I don’t know about you ladies, but I am very fickle when it comes to my hair. I cannot seem to stick to one hairstyle for very long, simply because I get tired of it very quickly.
I’ve gone the gamut of long hair, short hair, fringe and no fringe, perms, rebonding, colours of the rainbow (ok not quite but close). Presently, I’m sticking to a short bob because it suits me, in my natural hair colour. But I got bored with my non existent fringe (or bangs as the Americans will have it 😉 ) and when I was at the hairdresser last week for my pre-Chinese New Year haircut, I got it into my head that I wanted my fringe back. To be precise, I wanted not a wispy fringe, but a thick China doll fringe.
Happily, my hairdresser was up to the challenge given my moon face, and obliged 😀
Snip! Snip!
And there we have it – a thick chinadoll fringe that I absolutely adore! Granted, it will be a very high maintenance haircut, but I am loving it nonetheless.
Its a welcome change for me, perfect for the New Year and quite fitting for the coming Chinese New Year.
Oh and the upside is, I suddenly shed the years to look 18 again! Ok, I exaggerate 😀 But it has definitely shed the years and its awesome! Who needs botox or plastic surgery when all you need is a good haircut? 😉
Did you just get a haircut recently? Are you adventurous with your hair? What is the most adventurous hair cut you’ve gotten and do you have a favourite style that takes years off your face? 😀

nice!! i just chopped off 10inches of my hair too..
Paris B says
Wow 10 inches! :O Now, that’s impressive 😀

You look great with a fringe! I cut off my almost-waist length hair and got a fringe about two years ago. Regretted the former and am desperatly trying to get my long hair back, but I’ve stuck with the fringe. It is very high maintenance though! I have to get it cut at least once a month otherwise it goes too long and I have the “shaggy pony” look going on. :/ I also find my forehead gets greasier and more prone to breakouts with a fringe…
Paris B says
“Shaggy pony” LOLOL!! I know exactly what you mean! 😀 I do have to agree about the forehead bit so I take a little more care to wipe off sweat and to keep the area clean to avoid breakouts there. I can’t imagine cutting off waist length hair though. That must have hurt 😛

Very nice. 🙂
I permed my hair recently and people said I look more mature.
Paris B says
Thanks Shay 🙂 I do find that curly hair does do that to us but sometimes, its a good thing! When I permed my hair, I found it so easy to style 😀

PB, you really have a knack for taking super cute pics (read=jealous, 🙂 ). The new look suits you to a T. I am not really adventurous when it comes to my hair. I love mine super long, straight and shiny. Unfortunately, my genes and I have this love-hate relationship (read= grows super slow, wavy and course)!!! Best I have done is straight, perm, straight, perm…you get my drift, lol. Went super short (read= above ear lobes!) boy cut twice in my life….it felt awful despite the compliments from family members (read= bias views as they are not into me keeping long hair). Nowadays need to include dyeing into my hair “plans” due to those unwanted greys….hiazzzz…
Have a great day ahead, ladies!
Paris B says
LOL Thank you Ching! *strikes kawaii pose* 😉 I know lots of people who love long hair and really, if I had the patience to, I would love to try having long hair for a change but nope! Just go with the hairstyle that makes you happy. Ultimately, its your hair! 😀 Have a great day!

It suits you so much! This style can definitely turn out too stiff and be difficult for some people to pull off, but it looks great on you!
Paris B says
Thank you Leila! 😀 I’m glad it doesn’t look like a helmet 😀

haircut? What haircut?
Hahaha.
I’m just waiting for them to grow out because I just finished chemotherapy 😀
You look great in that haircut, Paris.

When I read your comment I went to check out your blog. I’m sorry you are going through what you’re going through but thumbs up for being brave and strong. I hope your hair grows back soon – thick and lush 🙂
Amanda says
No, I don’t think you have a moon face. Your haircut looks quite nice. Fortunate for you. Last time, I tried to make a breakthrough of having fringe. The result? It wasn’t ugly, but neither was it pretty. And I never want to have any kind of fringe again. For my hair, I always play it safe: perms.
Paris B says
Thank you Amanda 🙂 Fringes are such sensitive things – they can really make or break a hair cut! I was a little wary this time round because my last hairdresser botched it up. But its good you know what sort of hair suits you. I couldn’t handle a perm (I’m too lazy to care for it and then I look like a mop 😛 )

You really are rocking that bob! It suits you very well. Most of us have intense bob envy as we can’t pull it off 🙂
Paris B says
Thank you Shuaddict! I think for a successful bob, thick or voluminous hair is a necessity. I have that, but it can also be a pain because no other hairstyle will suit me as well!
Hany says
I like your hairstyle, it suits you very good! I am recently reading your blog and I really like it very much!
I am probably not that experimental with my hair as I have never had a perm, but I often experiment with my length and my hair color, currently I am growing my hair after I had a short bob and I am wearing a fringe at the moment (that I slightly regret because the hairdresser cut it way too short, but now it is already better…). Sometimes I straighten it too, but due to time management in the morning I often leave it at that.
I bet I want short hair again after it has grown for a certain time, we always want to have the things we don’t have (:
