New! RMK Celebrates their 15th Anniversary with the most gorgeous cheek palette ever!

April 13, 2012 Paris B 47 Comments

If they are handing out awards for the prettiest cheek palette of the first half of 2012, I will immediately hand the award straight to RMK. No questions, do not pass go, do not collect $200 😛 Feast your eyes on this beauty and tell me you disagree. Go on then 😛

rmk 15th anniversary fairy cheek palette

These 2 RMK Cheek Palettes are special limited edition offerings from RMK in conjunction with their 15th Anniversary. This bestselling Japanese brand created by Rumiko (RMK geddit?), a Japanese makeup artist based in the USA has been around 15 years, always lingering on the fringe of my consciousness but never quite grabbing my attention until recently.

I’ve had a very good experience with their Separate Curl Mascara although I’m told it is the Extra Deep W Mascara that really gets the bestseller title. RMK is also known for their makeup bases – base, liquid foundation and powder foundation. I love the Pressed Powder N and I’ve recently acquired the Liquid foundation which I must say is living up to its bestseller reputation. I will say that the colour cosmetics are still a bit too light even for me, but I’ve also picked up one or two items to play with and will report how I feel about them later. For now, I know you want to know what those gorgeous powders are and where you can get them and when!

The 15th Anniversary Cheek Palettes come in 2 shades – 01 Pink Coral and 02 Brown Beige. The 15th Anniversary theme for RMK is that of a fairy garden, which translates into this absolutely exquisite cheek palette. The attention to detail is amazing – just look at the delicate outline of the fairy’s head.

If you are curious to know how it looks after its been used, this is how it looks.

rmk fairy cheek palette

There are 6 colours in each palette and dusting a brush over the palette removes the detail on the fairy’s head. But fret not if you despair over the loss of detail, the plastic sheet that covers the powder bears the imprint of the fairy so it is as if nothing is messed up at all. I love that sort of attention to detail!

  • 01 Pink Coral is a pinky coral powder that you can mix all over and use a light dusting all over your skin or just swirl your brush on the coloured petals to use as a blush. The white is a highlighter.
  • 02 Brown Beige would serve better for those of deeper skin tones or as a bronzer for those with light skintones. The technique is the same. All over for an all over light glow, and focussed on the petals for colour.

The RMK fairy Cheek Palettes will be available in a few days at all RMK Counters at RM150 which I was a little surprised about. Its more affordable than many similar powders out there 😀 Its limited edition though, so expect it to fly off the shelves quickly.

rmk model

The model wears the Cheek Palette in 01 Pink Coral which you can see is a lovely pink flush on her cheeks. Her eyes are done using the upcoming 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow palettes.

Later in the year, RMK will release a couple of eyeshadow and lip palettes as part of their 15th Anniversary collection. Instead of just having one big bang, RMK is rolling out their fun over the whole of 2012. Here is a sneak peek of what you can expect for the eye and lip palettes.

rmk 15th anniversary eyeshadow palette lip palette

The limited edition eye and lip palettes come in a very compact case, a little larger than a tube of lipstick. There is a mirror enclosed and importantly, brushes. If you are familiar with RMK or many higher end Japanese brands, you will know why I’m pleased, because unlike most applicators that I simply toss, these are keepers! Japanese brands usually include a brush, and their brushes aren’t pokey stiff horrible bristly things you might have come to expect. They are exquisite and very perfect.

There will be a warm toned eye palette and a cool toned one (I’m eyeing the cool toned blue one of course) and a lip palette. I’m not much of a fan of lip palettes but I can imagine that this will give you endless hours of fun coming up with your perfect lip colour.

I’m told we can expect these palettes in June 2012 but I’ll update closer to launch date.

Now hands up! Who is eyeing the fairy Cheek Palettes? Aren’t they the most exquisite makeup palettes you have seen to date? It’ll break my heart to actually use it 😛 Have you tried anything from RMK that you like so far? I think their strength lies in their base makeup but if you have tried their colour makeup and have recommendations, please do so – I’m all ears!

Based on what I saw during the preview, it looks to be a very versatile lip palette. I can imagine actually toting this one around because its really compact! I’ll update when its launched.

BeautyBay sells them and they ship for free to the US, but I hate shopping online without swatching products in person first. =(

Always wanted to try their liquid foundation but can’t bear to shell out so much for both the base and foundation. Will you be reviewing it? 🙂

I’ve heard so much about their liquid foundation too and I must say I had really high hopes for it and it didn’t fail me! I do like it a lot! Yes, I will be reviewing it but perhaps not so soon 😉 Still, its a permanent item although I will warn you that I’ve heard of many instances of it oxidising on people, so I recommend trying to get a sample before buying. I was lucky because it didn’t oxidise on me.

yes, it does have quite the reputation! i was reading some of the singaporean forums and some girls have mentioned how it kind of melts in the hot humid weather so i’m a little apprehensive about buying it. can’t wait for your review on it. have a good weekend 😉

The short review is that I love it 😀 No melting or oxidising. Its a very nice foundation. But I do work in an air-conditioned office, spend only a little time in the sun and don’t do anything vigorous while I’m wearing it so yeah… 😉

That is the most tempting cheek palette but I think I will give it a miss. I recently discovered RMK through A Touch of Blusher. Gave their cleansing oil (N?) a try and absolutely love it for how it lifts make up and has a light mint-like scent (: You should consider giving it a try sometime perhaps? Am keen to give their foundation a go in the near future!

Ooh yes! The cleansing oil is one of their top 5 bestsellers too! I have it on stand by and I’m just about done with my current cleansing oil (thank goodness!) so I’m going to break this one out next 😉

Very nice indeed! But I’ve never tried RMK before, huhuhuhu. The brand’s rather unaccessible to me, but it is an excuse to get out of that blasted Sunway Pyramid which has something of everything now, barring me from stepping out of Subang Jaya.

Yep, there are only 3 counters in town I think. Lucky for me, 1 is near enough but I tend to miss it because its less inspiring perhaps? Or maybe because its tucked in a corner 😛

haha, yes, they look so good. But somehow the buy-factor is not there every time I walk pass their counter at Takashimaya (pretty much the only RMK counter in Singapore).

These reminds me of the cuteness that Paul & Joe always have.

I have to agree with you that the counter doesn’t draw me in. Thank goodness for online reviews eh? 😉 I like the mascara and the base products. A friend tells me that the powder foundation is her HG so I’m itching to try that, naturally 😛 RMK and Paul & Joe are quite similar in my mind too 🙂

I bought it’s liquid foundation from RMK pavilion when they first launched in Malaysia, such a good product that gives nearly flawless finish if you build up slowly.
I tried their eyeshadows before, but not so good colour payoff. I hope this blusher Has good pigmentation as the design is so adorable and not to be missed!!!

The blush is quite pretty once you start using it. The colour isn’t too strong, which is good for a blush. I have to agree that the eyeshadows aren’t so good. Even I am not quite keen on them. The liquid foundation is pretty good, I find. Its buildable and doesn’t look thick or cakey or heavy at all <3
