Alrighty! Hands up whoever has tried Yves Rocher products?
You can’t see it, but I have my hand firmly DOWN because you know what? I’ve never tried anything from the brand. I didn’t even know where to find a Yves Rocher store in the city until recently! (Fahrenheit 88 mall btw) The thing is, I had seen the store before in some of the outlying malls a few years ago, but I’d never wandered in because it says Yves Rocher – France and it was so well laid out, I had it in my head that it was expensive. France, you know…
So it was with great surprise that I found out quite recently, that it isn’t. It in fact, could be considered pretty affordable, if not outright cheap for a brand of skincare that is said to be the No. 1 selling brand in France. Ladies from France, please confirm this? 😉
Yves Rocher has recently launched a new botanical skincare line worldwide called Hydra Vegétal and with a name like that, and the soothing light blue packaging, you just know that its all about moisture. You’d be right too!
Yves Rocher as a brand focuses on the use of botanical ingredients in their skincare i.e. derived from plants. Hydra Vegétal harneses the active ingredients from 2 plants that live in extreme climates – the Canadian Maple Tree in the extreme cold, and the Organic Blue Agave in the arid dry deserts of Mexico – to address problems of hydration and moisture in skin. What this Hydra Vegétal range is supposed to do add moisture into skin and lock in that moisture to help keep skin hydrated all day long.
Its quite opportune for this to appear on my horizon at this time because my skin has suddenly decided to rebel and turn dry again. Gah!
I have just started trying out one or two items in the range so I have no thoughts on it yet. I will definitely share my thoughts when I’ve a more informed view, because price wise, its very attractive.
How attractive you ask? Well, very!
- Hydra Vegétal 24H Intense Hydrating Gel Cream (RM59/50ml) – a light gel-cream texture for normal to combination skin
- Hydra Vegétal Moisture Boost Concentrate (RM99/30ml) – A light textured concentrate, or what we’d more commonly recognise as a serum that boosts hydration almost immediately. It is advised to use a moisturizer over it to seal in the goodness
- Hydra Vegétal Hydrating Cleansing Milk (RM49/200ml) – a light lotion based cleanser that is supposed to remove makeup while not drying out the skin
- Hydra Vegétal Hydrating Toner (RM49/200ml) – a toner, if you use it, that tones skin without drying it out the way normal toners do
- Hydra Vegétal Refreshing Gel Cleanser (RM49/125ml) – quite self-explanatory in that it cleans skin without drying it out
Nothing over RM100 – very attractive right? 🙂
The press info sounds all juicy and wonderful – skin drenched in moisture, skin is so saturated and looks replenished and radiant – but you know what? This review from Tracy is the one that sealed the deal for me. If she finds it good, chances are I will too so that got me all hyped up and ready to give it a go 😀
I’m most interested in the Gel Cream moisturiser and the Moisture Boost Concentrate so once I have some thoughts on them, you will be sure to know of it 🙂
Have you tried anything from Yves Rocher before? Is there anything else in the brand I should be taking a look at?
I don’t know how popular this brand is locally but I think its quite popular over in Europe so I’d love to know what I should be looking at the next time I stop by the Yves Rocher store 😉
Paris B
Yves Rocher Hydra Vegétal skincare is available at Yves Rocher stores nationwide. Prices are as listed above
Lily says
I haven’t tried this brand but I’ve seen it online. Thanks for letting me know it’s available here too. Would like to read what you think of it. The price is very attractive 🙂 And glad to know you’re back to your regular posting…maybe? 😀
Paris B says
For the conceivable future, yes its all systems go 🙂 I’ve been reading about Yves Rocher recently on overseas blogs too. It reminded me that we actually have the brand here, but its not very visible. Still, the products from this range have surprised me 😉
Tammy says
I tried quite a few of their products before, but many, many years ago! They are everywhere in HK and here in London they are selling them via website/catalogue. To be honest I am not excited with their products at all. They are a bit like Virgin Vie/Amway that sort of. When in Paris I did see their stores as well. Not sure if it’s really no.1 french beauty products I have to say! But their prices are surely attractive!
Paris B says
Hmm I would be less interested in buying stuff from a catalog too – I like being able to see and touch things. I read that some of their makeup is not bad. I will have to drag myself to a store and see what I can find 🙂
Meng says
Hi Paris, could you please provide us with the ingredients list of the gel cream and booster? I am interested, but want to be sure there are no ingredients that I am allergic to. Thank you.
Paris B says
I don’t have them on me now Meng, but I’ll be sure to include them when I’m do my review in a couple of weeks. Look out for it them 🙂
dom says
I love the packaging design o_o. I’m rarely a package/design ho but I don’t know why it’s calling out to me.
Do you know if they’ve got a range for combo-oily skin? Not that I should be purchasing it anyway. You know, after your post yesterday about decluttering and how it’s good for feng shui (something along those lines), I was like, “Crap, no wonder it’s been blergh for me all this time. I’m surrounded by crap”. So yeah. No more stuff. Wait, why did I take stuff during the last beauty swap again? …
Paris B says
I think its the colour and the curvy bottles 😀 The bottles actually remind me of shampoo bottles >.< As far as I know this is the only range there is which is for normal-combination skin. The only product that has something for combination-dry skin is the gel cream. I've been using the serum and gel cream for a week or so and its been surprising 🙂 But its one of those things that if you already have something that works, you don't really need it. I think you just wanted to give my stuff a good home 😉

The product I love most from this brand is the anti-fatigue foot gel. It really helps to relieve the aching and tiredness from being in heels sometimes and definitely during travels, walking about and sight seeing.
Paris B says
Ooh that sounds lovely! I must remember to check it out for the next time I travel 😀
ksuan says
Yves Rocher was one of my favourite skin care and makeup brands when I was studying in Paris. Their products were always affordable and effective, and their shower gels were a bathroom staple (oh how I miss them, grr!). So nice to see that they’re available in Malaysia now 🙂 I hope you like what you try, PB!
Paris B says
Shower gels! I love shower gels 😀 They’ve been around here for a long time, but I never paid attention to them (The stores looked drab and boring and after they had a face lift, looks too swanky LOL!) They tend to be located in the outlying malls that I rarely go to but since discovering they have one right in the city centre, I can think about visiting 😀
Marla says
I’ve never seen this brand before. Is it in any dept. stores?
Paris B says
I think they are in stand alone stores. I don’t know where they are sold overseas to be honest, but here, they are in stand alone stalls in some malls.
Mari Ohira says
Hmm, I don’t remember seeing that brand when I was in Paris. I used to buy other brands like Phyto, Nuxe and Chloe. As matter of fact, when I traveled to Europe for the first time, all I bought were international brands – it was only on my second trip there that I learned to appreciate the local products.
Paris B says
I’ve heard so much about Nuxe and how good it is. For some reason though, the past few times I was in Paris, I could never find any beauty store. Its weird LOL!
Mari says
Oh, Nuxe smells good, but it doesn’t moisturise all that much. It is a very dry oil – and not so good to use on the hair either. I use it as if it was perfume.
bita says
glad you’re back on track Paris! I’ve been using their shampoo for quite some years, they prevent hair fall. I love their creams and lotions too. This brand is popular in my country.
Paris B says
Hi Bita, thanks! I’ll bear their lotions in mind and its good to know its popular where you are – it means they must be doing something right!
Sze Ling says
Boo to dry skin. Don’t you hate it when your skin just decides to rebel? My skin was dehydrated and breaking out like a teenager a couple of months ago. Really frustrating.
Nope, never heard of them. Never even seen the store before. 😛 Maybe cause they don’t have one in Penang. But RM99 for a hydrating serum? Count me in! That’s if it works. Hehe. Will be anxiously wait for your review. 😉
By the way, other than the Clarins HydraQuench cream mask, are there any other hydrating masks that you would recommend? The Clarins one works, but I’m not too found of the scent. 😛 And the Laneige sleeping mask no longer works for me. Don’t know why. 🙁
Paris B says
Oh yes, I can never understand when or why my skin will go nuts. It was wonky for a few weeks and like you said, its frustrating! I haven’t been using many masks lately but the L’Occitane Angelica one doesn’t seem to bad. It does do a pretty good job but it smells like freshly chopped parsley to me, if you can handle that LOL!
Jo says
Just in time?I’ve run out of cleanser and moisturiser? Now you got me all hyped up! 😛
Paris B says
Talk about perfect timing, eh Jo? 😉
xin says
It’s also one of those stores that never attracted me! maybe it’s due to the greenn signboard and the shop always seems to be dimly lit.
Paris B says
Haha yes, that green signboard didn’t grab my attention either but now I’m very curious!
Stephanie/Yukaeshi says
There’s a Yves Rocher in 1 Utama too, the Old Wing. Same row at the Isetan on the 2nd Floor.
I’ve previously tried their lipstick and lip balm which was a very long time ago- I wasn’t into skincare/makeup much then but I remember that it was quite all right! 😀
I recently stumbled upon this range and am quite intrigued about the concentrate/serum too! Hmm.
Paris B says
Thanks for the heads up Stephanie 🙂 I can’t imagine why I never paid attention to this store before. I used to go past one in Carrefour Subang when I was living there but never once stepped in. The concentrate isn’t bad. I’m still getting to grips with the texture but it does seem to do a fair job hydrating skin – thank goodness. I was starting to feel like a mummy LOL!
Bugs says
Earlier this year I got a moisturiser sample of another range from 1U outlet … it was a small round white ointment pot, a lil smaller than our 20cents coins that should be enough for 1 or 2 uses. But when I opened it later to try, I don’t know whether to cry or laugh. The amount of product in that case was not even enough to coat my finger tip. It was as if they pour the gel lotion into the pot and poured it out again, and what’s left inside the pot is given to me. I had to use my finger to wipe around the corner of the pot but still it’s not enough for 1 use. That’s the most pityful sample I’ve ever received and to think I was so excited to try this brand when I got the sample. >.<'''
Jyoan says
I remember Subang has one. I think it’s Subang Parad.
I bought just a lip balm and a lipstick from them because I thought the regular skincare is quite costly.
Paris B says
I think you could be right about Subang Parade or maybe Carrefour Subang 🙂 I have to stop by their store some day. Seems like shower gels are quite popular
Becca says
I’m REALLY curious about that Booster–or serum. I keep imaging it to be similar to my beloved Caudalie S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum that I’ve recently become obsessed with due to the dry-as-a-bone weather around here. I can’t wait to hear what you think! I’ve always wanted to try something from this brand
Paris B says
Not familiar with the Caudalie to compare but it seems to have helped my skin. Its not so dry anymore. I was afraid I was stuck with this parchment skin. The texture however is a little thicker than I like so I’m still feeling my way around it.
Claire says
I have tried every single IR product I think, sadly non has worked for my face or the results were decent D: they have a skincare line (forgot the name but it is for ‘lightening’ and ‘brightening’ the skin) which I ‘liked’. Their body stuff is pretty good. If you like sweet scents, they have a new shower gel, apple delight (smells so yummy) and a body cream (same scent) 😀 some products from their makeup line are good as well (blush and lipstick).
Paris B says
Oh dear, sorry to hear the YR stuff don’t work for you Claire 🙁 This is my first time trying anything from it, but thus far the cream & concentrate combo seems to be working well. Not feeling the rest of the products. And you said blush and lipstick – 2 of my favourite makeup items! Guess I will have to pay them a visit soon shouldn’t I? 😉
Tuti says
Hi PB, love this brand. Got their products during my trip to Europe. They just opened a shop in Bali, but seems like very pricey, perhaps import duties. Hope to read your review soon 🙂
Paris B says
Hi Tuti, oh you get it there too! I have heard that its very cheap in Europe but I’m not sure how the prices compare to here. Knowing our import duties here, I’m thinking its probably more pricey here than in Europe too! I hope to bring it soon – got to try it a little while longer 😉
Callie says
Thank God you are back! I looked at your website a few times and tell myself – This cannot be happening. Ha ha… A bit of drama there but I’m sure you get the drift. When I see this entry today, I smiled. Glad to have you back Paris!
Paris B says
Hi Callie, happy to bring a smile to your face 😀 Thank you!
Liyeun says
Yay, u’re back!!! *hugs* Anyway, to answer the above question, I did try their shower creams and gels, which I prefer the former as it leaves me super smooth skin, especially my knee and butt area!!!! (Which ladies dont want that, u tell me?) lolz….. Oh yes, it’s cheap too! I hv just purchase them again, and each costs only rm19…. Love love!!!!
Paris B says
Hi Liyeun, yes I’m back! 😀 Thanks for the shower cream rec. I must go and check it out – smooth knees and butt woot! 😉
Swati says
wow…this is looking really soothing and tempting!!! donno when it will be available in India 🙁
Paris B says
Hi Swati, my skin seems to like it thank goodness! I hope its available in India soon 🙂
