Pretty in Pink : Will you Pink of me as I am Pink-ing of you?

February 14, 2012 Paris B 27 Comments

I pulled out a couple of things recently to use and was very amused to find them all in varying shades of pink! What better time to showcase them as a group than today – the day of everything pink and pretty and fuzzy and wuzzy 😀

How fitting that they can go on the face and on nails 😀 I’ve got some close ups below and you can tell me which ones you want to see reviewed asap and I’ll do my very best to oblige. They do fit very well together don’t they? 🙂

I’m wearing the Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic today on my nails and I love the colour! Its a gorgeous bright pink on my nails and is quite eye catching, mostly because I don’t usually wear pink 🙂 I know how everyone raves about the formula of Butter London polishes but I must say I wasn’t all too impressed so far. I need about 3 coats to get a fully opaque finish and I find the brush too skinny. The texture did even itself out with a coat of top coat, but I’m not exactly raving about these, or maybe this colour. I will forgive it only because I love the colour against my skin. (£10 – no VAT outside of UK at Zuneta)

Dior New Look 5 Couleur eyeshadow palette in 834 Rose Porcelaine – one of four new eyeshadow palettes from Dior. When I saw the stock photos online, I was quite scared off by the colour but when I saw the palette in real life, it turned out to be a very pretty soft pink palette with a dark purple accent. On the skin, the pink swatches sheer with a white sheen so for once, there is no dreaded pink-eye – trust me on this 🙂 I can see so many of you out there cringing at the thought of wearing this palette already! 😀 (RM210 at all Dior counters)

Got the Benefit Hervana blush a little while ago and have been using it off and on. I still haven’t found a lot of love for it, but I must confess that it has grown on me 🙂 (US$28 at BenefitCosmetics.com)

A bright pink lip to round off the set – Face of Australia Lip Quench Moisturizing Lipstick SPF30+ in Malibu Barbie! A bright bubblegum pink in the tube that applies on lips pretty much as it looks in the tube – an opaque bubble gum pink. Its quite a cool shade but I managed to warm it up a little so it turned out quite nice in the end paired with a smokey-ish eye. (A$9.45 at Face of Australia counters at Priceline and selected pharmacies in Australia)

Well ladies, which item are you pink-ing of then? 😉

OMG! What a lovely pink combo. would love to see FOTD using the combo.
To glam up the pink nail color, u can add silver shimmer at the tip like french manicure.
    thanks and happy valentine’s day!

FOTD done today 🙂 The idea of using a silver polish on the tip is a nice one! I just don’t have hands that steady or the patience to LOL

Dior one for me! haha, cos you’ve already said the nail polish and blush ain’t too good. And I like seeing you wear eyeshadows…

I’ve also got the SA to try Hervana on me last weekend. Was the first time I saw its appearance in Singapore. We are so slow, right? T.T I am totally unimpressed. Flat pink. Have so many of them. I’d totally repurchase Sugarbomb anytime than get the new Hervana. Hmmm, but then… you mentioned that it’s growing on you… … haha, not sure what to think.

Dior wish granted 😛 As for Hervana, I still don’t think it to be as wonderful as all the raves out there. Its not bad, but not wonderful. I must prefer Sugarbomb or Coralista or even Bella Bamba. But then, I do like a bit of shimmer in my blush 🙂

I quite like Benefit Havana. Had it applied on me by one of the girls working at the counter after I had my brows done and I looked so glowy all day. Although it’s the first time I’ve had blush applied properly (not my failed attempts xd) so idk if its the blush or just the technique.

the butter london nail polish is gorgeous!

It could be a combination of the blush and technique 🙂 I find that the smile and blush technique the easiest way to get a fool proof, natural look. Also, a light blush colour that can be built up as opposed to a strong pigmented colour that is harder to control 🙂

My favourite colour! 🙂 I think it’s the Rose Porcelaine that’s starting to speak to me. I must swatch it today. I have a very old Dior quint that I’ve hit pan on multiple colours – PUre Dreams and I think this is a good replacement. ON another note, I’m wearing Chanel Blush de Horizon, I think you might like it 😉 It’s a very cool pink on me and very pigmented. The one dislike is the price factor and the brush being stored separately. Will tell you more 😉

You know what? I don’t even remember Pure Dreams 😛 The older Dior quints didn’t speak to me, perhaps because I wasn’t into these sorts of texture or colours back in the day. I was a late bloomer to makeup which could also be why I missed out on it totally! I do like the look of the Blush de Horizon but am steeling myself NOT to get it unless I see it on sale somewhere. I need some control dammit 😛

Definitely the pink nails! Is the pink lipstick a similar colour to the Revlon Colourburst one that Jessica Alba is endorsing?

I’ll bring the pink nails in a separate post soon 🙂 I’m not sure which pink Revlon lipstick that Jessica Alba is wearing but I could hazard a guess that if you pull out any bright bubblegum pink lipstick, you may have one quite similar 😀
