C-Power: Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line Reducing Concentrate does everything it says on the box

September 19, 2012 Paris B 55 Comments

I’d like to introduce to you today, a product I used a couple of years ago, which I liked and recommended to friends, but never blogged about. I don’t even know why but its one of those things that slipped my mind 🙂 I thought I’d better remedy that, because I got very good results from this serum so I’d like to share the good news too!

kiehl's powerful strength line reducing concentrate serum

The serum in question is the Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate (PSLRC for short) which is one of Kiehl’s bestsellers since its introduction in 2005. The product is, as the name implies, targeted at reducing the appearance of lines and improving skin texture, and has as its primary ingredient, Vitamin C – all 10.5% of it.

I have said this often but for some one my age (ahem!) I don’t have a serious line problem. I will count myself blessed in that respect 😉 The most prominent lines I have would be on my forehead and the naso-labial (laugh) lines. I like to think the latter isn’t that bad a thing to have 😛 So while I could not test out its claims on reducing the appearance of lines, I did notice an improvement in skin texture and skin tone. The latter was something I personally noticed, but isn’t the primary concern this product addresses.

I told you about 2 weeks ago that you could pick up samples at the Kiehl’s store and join me on my PLRC journey – did you do that? I’d love to know what you thought about this product too 😉

Your Say: Blog Sales : What do you think of them?

September 18, 2012 Paris B 74 Comments

blog sale

Back before I started blogging, I was already a beauty product junkie. I would run out and buy stuff and when it didn’t work for me, or if I had stockpiled one too many back ups, wonder what to do with them. And then I discovered Ebay. At the time, things were more relaxed and I could sell lightly used cosmetics there. Then, they started clamping down on used products and charging high fees and I gave up. It was too much effort.

Then, I noticed that many people started using their blogs as an avenue to sell their lightly used cosmetics. I have purchased one or two items from such blog sales from blogs I read and trust to know how well they care for their products and items. But in the main, I am not a blog sale consumer. I have been asked to run a blog sale too, and believe me, the prospect is tempting.

Head Backstage with Dior and check out their new Backstage Foundation Brushes

September 17, 2012 Paris B 56 Comments

If the beauty buzz hasn’t already made you sit up and take notice, then I’m here to tell you that with the success of the Diorskin Nude foundation from 2 years ago, Dior has upped the ante, and launched a brand new formula for both their Diorskin Nude liquid and powder foundation. I absolutely adore the new liquid foundation, I’ll tell you that right now. Its seriously one of the best I’ve used in a while and that’s saying a lot, since its coming out together with a whole bunch of other brands launching new foundations this year. But more about the foundation later 😉

dior nude glow foundation and backstage foundation brushes

I’m going to tell you about the new brushes that Dior has launched together with their new base makeup. There are 4 new Backstage brushes for liquid and powder makeup. One brush for full coverage, one for light coverage.

For liquid foundation, the brush for light coverage is your typical flat paddle brush and for full coverage, we get a dense round bevelled brush (looks familiar? 😉 ) For powder foundation, the brush for light coverage is the typical round fluffy powder brush while for full coverage, we have a denser flat top brush.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will be thinking at this point “Hmm… doesn’t that liquid foundation brush look suspiciously familiar?” If you are thinking about that highly raved Shiseido foundation brush, you got it right. It was my exact thoughts the moment I laid eyes on it. Would be interesting to see how it fares eh? 😉

I’ve got an overview of the brushes and my thoughts on the 2 that I have, plus some quick comparisons for you to get a better idea. Ready? Settle down, its going to be quite a read 😉
