Alrighty! Hands up whoever has tried Yves Rocher products?
You can’t see it, but I have my hand firmly DOWN because you know what? I’ve never tried anything from the brand. I didn’t even know where to find a Yves Rocher store in the city until recently! (Fahrenheit 88 mall btw) The thing is, I had seen the store before in some of the outlying malls a few years ago, but I’d never wandered in because it says Yves Rocher – France and it was so well laid out, I had it in my head that it was expensive. France, you know…
So it was with great surprise that I found out quite recently, that it isn’t. It in fact, could be considered pretty affordable, if not outright cheap for a brand of skincare that is said to be the No. 1 selling brand in France. Ladies from France, please confirm this? 😉
Yves Rocher has recently launched a new botanical skincare line worldwide called Hydra Vegétal and with a name like that, and the soothing light blue packaging, you just know that its all about moisture. You’d be right too!
Yves Rocher as a brand focuses on the use of botanical ingredients in their skincare i.e. derived from plants. Hydra Vegétal harneses the active ingredients from 2 plants that live in extreme climates – the Canadian Maple Tree in the extreme cold, and the Organic Blue Agave in the arid dry deserts of Mexico – to address problems of hydration and moisture in skin. What this Hydra Vegétal range is supposed to do add moisture into skin and lock in that moisture to help keep skin hydrated all day long.
Its quite opportune for this to appear on my horizon at this time because my skin has suddenly decided to rebel and turn dry again. Gah!
I have just started trying out one or two items in the range so I have no thoughts on it yet. I will definitely share my thoughts when I’ve a more informed view, because price wise, its very attractive.
How attractive you ask? Well, very!
- Hydra Vegétal 24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream (RM59/50ml) – a light gel-cream texture for normal to combination skin
- Hydra Vegétal Moisture Boost Concentrate (RM99/30ml) – A light textured concentrate, or what we’d more commonly recognise as a serum that boosts hydration almost immediately. It is advised to use a moisturizer over it to seal in the goodness
- Hydra Vegétal Hydrating Cleansing Milk (RM49/200ml) – a light lotion based cleanser that is supposed to remove makeup while not drying out the skin
- Hydra Vegétal Hydrating Toner (RM49/200ml) – a toner, if you use it, that tones skin without drying it out the way normal toners do
- Hydra Vegétal Refreshing Gel Cleanser (RM49/125ml) – quite self-explanatory in that it cleans skin without drying it out
Nothing over RM100 – very attractive right? 🙂
The press info sounds all juicy and wonderful – skin drenched in moisture, skin is so saturated and looks replenished and radiant – but you know what? This review from Tracy is the one that sealed the deal for me. If she finds it good, chances are I will too so that got me all hyped up and ready to give it a go 😀
I’m most interested in the Gel Cream moisturiser and the Moisture Boost Concentrate so once I have some thoughts on them, you will be sure to know of it 🙂
Have you tried anything from Yves Rocher before? Is there anything else in the brand I should be taking a look at?
I don’t know how popular this brand is locally but I think its quite popular over in Europe so I’d love to know what I should be looking at the next time I stop by the Yves Rocher store 😉

I have only tried their bath shower nectar which I really love especially the Bourbon Vanilla variant. absolutely love the scent because the scent can last for 1 or 2 hrs after your shower. There is an outlet in One utama old wing.
I did not know their price for skincare is so pocket friendly. thanks for sharing.

Hi Lavender, so many people are sharing about the shower stuff, I’m now very curious. I love bath stuff! Definitely have to go and check them out 🙂

Yves Rocher is really widespread in Italy but it’s usually labeled as a *cheap* brand and I’ve tried only a couple of products from them. I’ve used their Monoi fragrance this summer, I loved it so much that I’ve bought two backups.
This range looks really interesting, I can’t wait to read your thoughts about this. x

Hi S, I have come across quite a few blogs talking about Yves Rocher in Europe and everyone says how cheap it is. I guess cheap is good too right? 😉

My favorite fragrance is from Yves Rocher: Rose Absolue from their line Secrets d’Essences. Paris, you should definitely try it the next time you’re there!

Mmm that sounds lovely! I shall bear it in mind for when I visit the store – I should really be making a list! LOL!

I’ve used their products years ago – not sure what the names are now but one of them was definitely a facial cleanser. I think my mum made a mail order out of a UK catalogue ??!? Can’t even remember what I thought of it now lol!
Paris B says
LOL!! Hmm… I’m guessing it wasn’t all that impressive? 😉

What are your favourite YR products then, Caroline?
Caroline says
My mom actually introduced me to the products years and years ago, so I’ve been using their stuff off and on for a while. Right now though, I just recently bought their 24h Vitality anit-fatigue cream. I use it as my night cream and it’s super gentle and calming!

Yves Rocher has been available in Malaysia for a really long time. They have stores in Subang Parade and Sunway Pyramid (my usual haunts). Maybe that’s why you weren’t aware of their existence 😉
I first came across this brand when studying in UK. They used to be available via catalogue order. But I’ve never really tried anything except for a couple of shower gels. I’ve noticed that they have changed their packaging and updated their ranges over the years.

I actually remember seeing the store (old logo) in Subang Parade or Carrefour but I took a look at their list of stores and they are all in the outlying malls. The only store in KL is in Fahrenheit 88 which is probably why I never noticed them either! I think they used to sport a bright green logo once. Looked cheap then. But they seems to have refined their logo and look and now look pricier LOL Its good to know its not all that pricey 😉

Hello Paris, you cannot imagine how glad I am that you’re back in blogging town!!
Anyway, i read about this Yves Rocher hydrating range recently in the papers, and am counting down the days until my existing skincare finishes and then i’m making a trip to Yves Rocher @ Subang Parade to buy the face wash, toner, serum and the gel cream. Any day now…
Ever since your post on the benefits of using a hydrating skincare regime, i’ve been dying to start one.
Paris B says
Hi Kay Es! Thank you, it is lovely to be back in the blogging seat! 🙂 I’ve been taking the line for a spin and I quite like the cleansing gel, gel cream and serum. I could pass on all the rest though 😉 but I do feel that the texture takes some getting used to. My skin seems to have benefited which is great, and it’s nice that this is fairly affordable too 😉

I did try Yves Rocher products as I’m French haha : ) It is very well-known here and a lot of people buy their products indeed, but honestly I’m not quite sure of their quality. I’ve tried the Hydra Vegétal 24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream, but for a few days only and I never re-tried it as I didn’t like the texture . Their make up is ok but doesn’t stay long, so you need a few check ups throughout the day! They have good bath and shower products (I guess this is what makes them famous actually) and their frangrances are really, really, really good 🙂 I have several of them (So Elixir, So Elixir Purple, Ôde à l’amour(this one is the best)…). The good thing with their fragrance is that they last all day long 🙂 so it is perfect for a long day at work/school! 🙂
Paris B says
Oh hello Kami! Thank you for jumping in with your suggestions from France! I find the texture of the Hydra Vegetal cream takes getting used to but it seems to make me skin feel better. It was quite dry before and it’s looking smooth again, yay! I will have to check out the perfumes then. Making a mental list as I speak! 😀
Tracy says
Aww, thanks for the link Paris! You are awesome! I hope you like it! My skin was really bad this las week, and the cream version really fixed it for me. Hope it works for you too!
Paris B says
You’re welcome Tracy and I only dared to try it because you said you love it (and I do too!) I swear its turned my dehydrated skin around in just 2 weeks and I’m so bloody impressed 😛
Sandra says
I had been looking for a good moisturize for my extremely dry skin and have totally fallen in love with hydra vegetal. I am very pleased with the product! Since then I have gotten foundation and blush that I love. I would, however, like to make a suggestionin hopes that someone might follow through on…Women like things compact and convenient. The foundation does not come with a sponge. The blush has neither brush, nor mirror. So I use these products in the morning, before I go out but do not use them in my makeup bag that I take to work because they are not portable. It would be great to have both in compact form with sponge/brush and mirror so I can make a complete switch to your product! :~)
