Alrighty then. I know its been a while but I’ve finally got the results ofthe MWS Readers’ Choice Awards 2012! 😀
I will tell you that some of the shortlisted products and brands surprised me and when I tabulated the winners in each category, it was like you’d read my mind. So without too much ado, here are your winning choices, and the winners of the Celebrate October giveaway.
If there’s one thing I love other than beauty (naturallement!) is travel. Its what keeps me going at work, knowing that what I do helps fund my wanderlust. And when I travel, I rarely carry my favourite scents with me, because a) I don’t have miniatures of them; b) some if not all bottles aren’t travel friendly and c) I don’t decant anything much less fragrances. So, when I received a surprise gift of the J’adore Purse Spray for my birthday, I could not contain a little squeal of delight. Here finally, was one of my favourite scents in a travel spray!
As you can see, the regular J’adore bottle isn’t conducive to travel at all. The long neck and cap, albeit elegant does not lend itself well to packaging, and the glass bottle would be a disaster if it broke. When I travel I tend to carry with me random perfume miniatures I pick up here and there but some scents aren’t something I particularly like. I realise there are travel perfume sprays available, where you can decant your favourite perfume to take on the go but lets just say I don’t quite like doing because I’m a klutz and perfumes are expensive things to make a mistake with, and the design is lost. Call it a personal quirk.
This one from Dior comes as a case, with 3 x 20ml refills. Its very handy, because its small enough to fit in your handbag, yet large enough to hold comfortably in your hand.

If there’s one pampering luxury I enjoy, it is a good body massage. And I recently realised that I hadn’t gone for one in ages. Months, in fact. My shoulders had been feeling very stiff lately, and I suddenly remembered that early in the year, I’d purchased some credit at Energy Day Spa. No better time than the present to use it (and the best part is that since I’ve already paid for it, I didn’t have to feel guilty or extragavant – yay! 😉 )
A while ago, I experienced a massage at Energy Day Spa at Great Eastern Mall, Ampang. Whilst I enjoyed it, I didn’t like going there, because traffic is killer and I didn’t want to be all zen and relaxed after my massage only to have it all undone by the traffic. So, I have made the Mont Kiara branch my regular and I love it!
Energy Day Spa, as the name implies, has various spa packages that includes facials and body massage. They use Swissline skincare products in store and also are the distributors of the premium salon based skincare line. I don’t go for facials however. I go for their body massages which I find consistently quite good and relaxing.
I love body oils but I always passed over Bio-Oil in the pharmacy. It could be the plain packaging or the rather unattractive ads on TV. Or it could also be that I am quite picky about oils I put on my face, and for my body, I go for something that relaxes. I was offered a chance to try this quite a few months ago so I decided to give it a go.
When my sister was pregnant, we were doing some research on how to combat stretch marks and one of the oils that came recommended was Bio-Oil (She eventually went with Clarins, however. Thank goodness too, because that smells a heck of a lot better!) From what I remember of the TV ads, this oil also helps to reduce scarring, uneven skin tone and ageing skin.
There is a whole host of things Bio-Oil is supposed to be able to do for skin on body and face, so I was raring to give it a go.
