I don’t know about you ladies, but I am very fickle when it comes to my hair. I cannot seem to stick to one hairstyle for very long, simply because I get tired of it very quickly.
I’ve gone the gamut of long hair, short hair, fringe and no fringe, perms, rebonding, colours of the rainbow (ok not quite but close). Presently, I’m sticking to a short bob because it suits me, in my natural hair colour. But I got bored with my non existent fringe (or bangs as the Americans will have it 😉 ) and when I was at the hairdresser last week for my pre-Chinese New Year haircut, I got it into my head that I wanted my fringe back. To be precise, I wanted not a wispy fringe, but a thick China doll fringe.
Happily, my hairdresser was up to the challenge given my moon face, and obliged 😀
Snip! Snip!
And there we have it – a thick chinadoll fringe that I absolutely adore! Granted, it will be a very high maintenance haircut, but I am loving it nonetheless.
Its a welcome change for me, perfect for the New Year and quite fitting for the coming Chinese New Year.
Oh and the upside is, I suddenly shed the years to look 18 again! Ok, I exaggerate 😀 But it has definitely shed the years and its awesome! Who needs botox or plastic surgery when all you need is a good haircut? 😉
Did you just get a haircut recently? Are you adventurous with your hair? What is the most adventurous hair cut you’ve gotten and do you have a favourite style that takes years off your face? 😀

SHHHHHO CUTE!!!! I need a haircut soon too but I’m trying to grow it out >_<
Paris B says
Ah you can see the blog now! 😀 You sometimes need a trim to help the hair grow. I don’t know how it works but it does 😛
Nikki says
you are sooo cute! Definitely a China Doll! hahaha 🙂
I am quite adventurious with my hair and have tried different types of layering and even had full bangs way back! I’ve finally decided to have side fringe because it caused pimples on my forehead!
I hope to have seen you with this hairdo and pinch your lovely cheeks! 🙂
Paris B says
Yes! With a fringe I definitely have to take better care of my forehead especially with all the sweating in this weather! Maybe the next time I see you, I’ll still have this cut 😀
Cas says
You look much younger for sure!! And it suits you well Paris. I’ve always wanted to get a fringe but chicken out the last minute coz I”m afraid I might end up looking like a drag queen. For now I”m just keeping my hair longggg, will cut it once I get fed up of it 🙂
Paris B says
Thank you Cas 😀 I actually did a test by “folding” up my long fringe to see how I’d look and I decided I could live with it 🙂 The plus side of having long hair is that you don’t have to trim it that often = money saved 😛
lyn says
Sho cute!!! The chinadoll look suits you to the tee! Love it!!! I got a haircut on Sunday (ya, trying to cramp everything in before CNY) and the stylist suggested a thick fringe for me too but I declined. I’m not very adventurous when it comes to hair and I suck at maintenance.
Paris B says
Yar! I decided to get my cut in early before the salon goes mad during the CNY period. Last year I was there till nearly 11pm! The maintenance for a fringe will definitely be a hassle but I plan to sweep it aside as it grows and have it trimmed once a month or so which is about the right time for a short hairstyle 🙂
Stephanie/Yukaeshi says
Ooooh very nice 😀 It does suit you and really does make you look younger! 😀
I use to have this hairstyle when I was a kid… then I took a puberty to the knee and my hair became wavy, and getting this kind of hairstyle is a no-go for me anymore unless I’m willing to flat-iron my hair every day and it will just elongate my very long face 🙁 I like it a lot, though!
I’d like to think I’m quite adventurous with my hair though- I’ve had it as short as a boy’s (Crew cut), straightened, permed and coloured in varying shades and types of blonde and brown and red (My current colour and favourite). I can’t do blunt fringes/bangs, so I only recently (Last year) got a side fringe and I have to say it looks really good! Totally changes the look of my hairstyle 🙂
Paris B says
I’m quite lucky in that my hair was very fine as a child so when I had a similar hairstyle all you see is my moon face. But my hair now has taken on lots of volume so it actually looks a lot better now even if it sometimes goes a bit wavy 🙂 I had red hair once and I loved it too but the maintenance is killing! Red fades so quickly.
Tine says
OMG YOU HAVE BANGS! Cute nyeerrr. Definitely younger-looking (bugger now you look younger than me :P). Love it!
Paris B says
LOL Thankd and I’m sure I don’t look younger than you la 😛
espenine says
Oh wow, pretty pretty! Now could you please do a duck pose with new this china doll hairstyle? 🙂
Paris B says
Haha if it happens, it will 😉 Thanks!
jen says
i used to be like that before..
i tried fringe, bob(and my hair is thick my face look puffed lol)layered and everything in between..
but these past few months i haven’t had any drastic change to my hair..
i am really planning on having a haircut very soon!
and a hair dye too! 😀
Paris B says
Yay for haircuts and a dye job! What colour are you planning to go for? I have decided to stop colouring my hair for now (until the grey starts to show) because the maintenance is just killer 😛
jen says
i wanna try the wine color from etude house bubble dye..
i’ve read a couple of reviews about it from bloggers and they were all good!
i like your first pic, u look like a kpop idol! 😀
Jue says
Few months ago I went with the thick bang but was posted overseas for couple of months and haircut was so expensive so can’t maintain it
But I don’t know why even with different haircut my hair still grows out the same. Case in point. Friend that I haven’t met more than 5 years said “Your hair is still the same after all this years”. Is that a compliment or what?
Paris B says
Hmm maybe when she saw you 5 years ago you had a similar style? Or maybe she just isn’t very observant 😉
Swati says
I did get a new hair cut in the year beginning 🙂 and, yes, it is definitely making me look younger and has given a lot of volume on the crown which I desperately need!!! But, I am really bad at maintaining my hair cuts so don’t often tend to be adventurous but sometimes it really pays off!!!
Paris B says
I love getting haircuts – they are so liberating 😀 I sometimes forget about maintaining until I look like a shaggy goat by which time its really sometimes, too late LOL! But it also means I end up with a nice new cut again after that 😀
Monstro says
I am loving your bravado and you look cute as a button! Good move–I love fringes! I did the same thing, except I did it myself a couple of years back! It was crooked but it worked-haha! I finally got sick of having to trim it every 2 weeks, that I’ve grown it out now. It’s a semi fringe now and was irritating as hell during the grow-out. Having said that, here’s a tip: If you go to Peek-A-Boo at The Curve, they will trim your fringe for free–seriously! You don’t even need to pay for a wash. However, if you do a wash and blow plus trim your fringe, you only need to pay for the wash and blow. Thought you might find that helpful in the event you decide not to cut it yourself!
Paris B says
And this is why I love all of you – tips to score a free trim! 😀 I can’t imagine cutting my own hair, really! I cut my friends hair in uni a few times. I don’t know if she ever lived it down hehe… 😉
gio says
Love the new haircut! You look cute and younger!
Jan S says
very sweet haircut, suits your face shape and looks great on you 🙂 nice shade of aqua green eyeshadow too!
ksuan says
You look lovely, Peebs 🙂 x
Paris B says
Thanks Ksuan! 😀
Marina (Makeup4all) says
And I’ve just used a black coluring lotion on my hair yesterday (it will wash off) to get a darker shade and I love it. I used to be blonde, redhead,I even had a purple hair! So, yes, I can’t stick to one hairstyle for a long time, too 😉
Paris B says
I used a black dye once too! My hair looked like a helmet 😀 Now I just leave it natural because I realized belatedly my hair naturally has all these brown/blond streaks in it so why pay to highlight eh? 😉
Jamilla says
You look like a chic China Doll!! I always avoid a fringe now, since I was forced to wear one as a child…but that’s just me!
Paris B says
Thanks Jamilla 😀 I had a fringe as a kid too but I guess I wasn’t quite as traumatized because my mom pretty much let me decide on my own hairstyle 😀
Lingzy says
I went from bang-less to Nicole Richie’s bang just before Christmas too.. as short as yours .. and i love the new look on me! Hehe! And you look great yourself too! Love your new look!
Paris B says
Thank you Lingzy and yay for having awesome bangs! 😀
lavender says
You look so young with the fringe.
I just have my hair cropped during Christmas. My friend asked me what happened? They thought that I had some problem. Ha..ha.. I just want a change.
I am also bored with my hairstyle and would change it at least once or 2x a year. I had boy cut, layered cut, permed, straighten etc before.
Paris B says
Thank you Lavender 🙂 A change is always a good thing – it keeps us alive and I’m sure you look lovely and chic win your new cropped hair! 😀
Denise says
Oh Paris, we have the same chinadoll fringe! I guess the diff between us is that my hair almost reaches my elbow, is colored and rebonded. Eep! I always have to deep condition and treat my hair so it does not, I dunno, fall off due to too much chemicals. Anyway, you’re super cute! And I love your eye make-up. And you remind me of a kokeshi 🙂
Paris B says
High 5 Denise! 😀 Oh maybe half a High 5 since you have such long hair! Oh my I don’t think I’d have the patience to look after much less grow it out to that length 😀 I had to google up kokeshi but they are cute! So thank you 😀
Cece says
Hi Paris, the hairstyle suits you. Leng!
I had a haircut recently too, from bob to boy-like style. Didn’t like it at first coz it was too short. But I like it now 🙂
It’s good to be adventurous. Hehe!
Paris B says
Thank you Cece 🙂 A nice boy crop is perfect for our weather – plus its easy to style and dries quickly too! 😉 I’m sure you look chic and lovely
