Ahhh… May 1st – a public holiday that is celebrated internationally by all “labourers” – you and me included 😀 Yay for “universal” public holidays! a public holiday here and in many parts of Asia. Just learnt its not as universal as i originally thought. Boo! It should be! 😛
Which brings us to an interesting question some friends have asked me – What beauty products do you keep at work? What do you ensure you always have on hand, even at the office?
Wanna know mine?
Nothing.
I’m serious! I don’t keep any beauty products at work. No makeup, no hand creams, no lip balm. That’s my work desk in the office and at home up there. They are messy as anything, but its mostly scraps of paper, stationery and at work, some chocolate (not even sure why since I don’t eat much chocolate either!) But not a beauty product to be seen.
Oh wait, there’s one – a bottle of drinking water, if that’s considered a beauty product 😀 I have a bottle on my desk so I remember to drink enough water during the day. Not counted, then the count stands at 0 😛
I guess its because I don’t use hand creams, nor do I use lipbalms, the 2 items you may expect to find at most womens’ desks. I really should, seeing that constant exposure to air-conditioning can be very drying to the skin. Maybe I’ll bring a tube of hand cream to work the next time.
Am I alone in this or am I the odd one out? 😉
Your say: Do you keep beauty products at work? What beauty products do you have on your work desk then?
Happy Labour’s Day everyone!

Gosh. I keep a stack of beauty products at work!
1. Lip balm, lipstick
2. Shower stuff because I do lunchtime runs at times – shu uemura cleanser decanted, shampoo&conditioner, body wash, roll-on perfume
3. Multiple hand creams and hand sanitiser
4. Full makeup kit – I do a lot of after work drinks/dinners and don’t want to turn up looking grotty (this is where the cleanser comes in handy!) 🙂

Hey, you could live at work! 😛

I have some body lotion at office which I don’t use. I have no idea why I have it there. I have a lip balm which I hardly use.
Some people told me that hand creams creates a layer of something around the skin and eventually will make us rely on the hand cream more. I don’t like the feeling of something on my hands as type, flip papers and sometimes eat at my desk. So, I have not experienced this. However, I find some lip balms which I randomly used in the past somehow causes my lips to peel whenever I use.
Paris B says
You know, I wonder if we are just conditioned to think we need to have hand cream and lip balm at work, when most of us will never use it because we’re too busy 😛 I don’t know how true it is about hand cream dependancy, but I do think there is some degree of lipbalm dependancy. I don’t use lip balms but I use a moisturizing lipstick and I think its just as helpful (Plus my lips don’t peel, like they do with some lipbalm too)

Since I work from home, I’m probably not the best person to answer this. However, if I do work in an office I think I’ll keep cream there. I’m always in need of some hand cream! Maybe some lip balm too, but not really makeup.
Paris B says
Ahh I could never work from home, I’d snack too much and look like a blimp! 😛 I tried once – but I do tend to get more work done 😀
Applegal says
I have hand cream and lip balm at work, both were gifts from fellow colleagues. Both turn out to be very handy when hands and lips feel dry!
Paris B says
Your colleagues are nice! And yes I must admit they can come in handy when humidity is very low. I’ve been to some offices where its so cold in there, its like the tundra 😛
Nellz says
Hmmm I have:
– Wet wipes
– Hand serum + hand cream
– Body lotion
– Body sunscreen
– Lip balm
– Oil blotters
Seem like alot eh.. Time to housekeep.. 🙂
Paris B says
Next to some, that isn’t a lot at all 😀

Currently, I’m still a student so this office scenario doesn’t really apply to me. Haha. But if I were working full-time, I too won’t be keeping any beauty products in the office. Why? Because I keep all my stuff in my makeup bag which I carry around everywhere, even when I don’t really need it. You are not alone in this. Haha. 😀
Paris B says
LOL! That’s a practical way of looking at it 🙂 In my makeup pouch… are about 10 lipsticks. I don’t even know why 😛
Jesslyn says
I have :
– lip gloss
– 2 lip stick
– eye liner
– wet wipes
– hand lotion
– compact mirror
I tend to forget my makeup pouch so the above are used only in “emergency” so I don’t look like a zombie , without any basic makeup 🙂
Paris B says
Haha that’s a good emergency kit if I saw one! 😀
plue says
lol i don’t have anything beauty related either on my desk! water bottle and a box of tissue, if die die must have something 😛
Paris B says
Erm… I have an empty tissue box LOL! I should go and replenish that 😀

Paris B says
Wow that’s quite a lot of stuff you keep at work 😀
sehseh says
Hand lotion and lip balm. Though I must admit, they seems to be a decoration because most of the time, I’m too busy with work to notice their existence. TT-TT for my skin.
Paris B says
I know right? I used to have them on my desk too then I realised that I never used them and they would keep expiring so I decided to just forget it 😛
Cas says
For someone who adores makeup and reviews them so well I’m suprised at you Paris, hehe. Or do you keep them in your bag instead? 🙂 But yea same here, my office table is in a mess. I only have a few lippies and lip balm lying around the table and some hide away stash of blotters incase I forgot to pack them in my bag.
Paris B says
Haha What’s in my makeup pouch that I tote around would surprise you even more 😛 Its just lipsticks or lipglosses 😀
UB says
Hi.. Interesting question.
My desk at home and at work are totally different.
At work I do keep: bottles and bottles of water, handcream and lip balm. they are very handy. I do actually carry my concealer in my bag, just in case.
At home: it is simply my desk, pieces of papers and my computer and of course other stationary.
Other than that, not really a makeup.
Paris B says
I think the lipbalm and handcream combination is a popular one 🙂
Kari says
I have hand cream, hand sanitizer, decanted body lotion from one of the many bottles I’m trying to finish, and a hair cuticle coat (awesome stuff). I’m trying to filter out makeup to keep at work but then I realize I don’t want to leave anything behind!
Paris B says
I know! I don’t want to leave makeup at my office either and I don’t really want to apply something that I’m not too crazy about either 😀 Duplicates is of course the best solution 😛
BunBunMakeupTips says
I need A WHOLE LOAD of makeup products around me to feel safe. In fact, my work table’s pretty much surrounded by a fort of makeup products, stationery, cutesy stuff. I know clutter isn’t good but I just feel more safe surrounded by things I love.
Paris B says
Hey, we just never know what we need and when 😉
Indira says
I have ones on my desk..because I’m too lazy to put in on my purse! They are: loose powder (in small container); blush and eyeshadow (Revlon, both I rarely use); short eyeliner pencil and lip liner (rarely used); eyebrow pencil; lip balm; lipstick in neutral color (Maybelline) and a cheap blush brush….
I think that’s all 🙂
Elaine says
I have a bag of stuff in the office *guilty*
Well, in case of emergency… I have loose powder, 2-way foundation, eyeshadows (in neutrals), mascara, eyeliner, lip balm, lip gloss, lip stick, face mist, body lotion, hand creams and blush.
I only carry the blush I’m wearing on the day, pressed powder, lipstick around in my bag.
