Lipstick Bandits Take it All Off! Well, not quite…

September 24, 2012 Paris B 37 Comments

Sorry for getting your hopes up right there but no one’s taking off anything, much less the Lipstick Bandits 😛

The assignment for this round was “Nude Lipstick” and if you notice, its not something I’m terribly keen on so I had to leave it till the last minute. But its at dire times like these that providence intervenes, and I managed to find a nude lip after all, thanks to the newest Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick collection! Hurrah!

dior nude trench lipstick

The colour you see here is Trench (319). I chose Trench because I felt that on me, it was the most “nude” whereby it evened out the tone of my lips whilst not washing me out and making me look like the walking dead. Conventionally “nude” lipsticks tend to do that to me. I attribute it to the slightly warm peachy tones in the tube.

The Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick collection is a collection of 10 light coloured lipsticks that are quite transparent and luminous so unlike previous Rouge Dior lipsticks, these aren’t the strong opaque textures I’ve come to associate with Rouge Dior. Yet I like how Dior has interpreted their version of nude lipstick – the 10 colours range from peaches to pinks and much to my pleasure, its all very wearable. I will show you some other colours later, but for today, its Trench (and also other nude lipsticks from the rest of the Bandits).

Trench is a beige-peach colour I usually will not look twice at.

If this was the regular Rouge Dior texture, I’d have passed on it, because it would have been too opaque and I would have likely looked washed out. However, the new texture, what Dior calls a “Lip Blush” is quite apt a description. It imparts a blush of colour to the lips with a lighter, sheerer texture.

It feels light on lips and very comfortable. The colour is transparent so it does not look like you blotted your lips out with concealer or that you have lost all colour in your lips. I must note that I have quite pigmented lips so the colour you see here on me could be a bit more pink than on someone who has less pigmented lips. Having pigmented lips is a bane, if I were the sort to want to find a true nude lip shade, but happily, I’m more drawn to colours 🙂

I love the texture of Rouge Dior lipsticks. I always have, because they are so lovely and strong in colour. But I have also come to appreciate that sometimes, a light blush of lip colour is what we need.

In a nutshell

Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick has a lighter and sheerer texture than the regular Rouge Dior lipsticks. Dior says these are a Lip Blush. I like the texture which is smooth as per regular Rouge Diors but they aren’t balmy like that of the Dior Addict lipsticks. The Nude lipstick collection has 10 shades of which Trench is one of the signature shades. In the tube, it is a peachy beige shade. On my lips, it is a natural and light peach-beige shade that evens out the tone of my lips but allows my natural lip colour to come through as well. It is a very pleasant day to day colour that I could see myself wearing often, aside from my usual reds, pinks and roses.

Pros: No scent or taste, Light texture, Comfortable on lips, Wearable for most, Allowed me to find a nude lipstick that I could comfortably wear!

Cons: Pricey

Who will like this: Anyone who is looking for a nude lip colour but does not want one that blots out your natural lip colour

If this isn’t for you, the rest of the Lipstick Bandits will have other nude lipstick choices to whet your appetite 🙂

OOO I still have to check this line out! Trench looks gorgeous on you (I love its Vernis counterpart. It’ll be on my blog tomorrow)! I’ve tried Addict and Addict Extreme, but not Rouge Dior yet and it seems like I’m really missing out!

Haha yes! I actually prefer Rouge Dior for a more grown up lipstick as I find the Addict lipsticks too balmy and glossy to look truly grown up. So these are great – give them a go! 🙂

Thanks Tracy! I liked that there was colour too! I’m actually deathly afraid of nude lipstick but this range from Dior is a good one. Hope you get to check it out soon.

I tried this too but I didn’t get it! Needed to see if I have a similar nude in my stash (I’m starting to lose track what color is what, meep!) before acquiring another.

That looks great on you! I’m still on the hunt for my perfect nude lipstick, the closest I’ve found so far is Revlon Matte in Mauve It Over. Maybe I’ll give Dior a go!

I like Mauve It Over too – pigmented enough to show up on lips. However, this one from Dior gives lips a nice sheen (since it’s not matte) and it’s so comfortable to wear 🙂

Wow that’s quick! 😀 I like Grege too. Its slightly brighter on me, and less “nude” but I think the whole range is great. Finally, we can find a nude lipstick that doesn’t make us look dead!

I’ve loved all the nude lippies featured in all the Lipstick Bandits’ posts, but I must say I think this one is my favorite. I also think it’s the one that would look best on me–or at least I’m hoping, because I’m definitely running to Nordstrom to swatch it this weekend 😀 You look beautiful, as always, Paris!
