Time Out: Time for reflection and to enjoy the now

enjoy the now

Dear friends,

Some of you may realise the reason for this little blip in the daily updates on MWS, most of you may not 😉

But the reason isn’t relevant, the timing is. Its quite opportune that I traditionally take a one day break around this time, because I wanted to let you know that I’m taking a bit of a longer break this time to step back, live a little and smell the roses. Yes, I’m taking a short blog hiatus 🙂

I realise I have a blog backlog but I’ve been feeling swamped and have been struggling to find a balance. A lot of things have been happening for a while now, some incredibly awesome, some less awesome and its all gotten to me one way or another. There is so much going on that is unfair, ungrateful, irresponsible or just plain nonsensical, that makes me wonder why I even bother.

Sometimes, it feels like I’m not doing enough, or being good enough, or keeping abreast with things as I should be, or just giving too much for too little, and it was starting to bug me. Its a place I promised myself never to go to, because if I do, I’d have to shut down. I don’t want that either so I am learning to say No.

This hiatus has been in the works but I realised that if I wanted to complete everything before going on one, it wasn’t realistically going to happen, so I’m afraid here it is. After almost 6 years, over 2500 posts and 64,200 comments. I felt it was time to reevaluate. What I will do now is take some time out, step back, take a look at the larger picture, reconsider my perspectives and when I’m ready, I’ll be back.

In the meantime please do continue to vote in the MWS Readers Choice Awards 2012 and don’t forget about the Celebrate October giveaway (on until Nov 5). Your support for the Readers Choice Awards (now in Year 2) means the world to me as always 🙂

If I have not said it before, I say it now : Thank you for all your support for the blog and for your lovely, enthusiastic comments, emails and input all this time. I’ve come to think of all of you not as distant readers, but as friends who share a part of each others’ lives, and everyone knows that MWS readers are the best 😉 You have all made the blog what it is today, and I am humbled and grateful; so I owe it to you to ensure that standards are kept and principles remain uncompromised, the way you have come to expect it here at MWS.

For now, I plan to have a lovely day today and even if I do nothing over the next few days, I’ll be sure to enjoy it as I hope you will too. Now go, the roses are waiting to be sniffed and life is waiting for you to enjoy it – remember, the present is a gift and one I’m happy to give myself today 😉

Be back soon, lovelies! I know I can’t stay away very long 😉

xoxo

Enjoy the break, lovely! You jolly well deserve it. It’s like working 6 years non-stop. You’d need a sabbatical! 🙂

Even as a newer reader, it’s been easy to see your dedication to the readers and the diversity/quality of your content is a cut above the rest. I’ve always been impressed with your ability to deliver content DAILY, and I know you didn’t mention this specifically as a reason for your hiatus, but if it was, rest easy knowing I would have happily read your blog even if your pace was slower. You’ve easily become one of my most beloved bloggers, and while I’m a bit sad to see you go, I know that you more than deserve it (I just wish you had given us an inkling of when you’d be back, you’ll be missed!)
