The first trip I made to Hong Kong, I came home with half a Sasa store. I’m kidding. Almost. 😛
With each subsequent trip I make, my shopping hauls get smaller and smaller but comprise products I already use, need or that I actually want. *gasp* I must be growing up! 😛
This time, I just picked up a couple of essentials in the Kose Softymo Cleansing Oil (I can’t believe my “essentials” come from Hong Kong 😛 ) and a couple more items I’d been wanting to have a go at. I know everyone loves snooping into others’ holiday shopping hauls but this is so small, its almost embarrassing.
There was my Sofymo Cleansing Oil which I’d read was being discontinued or getting hard to find even in Hong Kong. But happily, I found that it was still plentiful on the shelves of Bonjour (although I couldn’t find it in Sasa) so rejoice if you love this one too! I also bought a foaming variation too because it looked interesting. I love my Japanese cleansers 😀 I picked up a bottle of Bioderma Micellar cleanser because I’d read so many raves about it. Can’t quite make head or tail of it yet.
I walked past a store that had Camper shoes on 50% off and picked up this bootie type shoe. I think its called the Mamba which is also a deadly snake – just in case anyone’s wondering 🙂 I loved how it looked and how balanced it was, plus the rubber sole had great friction which was quite perfect. Oh it was also very comfy and I’m thinking of taking this out for a longish walk to see how it fares. Its always useful to have a pair of good and nice walking shoes. I also learnt that for me, Camper shoes run small so I had to size up 1 size. Very useful information to file away for future online shopping exploits 😉
And finally, 3 items I’d set out with the intention of buying – L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows and more Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Eyeshadows.
*Midnight Blue should read All Night Blue #06
I already own a few of both and you can expect some reviews to be coming up soon. Both the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill shadows (HKD250) and the L’Oreal Infallible shadows (HKD89) have the same concept and formula – compacted loose powder eyeshadows that looks and feel like cream but apply like a powder. Its hard to describe but they are really good stuff.
And that, as they say, is it! Quite a perfect little haul for me, but quite a pathetic showcase next to some mind boggling hauls I’ve seen 🙂
Do you enjoy reading shopping haul posts? I realise its a bit of a filler at the best of times, but it is quite nice sometimes. Its that voyeuristic pleasure we get, rather like peeping into someone’s closet or room 😉 If you have used any of the above items, please share your thoughts with me? In particular the Bioderma Micellar cleanser thingybob. How would you use it?

Great haul, I love both GAETK and the L’Oreal shadows 🙂 it’s a good thing they are made by the same company.
Paris B says
Yep! The similarities between the GA and L’Oreal are impressive although colour wise, GA still wins hands down 🙂
Mrs Top Monkey says
I love your shoes! Can you believe it – I’ve been looking for a similar pair myself.. should have taken you up on your offer to help buy stuff from HK for me. LOL
Love the L’oreal eyeshadows, look rather posh. Not a good idea in my house though. I’ve caught my little monkey using my brushes and putting on blusher in front of the mirror. Not as bad as catching him using my brushes to sweep the floor!
Paris B says
Darn! I should have pinged you or something 😛 You sure you aren’t on Whatsapp? 😛 And is the little monkey practising to be a makeup artist?? 0_0

A lot of my staples come from overseas too! My moisturiser is from UK (the Singapore variant is not good enough!), my HG cleansing oil is from HKG/TW/Jpn too (It also happens to be Kose Softymo), and my HG cleanser is from TW/Jpn (Perfect Whip).
Kose Softymo now has the foaming version of their cleansing oils and liquids, but I still prefer the originals. Somehow it just doesn’t work as well, so I end up using more, which means they finish faster, which means I have to travel more often to these countries to get my staples etc etc. Btw, the foaming version you got in the blue bottle is a cleaning liquid, not a cleansing oil right?
Paris B says
Yep, this foaming one is the cleansing liquid. The yellow one is the foaming oil cleanser 🙂 Isn’t the world now so global we can shop for necessities from overseas? 😛

I hope Bioderma Micellar Solution works for you! 🙂 I’ve been using it for years now and have no intention to replace it. Yay for Camper shoes! I’m a big fan of Camper. They’re made to last.
Paris B says
I hope so too Amanda! I’ve heard so many good things about it – do you just use it as a makeup remover? So there’s no need for oil cleanser? And this is my first pair of Camper shoes! I’d been wanting one for what seems like forever 😀
Petrina says
Hope you love Bioderma as much as I do! I use it to remove makeup before my normal cleanse in the shower. I really enjoy reading haul posts so keep em coming :).
Ps GA ETK is fab isn’t it?
Paris B says
I absolutely LOVE GA ETK! So expensive, but I think very worth it 😀 Thanks to the suggestions, I’m also using the Bioderma as a makeup remover and then following up with a cleanser in the shower. Not sure how else to use it. But it doesn’t do anything for waterproof makeup, sadly so I still use a separate eye makeup remover.
Petrina says
Bioderma doesn’t remove most Asian mascaras but definitely removes GA ETK 🙂 its very gentle so I also use in the weekend when I come hone in the middle of the day it’s so easy to use this to remove all makeup n dirt and just applying some moisturizer afterward instead if washing with a cleanser and water which can strip the skin. Before I started using Bioderma I used Avene Lotion MIcellaire and Nuxe which are also micellaire waters 🙂
Paris B says
You know, I’ve never even come across micellar waters before this! Gosh! What have I been missing out on? 😉

Don’t mind checking out other people’s haul posts myself. I’m just lazy about my own.
When people ask me if I wanted anything from where ever they’re going these days, I just ask for Starbucks merch not available locally that’s not too bulky for them to carry back. I hesitate in asking them to get fragile stuff like mugs.
Paris B says
You’re a Starbucks collector? 😀 That’s quite cool 😀
synical says
Yeah, you can say that. I collect really specific (and importantly, small) items like keychains, planners and logo stuff, I don’t really do the tumblers, destination mugs or the Bearistas. Of course if I was in the Pike Place store in Seattle, I might go a little crazy…
BunBunMakeupTips says
I love the shoes most! They look really comfortable to walk in for long distances. I need to find me one comfortable and pretty pair of black shoes/boots.
Paris B says
Thanks Bun Bun 😀 They do feel lovely and comfortable. Perhaps not for walking too long but long enough 🙂

Nice hauls indeed. I also bought the softymo cleansing oil during my weekend trip to Macau last month hehehe… 🙂 http://waiyee.blogspot.com/2012/03/weekend-trip-to-macau-lovely-beauty.html

Ooh snap! 😀 That cleanser is awesome for the money 😀

Micellar cleansing water is so famous here in Europe.Almost all the brands will have one micellar cleansing water under them.Bioderma is the most famous among mu artist and celebs too.As Petrina said, yes Bioderma doesn’t remove mascara’s and dark kohl liners completely. There would be still lil bit lurking under my eyes, other than that it removes everything else like a dream, including bright colored lipstick.I’ve tried Bioderma for my whole face during the winter years back, and noticed Im getting bumps after using it.Ended up, I just stick for removing eye and lip makeup. For the whole face, nothing beats my Shu Uemura cleansing oil, been more than 10 yrs I’ve been using it!
Few months back,I tried another micellar cleansing water by La Roche Posay called Effaclar, this time I put it on test to my face, and I must say its wayyy better that Bioderma, thus it still didn’t remove my heavy mascaras and kohl liners(need cleansing oil for this) but face wise its good, doesn’t break me out and skin remains soft after each usage, on the other note it helps with my imperfections too.Its good when u have no makeup days, just swipe this and slap your night cream 🙂
Paris B says
I’d heard a lot about this Bioderma from reading all the blogs out there. I’ve been trying it for a few days and it seems nice so far although I can’t et used to not washing my face after that so I still do 😛 I do still like my cleansing oils though. I feel it cleans my skin better although micellar waters seem to be good for lazy days, late nights and spot removal. I don’t even know if we have micellar waters locally. I’m going to have to start keeping my eyes open in the pharmacies 🙂 will definitely take a look at La Roche Posay the next time I head down to Singapore 🙂
Crystal says
Yeah for bioderma! it has been my makeup remover for years. I wet my facial cotton with lots of that, and just swipe through my face. On days that im using liquid foundation, i would need to use more product but for powder foundation u will need lesser to remove. Minus point is it does nothing for eye makeup so i will have to use a separate remover for that. On the product it says there’s no need to rinse after that but i still continue with a facial foam wash.
i love shopping haul post! camper shoes looking good there! 🙂
Paris B says
Thanks for the Bioderma tips Crystal 🙂 I’ll be giving a go and hope to like it as much as everyone here has. Oh and the Camper shoes are lovely and comfy too!

I’m not quite sure what your question is about. Would you like to ask it again? The details on the brands etc are in the post.
Sam Lim says
Hey, I wondered if you can do a thorough review of the Bioderma cleansing water. I am very interested in it after hearing many different reviews. But do you think we have it in Malaysia?
Paris B says
Hi Sam, I will try to soon 🙂 As far as I know, we don’t have it in Malaysia yet. At least I haven’t heard if it has 🙂
