Dear friends,
Some of you may realise the reason for this little blip in the daily updates on MWS, most of you may not 😉
But the reason isn’t relevant, the timing is. Its quite opportune that I traditionally take a one day break around this time, because I wanted to let you know that I’m taking a bit of a longer break this time to step back, live a little and smell the roses. Yes, I’m taking a short blog hiatus 🙂
I realise I have a blog backlog but I’ve been feeling swamped and have been struggling to find a balance. A lot of things have been happening for a while now, some incredibly awesome, some less awesome and its all gotten to me one way or another. There is so much going on that is unfair, ungrateful, irresponsible or just plain nonsensical, that makes me wonder why I even bother.
Sometimes, it feels like I’m not doing enough, or being good enough, or keeping abreast with things as I should be, or just giving too much for too little, and it was starting to bug me. Its a place I promised myself never to go to, because if I do, I’d have to shut down. I don’t want that either so I am learning to say No.
This hiatus has been in the works but I realised that if I wanted to complete everything before going on one, it wasn’t realistically going to happen, so I’m afraid here it is. After almost 6 years, over 2500 posts and 64,200 comments. I felt it was time to reevaluate. What I will do now is take some time out, step back, take a look at the larger picture, reconsider my perspectives and when I’m ready, I’ll be back.
In the meantime please do continue to vote in the MWS Readers Choice Awards 2012 and don’t forget about the Celebrate October giveaway (on until Nov 5). Your support for the Readers Choice Awards (now in Year 2) means the world to me as always 🙂
If I have not said it before, I say it now : Thank you for all your support for the blog and for your lovely, enthusiastic comments, emails and input all this time. I’ve come to think of all of you not as distant readers, but as friends who share a part of each others’ lives, and everyone knows that MWS readers are the best 😉 You have all made the blog what it is today, and I am humbled and grateful; so I owe it to you to ensure that standards are kept and principles remain uncompromised, the way you have come to expect it here at MWS.
For now, I plan to have a lovely day today and even if I do nothing over the next few days, I’ll be sure to enjoy it as I hope you will too. Now go, the roses are waiting to be sniffed and life is waiting for you to enjoy it – remember, the present is a gift and one I’m happy to give myself today 😉
Be back soon, lovelies! I know I can’t stay away very long 😉
xoxo

Same as Laura above, I am a quite new here and I am already addicted to your blog entries!! 🙂 Your posts inspires me to make an effort on my outlook and remind myself that I’m still a woman who needs to glam up from time to time 🙂
I do sincerely hope that you have a good chill out period. Whatever happens, you know you have a strong blog fans base here who will support you in every way to keep going. 😀 😀
See you here soon, and have fun with coming blog-free days! 😀

I will definitely miss your posts because there is none quite like your blog out there. I wish you well and hope things work out for the better for you. Come back soon! Thank you and take care!

My manager, whom I absolutely adore and respect once told me: Take ALL the time off you need. I’d rather you recover well and return than you burning out and never coming back.
So, I’m saying the same thing to you. I think we would like to see you rest well and recuperate than never ever seeing you again.
She also went on to say that many organisations make the mistaken of not letting their employees know how much they’re valued until it’s too late.
It’s safe to say that I’m speaking for the majority that we value you A LOT. So, go on you, paint the town red, burn a couple of holes in your credit card, come back refreshed and know that we’ll still be here no matter what you choose to do xxx

Enjoy the hiatus – you well deserve the break! (^?^) We’ll be waiting for you once you’re ready to go again.

You’ll be very much missed Paris! Being relatively new to the makeup I’ve found your reviews and advice to be invaluable. You have a brilliant sense of humour and are so down to earth; both qualities which make all your posts so enjoyable to read 🙂 I’m sorry to hear that there have been incidences that have made you question the point of what you’re doing. I honestly can’t see how anyone could possibly say anything negative about your work. It takes a lot of dedication to put up such thorough posts so frequently and not to mention the pressure of always trying to be imaginative. Hope everything sorts itself out and remember…everyone here thinks you’re awesome!! 🙂

Paris, you are a wonderful beauty blogger and a lovely person 🙂 I’ll never forget that you took the time to answer specific questions I had about makeup shopping in KL over email – several of them! You deserve this break. Just know that you have lots of fans who are here to support you no matter what goes on in your life. Big hugs from California!

Dear Paris,
This is Karen from Hong Kong. This is my first message to you although I’ve been reading your blog daily since I found your blog last year (maybe I should post my messages to show my appreciation on your contribution 😉 ) Will miss you and your articles and wish you a happy, relaxing break~

I’ll miss reading (well, not that I’m drowning under work, it’s more like silently stalking) your blog for the time being, but I’m glad you’re taking time to smell the roses! I’ll be seeing you on twitter 🙂
P.S. totally thought that was a two headed turtle…le sigh

I’ve been secretly following (stalking) your blog for a few months now, and have gained a world of insight in the areas of skincare. I have even found a few new favorites (Dior Capture Totale One serum and Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Relief). Your contributions have been extremely valuable to me as I struggle with the “new” skin of a 30 year old–for the first time in my life I have to struggle with acne and serious hyperpigmentation. I’ll miss your daily posts, but take as much time as you need. Rejuvenate, tiptoe through the tulips, and hurry back 😉

hey Paris, we’ll miss you, but hey it’s a well-deserved break. enjoy and see you soon or rather, read you soon 🙂

Hey PB! Have a great break and I hope all the nasties sorts itself out quickly so you can take a REAL break. Just want to let you know that like Laura above, I love reading your blog because of your style of writing. It does not sugar coat things and your opinion is always given in a very balanced manner which leaves the reader much room and information to properly make their own conclusion (to buy or not to buy..). It is precisely because of this that I have never failed to read any of your posts even if its about something I have no interest in. TBH a large number of us probably have no idea how much (or even any!) of a backlog you have so take it easy and coast along like the swan you’ve always been. But I must say a very big thank you for all your dedication to your readers and blog for all these years! Cheers!

Enjoy your break..

I hope you enjoy your break, you deserve it! It’s good every once in a while, that’s why we all go on holidats to refresh!
I’m always impressed by how you manage to consistently bring out high quality daily posts despite having a full time job. Most other bloggers only seem to manage this when it’s their only job. The notice is appreciated, it’s not nice to be left hanging (I suspected something like this from your recent post on blogging hiatuses).
In the meantime, I’ll just contenct myself with browsing through the archives until you’re return.
