During the week, I happened to head down to the KLCC area and noticed that there were many tourist buses in the area around the park. Apparently, that is a very good spot for taking the ubiquitous tourist photo of the Petronas Twin Towers because every bus stopped there, disgorged loads of tourists who’d pose and take photos first with their DSLR then their point and shoot camera and then their phone cameras. Every one of them! I was also terribly amused to see almost all the kawaii photo poses in the book, and more that I never knew existed 😛 It was educational.
I had my camera with me so I decided to take some random shots. There is no real theme to it but since it was a work day and there I was, here’s some random shots of what I wore to work that day.
I’ve learnt one thing. I am terrible at having my photo taken. Stiff as a board LOL!
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind….
So no, you may not expect to see regular features like this in the near future unless I get it in my head to be random again or there is something I want to show you 🙂
I’ve been carrying my Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini bag for weeks now. Its lovely and roomy and fits a ton. I actually have my DSLR in there some days and you can’t quite tell. Well, my shoulder can, because its otherwise a very heavy bag. The metal hardware is lovely but makes the bag heavy.
So here’s what I wore to work on this random working day.
Dress: A basic black dress I picked up in Singapore many years ago for about $29
Shoes: Clarks heels bought on sale for about £25
Bracelet: Triple strand of faux pearls with clasp from Sweet Contemplation Accessories
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini
Thanks for reading this maiden attempt at an outfit post. As you can see, I don’t quite stick to a very conventional office dress code unless I absolutely have to, preferring to wear something simple but comfortable and hoping to get away with it most of the time 😉 I’m not the most fashionable person too as you can probably tell LOL! 😀
The photos here are also lesson #1 in why you shouldn’t take photos in the 12-3pm time. See the harsh light? The shadows cast? Next time I attempt something like this (if I ever do), I’ll do it in the evening. I’ll have to steal time off work of course but it’ll be fun 😀
Do you have a very strict dress code at work? Is it all shirts and suits for you, or are you in a relaxed office environment?
I guess I belong in the latter category unless there is something serious on the books, then I make a little more effort to look a little more serious and corporate 😛 Hope your weekend has been a good one!

Yes!! Thoroughly enjoyed your post! More posts like this please!
Fashion+bags+makeup= makes me love your blog even more! 🙂
Paris B says
Thank you so much for the support, Lynn! I truly appreciate it coz I wasn’t sure how this would be received hehe… I will try to bring more of similar posts but perhaps less frequently. Turned out the photo taking was a lot harder than I expected 😛
Sukie says
Looking really chic, Paris! =) I am a huge fan of black, especially black dresses as they are not only flattering but incredibly versatile! Loving the bag too but am a little vary of its weight as I am one who seems to overfill her bag all the time! 😉 I hope to see more post like these my dear! =D
Paris B says
Thanks Sukie! I know what you mean about black dresses. The good thing about a good black dress is how you can wear it for different occasions and not have anyone notice too much 😉 I do tend to carry too much junk in my bags too but when I have a heavy bag, I tend not to. Which is both a blessing and a curse 😛

I love that bag! Those shoes look pretty comfortable, too. I love my Clarks! My last job was at a university and the dress code was business casual, which still surprises me.
Paris B says
Thanks Laura! The shoes are super comfortable and I wish they were as affordable here as they are in the UK! But still, shoes are very important so one should never give up comfort 😉
klee says
You look lovely and very chic…super tasteful! love the bag!
Paris B says
Thank you Klee! 😀

Nice outfit post. That floating rubbish bag was a bit random, I’ll admit hehe
I like your bag!
I’m lucky enough to have a job where we don’t have a strict dresscode, but again, it’s not like I can wear sneakers and jeans to work. We have to keep it professional, but I almost never wear the conventional black skirt and shirt ensemble.
Paris B says
Thanks Joey 🙂 I only realised the plastic bag in the background when I was editing the photos. It was random but hopefully interestingly random LOL! 😉 Its great to not work in a strict corporate work place. Sometimes, we work best in comfortable clothing – why constrict ourselves and restrict bloodflow to the brain eh? 😉

That’s a lovely dress, shoes and also bag Paris!!! You definitely look gorgeous in this work look!!
Paris B says
Thank you Michelle, you’re very kind to say so! 😀

very nice polished look you have there 🙂 Like the bag!
Paris B says
Thank you Jess! 😀

LBD and leather bag can never go wrong for work! Usually I’ll add a hint of colorful accessories to my look when I go for all black look, like a pink/red belt or heels, just to soften the edgy corporate look 😉
Paris B says
That’s a good idea. The bag’s navy blue so it does break up the colour a little although when I wear black, I usually go with a nice bright red lip – best accessory ever hehe…

Very polished look.

Thank you ! 🙂

Love….love…love your whole outfit!! lovely!! make me wana get black dress 🙂 my work is so casual, i can even wear a house clothes to work 🙁
Paris B says
Thank you! A black dress is very versatile so do find one you like 😉 As for dressing up I sometimes think helps how we feel. If its too casual then it doesn’t feel like work and maybe you won’t be as productive? I feel that way sometimes when I go to work on a weekend in my house clothes and it just doesn’t feel right. So maybe you could just do a semi casual outfit instead 😉

Laughed my heart out at that plastic bag in the wind! 😀
Paris B says
I know! I was quite bummed by it when I saw it in the photo but thought, hey! It fits the song 😛
plue says
i like the necklace you are wearing! just a nice size and length me thinks.
office dress code is semi formal (i think), slippers are allowed (if we aren’t out meeting anyone) and we can get away with tees that isn’t too casual.
i usually dress up a bit more if I am meeting someone and keep a pair of shoes for just in case moments. otherwise I like being in my t-shirt material blouses with slippers!
and no one in office dress up… 😛
Paris B says
Thanks Plue! 😀 I used to keep a pair of slippers in my previous office too (where I used to dress a lot smarter) but these days I rarely do. I’ve also given up wearing slippers at work LOL But having a spare pair of shoes is a good idea – never know when it might come in handy! I sometimes wish I was as clever because I sometimes cleverly wear shoes that pinch my feet and then I suffer the whole day 😛

Aren’t those pair of black Clarks dainty! I love Clarks. They’re so comfy (for heels) without crimping on style. I have like three pairs and I rotate them on a frequent basis to prolong their lifespan.
Paris B says
Clarks used to look so boring but the new designs are adorable! And so comfortable too – I think I need more LOL!
Beauty Box says
Well done for your inaugural outfit of the day post. I love your dress and bag…I’ve been meaning to get a Rebecca Minkoff bag for ages but can’t decide which one. I was obsessed with her mac minis for awhile but decided they were too popular so I have been spying on her larger offerings…I love yours!! I didn’t know Beautyholics Anonymous has a jewellery store too…love the look of her website…:)
Paris B says
Thank you! I have one of the MAC mini and its cute for a fun out and about bag but doesn’t fit much of anything LOL The MAB Mini is a good one. Its not mini at all and you can fit A LOT. Just be careful of the weight – it can throw out your back if you’re not careful 😛
Amanda says
Oh, I must say I LOVE this post. Your dress is simple, but you look very professional in it. But I’m a bit disappointed because there is only one set of clothes. Post more next time!
Paris B says
Thank you Amanda 🙂 I’m still getting to grips with the concept to be honest. Will likely not venture too much out into a wide variety but we’ll never know once I ease into it – thanks for the idea!
Ling says
I definitely think you should do more What I Wore posts! I actually like your stiff posing in the first pic – it’s adorable!!!! And I wish I could wear more stylish clothes to work!
Paris B says
Thank you for the support Ling! You may just see lots of stiff poses all the time. Maybe I’ll do the mannequin look LOL!
Tine says
Hey oh! I recognised the bag! 😛
It’s fantastic you can actually use the short handles on your shoulder. I can’t do that with mine, so I’m always either carrying it by hand or arm (mostly by arm, which is also why I get unsightly red marks every time I carry the bag). I’ve actually never used the long strap with the bag though. Find the bag alone too heavy to use with the strap and it hangs funny.
It’s still my go-to bag for most things. So glad you recommended it years ago, so glad I bought it!
Paris B says
YAY for being bag twins. I try not to carry too much when I use this bag thanks to the incredible weight and its a good lesson on knowing how little I can actually survive on if I have to 😉

Hi! I’m a freshman here but… already love your blog! And your style (in both meanings) 🙂 Read your prevoius posts as well as the current one and I’m really impressed and amazed by two things – 1st of all – your personality and way of thinking! Are you reading my mind girl? ;D And 2nd – I live in Europe and I was really surprised that we have reached the point – I mean nowadays no matter where you are you may use the same products, same brands, same language… It is good on the one hand but dull on the other. I mea after all – there are only few beauty brands in the world – I’ve got Essence, you’ve got Essence and the same story is with Maybelline, Dove, L’Oreal etc. Small world 🙂
Anyway, sending warm greeting from sunny Poland :o) I’ll be back! ;D
Paris B says
Hi Marta! Thank you for your lovely words. I really appreciate it, and how’s that for being a mind reader eh? 😉 I will tend to agree with you about how small the world is becoming these days. We have so many similar brands and products that it gets boring as you point out. However, it’s also nice to share right? Especially if it’s a good product or brand 😉 hoping to hear from you again soon and glad to know you are having lots of sun in Poland!

Hi Paris
Love the dress and shoe! It’s always interesting to see what others wear to work. Thanks for the post. It’s difficult to find a good photographer I must say but you are lucky. I wear dresses to work on most days.

Hehe.. love this post. It reminds me.. that I’m always trying to cheat the dress code hahaha.. I preferred more relax outfit than formal outfit.. Kinda boring.. Trying to add “more colour” into my formal dressing for work 🙂
Paris B says
Try a scarf or a colourful necklace 😀 It works and its pretty and still relaxed 😉
