Insta-Updates: Empties for May and June!

July 5, 2012 Paris B 33 Comments

I started doing this in April so I figured, why not continue a good thing. Finishing up anything is always a milestone in my book, and its also a good way to slip in a quickie review in case I’ve missed out on something along the way 🙂

I realised it takes me about 2 months to be able to document anything so I’ll keep this up bi-monthly as long as I can (or as long as I’m interested LOL!) Hopalong for the breakdown for May and June empties

  • Lemongrass House Thai Pomelo Shower Gel – a gift from a friend and I like it! The scent is very refreshingly citrus, pretty much like a freshly peeled pomelo. Its a nice shower gel and I’m sad to see it empty because our closest source is Thailand (where it originates) or Singapore.
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate Shower Gel – Bought this during the last sale. The smell is a little sweet but with just enough spiciness to not be cloying. I thought it was ok. Not a repurchase because I don’t like it enough.
  • Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum – I already have its back up firmly in place. Review is in the link if you missed it, but its become a daily staple. Incidentally, I’ve just been told that you can also use it in the day. I haven’t tried that though.
  • Clarins Hydraquench Cream – This was a deluxe sample I found in my stash and was using it mostly at night but sometimes in the day too. I like it! Its non oily and not heavy despite being for dry skin and I’m thinking of picking up the full size tub. I’m on a moisturizing/hydrating skincare kick right now 😀
  • Johnson’s Baby Shampoo – I was using this to wash my makeup brushes but now that I’ve discovered an even cheaper alternative that works just as well, I’m not repurchasing this one 😀
  • Human Nature Moisturizing Conditioner – I hate how hair conditioners always finish up before shampoo does. Why?! I’ve still got some shampoo left so I’m feeling upset that by the time I purchase the new tube of conditioner, and am partway through, my shampoo will finish and then I’d be left in the same quandary. They should make conditioner sizes double that of shampoo.

And that was it for May-June! Did you finish up anything in this time?

SWEET! I love posts like this because since you’ve used it ’til the end, you can really tell how the product is. 🙂

I love Lemongrass House products and have that Crabtree showergel too! 🙂

You’re absolutely right! Its nice to see what people use up isn’t it? For me, its because its good or because its so bad I am extremely generous with use LOL! I wish we got Lemongrass House here. The 2 shower products I’ve tried are nice

Empties!!! I had a bunch of them recently, and went restock shopping. 😀

Why don’t you purchase a smaller size shampoo bottle and full size conditioner instead? That way you can finish both at the same time? :p

I didn’t know you’re using HydraQuench too, LOL. I’ve mentioned before that I’m in a toss between HydraQuench and Ultra Facial Cream. Ended up going to Khiel’s yesterday and went home with the jumbo size UFC gel plus a bunch of samples.

Haha I know what you mean about the shampoo 😛 These days, I’m never sure if a shampoo/conditioner will work for me, so I get them in the smallest sizes but I still go through the conditioner more quickly. Maybe I’m doing something wrong 😛 Ahh… Kiehl’s is very generous with their samples! I hope you like the Ultra Facial Cream. I found it too thick for me although in cold weather, its really really good!

i recently picked up a bottle of ANR as well and i’m (secretly) using two tiny drops in the day (because i’m sharing with my sis, sshh) – love it, and thanks loads for the recommendation on this one! i only managed to empty a bottle of philosophy’s vit c booster powder in june after using it for 2 months 🙂 i’m a pretty slow stingy user of products :p

Yay! Happy to know the ANR works for you. However, I was told that to be truly effective, you need 1 full pump and then make sure its all absorbed into your skin before moving on to your moisturizer etc. I’ve always used 1 pump but I’ve heard of many who use just a few drops which I’ve been told is not sufficient, but maybe if it works for you, then its good 🙂

I use ANR in the daytime 🙂 Find that it stops me from oiling up too much, oddly enough.

I use ANR in the day too…according to the BA, it can be used day & night. I do wander away from this but always come back 😉

That’s great to know! I still haven’t ventured into using it in the day. Too many years of being indoctrinated into using it only at night >.<

I have a few bumps on my face next morning after my first application (getting a bit worred coz I bought the full size). I’m not sure whether it is really due to the MRC, so continue using it…now I can tell that it definitely has positive impact on my face, not dratically plump up my skin, but my makeup do stay longer during the day and less oily on my T-zone…tumbs up for this =)

Well, Anr doesn’t works it magic on me! So did the khiel midnight serum which even clog my pores…. Odd enough, Midnight serum does wonder on my eyes are though! However, I didn’t get to experiment with AnR before I gave it away!

Ah! Good work on the empties! The only thing I ever finish is face wash, and since living with my bf shampoo & conditioner. Do you condition more than you shampoo? I’m curious bc I rarely condition! 🙂

Well I condition daily because I wash my hair daily. I do use more conditioner than shampoo though. That might be why 😛

I must do this for myself. Never knew which products finished when and how long I used them. Seems like I’m always buying, buying and buying! Aargh!!

I actually finish my shampoo first before conditioner. That’s because I shampoo twice and condition once. Is this weird?

I know what you mean. We get so caught up sometimes, its easy to forget what we already have 🙂 Where I can, I try to finish up stuff I’m using. Its hard as you might imagine, but its possible 😀 Especially true of hair and shower stuff. I just be a bit more generous when using them 🙂 I don’t think your hair routine is weird – whatever suits us after all! 😀

I know!! When I see that there’s only a little left in the bottle, I’m already itching to break out a new product so sometimes I end up with a few bottles of half used shower gels in my shower! Its crazy 😛

Paris, it still puzzles me, how do you use hair conditioner? cos I always ends up with lots of conditioner even when I’m on my 2nd shampoo bottle. Am I using it wrong?

LOL Maybe I’m doing it wrong, not you! 😛 I am more generous with my conditioner than shampoo because I don’t have long hair so I only need very little shampoo. As for conditioner, I have quite rebellious hair so I find I need more to smoothen it. Might be why I end up using more and finishing conditioner first.
