The day lip balm takes on a limited edition flavour is the day you know that the cosmetics world has gone a little boinkers. Oh wait. There already is a limited edition lip balm out there! The world has gone boinkers! π (not bonkers β thatβs too normal)
The Maybelline Baby Lips lipbalms are quite highly raved among lip balm users. It promises to give you baby soft lips with regular use and many people agree with this claim. It helps of course that its affordable too.
Personally, Iβm not much of a lip balm user but I do have a couple of these Baby Lips lipbalms and the few times I have used them, they do live up to their claims of keeping lips soft. The up side is that they donβt leave my lips feeling oily. You know how some supposedly moisturizing lip balms do that? Slick on a layer and you get this oily or waxy film on your lips. Eww!
Maybelline, being a sponsor of the New York Fashion Week that was in February 2012, released a limited edition flavour in Protecting Berry in limited edition packaging. Limited edition lip balm, yo!
This limited edition item, is a limited edition flavoured Baby Lips lip balm in limited edition pink, black and white packaging. The flavour is Protecting Berry and tastes, one would imagine, of berries.
Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm L-R: Protecting Berry (LE), Mango Pie, Cherry Velvet
There are also 2 other new flavours in the Baby Lips lip balm range released alongside the LE one β Mango Pie and Cherry Velvet.
I tried Mango Pie (because Iβm a little afraid of trying anything flavoured with Cherry. Iβm always reminded of cough mixture!) and although it tastes sweet, it does taste of fresh, ripe mangoes! It is quite nice, because I do like eating mangoes and this reminds me that I havenβt bought any fresh mangoes for a while π
Texture wise, its smooth, soothes my lips, and does not leave it feeling waxy and oily or sticky. Lips do feel softened and that mango scent and taste does linger. After a while, I got a bit sick of it. I donβt like these things to linger. It might explain why I donβt use lip balms a lot, and when I do, I go for something unscented.
Still, for fans of lip balms, you could do worse! Do tell me if you want to read something more than βMy lips felt nicely moisturized without feeling oily and sticky but the smell and taste, albeit nice, gets on my nerves after a whileβ π
Have you seen these around? Do you own any of the 3 Baby Lips lip balms shown here, or any previous incarnations? Like them? Or maybe you are like me and just canβt get the hang of using lip balms at all π

Hi! Iβm new here, but I love these cute little babies so I think we already have something in common. I have Mango Pie and I absolutely adore it. The scent is pretty strong, though. I really had to hunt for it because I didnβt really find it anywhere in Hyderabad!
