golds is a beautiful palette, and one that has very good texture too, as the swatches below will show you.

As for the lipstick, lets just say that Dior was quite certainly digging deep, to resurrect a lipstick they saw fit to discontinue. I have to say that I used to own a Diorific lipstick. It was given to me by someone, and it was a deep purple. It was my first introduction to Dior lipsticks and because of it, I stayed far away until I got hold of the Dior Addict and Rouge Dior and fell back in love with Dior lipsticks.

Its been raining a lot here in Malaysia. I mean, we are a tropical country after all and prone to having a monsoon season every now and again, but lately, its been ridiculous. Every day at about 3-4pm the skies close in, the clouds turn black and we brace ourselves for rain.

When it rains, its torrential, and it doesn’t stop for anything. When the rains are near the sky is heavy, dark and overcast, everything is grey and there is this ominous sense of forebrooding in the air. Its nice of course to be indoors, and nice to have the warm heat alleviated by the cool rains, and almost cold winds. But when it happens daily, I’ve found that it affects my mood.

The Trish McEvoy Bronzer 37 Brush aka What I use to apply Guerlain Meteorites powder

I think I’ve established a reputation for loving the Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Pearls 🙂 Another very common question after “What am I supposed to see on my skin?” is “What brush do I use with this?” Guerlain makes a specific brush for use with their Meteorites. Its a short handled brush and its got pink bristles which I know sends every girl out there into a cute frenzy. In the recent Pucci collection they had a blue bristled brush which was limited edition.

I’ve felt up these so-called Meteorites brushes but for the most part, I don’t like them because they feel stiff and scratchy on my skin and for the asking price, I think its terribly steep. However, I realised that what the brushes had in common was that they were dense, yet pliable. So I went off on my own search and stumbled on the brush I use quite by mistake.

I had purchased the Trish McEvoy Bronzer 37 brush because I wanted a brush I could use to learn to apply bronzer with and this brush came highly raved. The natural hair bristles are lovely and soft on the skin, yet it is densely packed and pliable. The head is tapered to a dome shape, and it is supposed to be excellent for bronzer because it allows you to deposit the powder precisely on skin.

I worked out eventually that I did not like using it for bronzer but I had to find another use for it, because its a pricey little thing. One day, I tried it out with the Meteorites powder and the rest, as they say, is history!

I think there’s something in the psyche of girls or people in general, to want to belong. And when you hang out with people of similar tastes and dressing, some of it is bound to rub off. Not always a bad thing, I can assure you 🙂

But I wonder how you feel about friends buying the same accessories you have? Not clothes, but accessories e.g. wallets, bags, shoes etc. Do you ever feel like saying “Hang on, that’s my look!”

I found this picture on LVMH and this is pretty much an extreme case, I’d say LOL! Its almost scary how similar they all look eh? But assume something less extreme. Assume that its just the clutch that is the same item. Do you feel awkward about friends buying the same thing you have, even in a different colour? Do you feel honoured that someone would want what you have? Or do you not care either way? Curious minds want to know! 😉
