Headed to one of the Happiest Places on Earth – Disneyland Hong Kong!

September 16, 2012 Paris B 51 Comments

They say that Disneyland is the “Happiest Place on Earth”.

I say you are never ever too old for Disneyland 😀 The first time I visited a Disneyland it was EuroDisney outside of Paris back in student days. I went with friends and we went crazy! At the time, EuroDisney was new and it was, by comparison to the huge parks in the USA, small. I don’t know how much its expanded since, but I always remember the few days I was there. It was magical!

Like the kids around us, we were busy chasing down the various Disney characters to have our photos taken with them. I had to give in to the little tykes when we came upon Mickey and Minnie – it was impossible to get even a foot within the characters, never mind take a photo with them.

Its weird, because there we were, full adults jostling with kids for photos and autographs (yes, autographs!) Yet something in the air made us throw reason out the window. For the 3 days I was there, I was a kid again. And *squee!* I’m going to relive that magic! 😀

This time, I’m headed to the Disneyland park closest to me – Hong Kong Disneyland. Its my first time, and the opportunity was too good to pass up 😀 If anyone has been and has tips to share on what to see, do, and the best way to get around the Park, please please do share! I’m a huge adrenaline junkie so I hope there are some good rides there for me to get my fix. I know there’s a new land – Grizzly Gulch that’s just opened in July so I’m looking forward to check that out. Apparently it’s a world exclusive to Disneyland HK. EuroDisney had Frontierland with its wild west theme, and I see a nice roller coaster taking centre stage here! Roller-coasters are my drug 😀 Then there’s that Flights of Fantasy Parade down Main Street and evening fireworks to look forward to.

Oh and another thing I’m looking forward to is to try the dim sum there. Apparently, you get buns in the shape of Chicken Little, and the Little Green Men alien from Toy Story! Can anyone confirm this? 😛 Above all, I’m going to hunt down that photo with Mickey Mouse this time. This time kids, I’m not giving way!

Have you been to Hong Kong Disneyland? Please share your tips if you have on what you think is a must do or must see!

I’m excited as you can possibly tell. I wonder what gave it away 😛

P/s I’m only going next week so keep the suggestions and tips coming! 😀

I so much prefer Disneyland to Universal Studio. I guess i am all for cuteness and nostalgia than the actions. Enjoy your trip! 🙂 Will you be staying at the hotel? If i visit Disneyland again, I would love to stay in it!

Me! Me! Those of us who grew up with Disney cartoons will love Disneyland and the whole magical experience 😀 I haven’t been to Universal Studios SG yet because nothing there really grabs me in the sense that I feel like its a theme park for rides and not an experience per se. Or am I over analyzing things? 😛 I will be staying at the hotel and I hear its very cute so I can’t wait to get there! 😀

Yeah, they just opened a new Land so I’m looking forward to that – hopefully there’s a big ride there 😀 Thanks for the camera tip! I was wondering if I should bring my big one or small one. Guess you answered the question for me 😛
