Things are looking Rosy and Peachy with the very affordable Silkygirl Blushing Trio in Rosy Peach

May 21, 2012 Paris B 43 Comments

There is something you may know about me. Or you may not. But I’m a blush fiend. Blushes were my first love, even before lipstick and I have a … well… pretty large collection 😛 I don’t discriminate with brands, if you are wondering. You may notice that I have a fondness for the luxury brands, but when it comes to blush (and lipstick), I am quite prepared to look in the budget sections provided there is something good and worth looking at 😀

Which is how I stumbled on the Silkygirl Blushing Trio blush one day at the pharmacy. Silkygirl is a local (Malaysian) brand of inexpensive cosmetics that is very easy on the pocket. I spotted the new Blushing Trio blushes one day and later went back to pick one up. A preliminary swatch of the tester made me think it a decent enough buy. The low low promotional price of RM19.88 (RRP RM25.90) helped of course!

But does the cheap price mean cheap and crappy product?

Happily no! I’m quite impressed by this little blush compact.

Ok, so the packaging sucks. Its thick and bulky and the plastic is brittle. I can forsee myself putting a crack in one of these soon. I would prefer if Silkygirl had gone for more streamlined thinner packaging. The brush included is not even worth trying. I tossed mine the minute I opened the blush because it kept migrating into the blush area and messing it up. It is also sparse, scratchy and an all round pain.

I’d much prefer if they didn’t bother including a brush. Granted, some people may appreciate a brush if they don’t have one, but this brush will apply the powder streakily and patchy and these same people will then bin this blush because “Its crap”. But it isn’t. Use your own proper blush brush to apply and the blush is a nice inexpensive treat!

Silkygirl Blushing Trio Rosy Peach swatches : Bottom: swatched top to bottom, Top: blended

Each stripe is quite pigmented as you can see from the swatches. The 2 deeper rosy shades are matte and the lightest shade at the bottom of the trio is slightly shimmery. Depending on which part of the trio you apply your blush brush to, you will see the colour apply lighter or deeper.

You can also see that the blended swatch isn’t too bright nor too pale. My blush brush picks up colour well, and it applies as a soft pink with a hint of peach on the cheeks.

See? Its quite delicate on cheeks and for me, lasts me almost all day. Do bear in mind that I do not have oily skin. I apply 2-3 layers depending on how intense I want it to look and it isn’t shiny or too shimmery. The pink is muted and not too bright and to my surprise, it shows up well. If you want a touch of highlight, just pick up the shimmer shade and dust on your cheekbones.

For an inexpensive pick me up, this one’s a winner!

In a nutshell

The Silkygirl Blushing Trio blushes come in 3 shades. This is 01 Rosy Peach and it is as the name implies, a rosy pink peach on my skin. It is lightly pigmented and is not too matte nor too shimmery. The brush included is really poorly designed and so is the packaging. But for the price, I’m not complaining.

Pros: Affordable, Nice colour and texture, Longlasting on my skin

Cons: Packaging is too bulky and brittle, Brush included is crap

Who will like this: Anyone on a budget, Anyone – period!

I saw 3 shades available at the counter. I went for the one that was most wearable for most, which is Rosy Peach. One is more brown which will suit those who prefer something warmer and more golden, while another was a pale pink that did not appeal.

Have you by any chance tried any of the Silkygirl Blushing Trio blushes? I love it when I come across something this cheap and yet performs well. I have actually been using this quite often because the colour is quite pretty, and I can forsee that this will be my travel blush. If it shatters, I won’t be upset. Or maybe I will but at least replacement won’t hurt my wallet 🙂

I’ve used it as sun kissed colors that very nice and very longlasting on my cheek. For SILKY BRAND would recommend for things as poweder as compact powder or blusher or eyeshadow eventualy they are matching the colors not nice but the if you try and matched by ur self you will fall in love with it as nice quality and FUN to wear beacause of cheap you can put much as much as you want ^__^
