Insta-Updates: Weapons of mass (pimple) destruction (I hope!)

May 8, 2012 Paris B 30 Comments

I’ve been battling chin acne/spots/pimples for a few weeks now, and here’s what I picked up yesterday in a bit of desperation. I’d run out of tea tree oil which I use often for spots, so it was a good time to pick up another bottle. The Thursday Plantation Blemish Gel is something new I’m trying out in the hope it’ll work. Has anyone tried it?

I was using my acne busting kit which had worked marvellously before but this time, isn’t working its magic for some obscure reason. I’ve also cut back all my skincare down to the very minimum and stopped all new products. Something tells me its not product related and could well be hormones, in which case, BUMMER! I’m just going to have to sit it out! 😛

Keeping my fingers crossed these weapons of mass destruction work!

Haha, I was looking at this and Clinelle blemish gel last week, couldn’t decide which to get but I still have some time b4 I finish my Clarins blemish control. Please share the review soon.

I always get bumps on the chin area, and yes, it’s related to hormone. ( My gynae and TCM doc told me ) Mine are all the ones without “head”, so they took ages to heal. They swell and red and painful to the max… >_<

I swear by Clinelle’s blemish gel. It’s one of my holy grail products (and trust me, I have very few HG products) and I hope to god they never change the formula.

Thnx Isabel n Lavender for sharing. btw, yours is what kind of acne… i mean mine are those with buried heads, normally 2 or 3 heads together at 1 spot. By the time the 1st head appear on the surface, I still can’t pop it coz there are 1 or 2 heads beneath that are swelling and painful…. HELP !!!

Ugh! Cystic acne is annoying! I do get those occasionally and I still apply Clinelle blemish gel. What often happens is that the pimple then subsides but just like a volcano, I know it will flare up again someday in the future. There’s nothing to do but to wait until it’s “ripe” and ready to erupt! I’ve not had the two or three in one spot so I can’t comment on that part… sorry!

For cystic or buried acne, I find using a Nexcare patch helps bring it to the surface or flatten it. Try it next time 🙂

I’m using Nexcare acne patch as well. But in my case as Isabel described it, the patch help they went down but didn’t kill’em dead…. On the other hand, it’s kindda “syok” to see the white thing on the patch…. kakaka !

Thursday plantation T3 gel 25g is cheaper (NP 24.80); Clinelle 15ml is around Rm25 during sales (NP 28.90)

How long do u need to use Nexcare before it will bring up the head. I tried it too..but it doesn’t help.
But once the pimple is burst..Nexcare is great. Helps to brings out everything and flatten it really fast.

For cystic acne I find a couple of days will flatten it. It doesn’t really bring up the head, but sometimes it does. I just never know if it will 😛

Clinelle eh? Guess that’s one to bear in mind 🙂 I’ll have to see if these work to reduce the spots or not. Should be “fun” 😛 I had actually stopped getting hormonal spots but this month has been terrible. It sounds like you get cystic acne which is, literally, a pain!

Since I can’t use tea tree oil, I got myself a bottle of organic witch hazel water last weekend. Will see if it works! I also have a bottle of Meishoku’s salicylic acid lotion, but that stuff is very heavy duty.

I haven’t heard of the Meishoku one but witch hazel is supposed to help control oil and reduce spots. Hope it works for you!

I always use ACNES pimple gel on top of calamine lotion. Works like magic. Tea tree does not work for me. I end up using my tea tree oil to condition my makeup brushes.

That sounds like a lethal combo! If nothing works, I might give yours a go 🙂 I like the idea of using the tea tree oil to condition brushes. Do you put it in the rinse water?

haha, no. I am quite lethal with the tea tree oil too. I use it like how I wash my hair, so I wait for my brush to dry till 20% wet, then I just put a droplet onto a dish, and swirl my brush inside. This way, the oil would seal in the water (because it works for my hair)??? This is my logic, no basis. hahaha. It was done in part to make my brush anti-bacteria too.

But it’s a good idea to dilute with water!

Witch hazel works wonders for me! I don’t know what contains that locally, but if someone’s sending you a parcel from US, ask them to try and get the ELF Essential line Zit Zapper. Will last forever too!

    Hello Paris,

so long i havent comment here.
My best acne gel would be Mukti Sebogel.
I learned Mukti from here and tried their Sebogel and it works like magic for me.
just few times application and acne reduced and the smell is so good and natural too.

I looove it. with very little application, it lasts a looong time. It has expired now and i kept it in the fridge (as suggested by the S.A). Still works like magic for me.
I can no longer pump it but still alot left under the cover.

Cheers and all the best in busting out those stubbornness!

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your spot solution 😀 if nothing works I’ll give the one you mentioned a go. I stopped looking at Multi after I had some awful experiences with some products but I guess there are some gems in there 🙂

    hey Paris.B!
I discovered your blog recently and what an amazing job you are doing for all of us..I never expected such a good quality beauty related blog from Malaysia..
Keep up the good work girl!
Ok now about the product, I bought the blemish gel about a month ago and let me describe it to you in detail.
The scent is quite strong like all tea tree oil product. When you apply a generous amount, you will get this icy cold sensation on the pimple spot. In the begining, I was just applying it to the spot where I had the pimple. I applied it twice a day. What happened is the pimple dried and the perimeter around the spot ….hmmm how do i explain this…imagine you have a cling wrap on that spot…it was that glossy and plasticky kind of apperance. Then, I came across a youtube video where this professional makeup artist gave a tip where you should apply any kind of blemish gel in extremely generous amount…imagine the blemish gel across you index finger applied completely to the area of pimple..according to him what this does is it disinfects the entire area and prevent future breakaouts…I tried his way, and on the second day the whole area became extremely flaky(you can see massive dry, flaky skin which is scary and this is common it seems). But guess what, all the pimple dried out and cured in 3 days. The mark might take a little more time to disappear. Overall, I think its a good product to get rid of pimples quicky. Mind you, I had massive acne, so I experienced major dry, flaky skin. If you have tiny, regular pimples then i think you have choosen the right product to vanish your pimples in no time.

    Cheers,
    Mogana

Hi Mogana! Thanks for your comment and for coming by and being so encouraging! 😀 Also, thanks for sharing the tips on how you use this gel. I’ve been applying it all over my chin these past 2 days, and it seems to work better so thank you! It is drying, but I’d rather it dries everything out than for me to have a spotty chin 😛 Will keep trying it and hope it clears everything up soon 🙂 See ya around!

Hi Paris B, thank you so much for sharing this because I\’ve been battling with a lot of pimples on my forehead, chin and now it\’s spreading around my nose lately. I don\’t know what\’s causing it whether it\’s hormonal or because of the poor air quality we\’re faced these days or just my own stress. I ought to give this a try, and I just wonder if you\’ve ever tried the Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel, if you have, what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth it getting an expensive acne gel like that or will this Thursday Plantation Blemish Gel do the trick?

Hiya, just saw this. I haven’t tried the Dermalogica product, but one product I used that worked very well for me is La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (my review is here) which unfortunately isn’t available here but is available online at escentual.com where I bought mine, or if you know anyone in Singapore it’s available there. The Thursday Plantation gel didn’t do much for me and in recent times, the Effaclar is the best I’ve experienced so if you can, try it and I hope it’ll work for you. I hear Mario Badescu also works well but I’ve never tried that one either.
