Embrace change : Get a haircut and potentially look years younger!

haircut

I don’t know about you ladies, but I am very fickle when it comes to my hair. I cannot seem to stick to one hairstyle for very long, simply because I get tired of it very quickly.

I’ve gone the gamut of long hair, short hair, fringe and no fringe, perms, rebonding, colours of the rainbow (ok not quite but close). Presently, I’m sticking to a short bob because it suits me, in my natural hair colour. But I got bored with my non existent fringe (or bangs as the Americans will have it 😉 ) and when I was at the hairdresser last week for my pre-Chinese New Year haircut, I got it into my head that I wanted my fringe back. To be precise, I wanted not a wispy fringe, but a thick China doll fringe.

Happily, my hairdresser was up to the challenge given my moon face, and obliged 😀

Snip! Snip!

haircut

And there we have it – a thick chinadoll fringe that I absolutely adore! Granted, it will be a very high maintenance haircut, but I am loving it nonetheless.

Its a welcome change for me, perfect for the New Year and quite fitting for the coming Chinese New Year.

Oh and the upside is, I suddenly shed the years to look 18 again! Ok, I exaggerate 😀 But it has definitely shed the years and its awesome! Who needs botox or plastic surgery when all you need is a good haircut? 😉

Did you just get a haircut recently? Are you adventurous with your hair? What is the most adventurous hair cut you’ve gotten and do you have a favourite style that takes years off your face? 😀

You look like a cute school girl, Paris! I used to have such a fringe (mum wanted it) until I went to uni when I just refused to pay to visit the hairdresser as it was too expensive so that’s how my short fringe disappeared! I usually leave everything to my hairstylist as I never know what’s best for me! :p

Haha yes I did think schoolgirl too when I looked into the mirror after my haircut. When I was in the UK, I don’t think I ever cut my hair simply because I couldn’t bear to pay the prices. The only time I did (and got a lovely cut) was before my graduation 😀

Looks younger! Can imagine you in a school uniform (don’t know how are those in Malaysia but imagine you in one of those pinafores) too. :p

I wish to have a bang but I can’t cos my hair is not thick enough. But I suddenly feel like doing pixie again.

LOL!! Yes we do have those awful pinafores here too. I always said that 16 year olds shouldn’t be wearing pinafores 😛 I used to have a wispy short fringe before, but I think a thick one is more fun – time for a haircut? 😉

As for me, I plan to dye my hair soon. Really, really soon. Heh heh heh. I’d like it red, but we’ll see, shall we?

Wohoo… high five for being so experimental with haircuts! 🙂
The straight fringe absolutely cuts down the age, but you look young anyways, Paris!

Oh, and you just reminded me I need an appointment with my coiffeur soon! :p

The most radical cut I had was a pixie cut a few years back and I loved it! Now my hair is up to middle of my upper back and has the natural wave at the ends, I so want to do the pixie cut again but I took me years to get my hair this long – TORN….

I know how you feel! I could never do a pixie because my face shape didn’t allow for it, but when you’ve grown hair that long, its hard to just cut it all off 😛

    So kawaii neh! 😀

I had a similar cut for CNY about 2 years back, but eventually I couldn’t stand the poky bits of the growing out fringe falling into my eyes so I went back to my original (natural) side part.

hehe kawaiiii! 😀 Yep! I forsee me getting irritated once the fringe starts to grow out, especially since the fringe was cut a little long this time to balance off the rest of the face. I guess I’ll have to cross that bridge when I come to it 😉

WOW! You do look like a doll! 😀 It does make you look younger and I think you can totally make it sultry and sexy with the right makeup! Can’t wait to see different looks on you.

The most daring I’ve gone with my hair is a super short faux-hawk. I looked like a miniature shark.

Indeed Peach! I love how with this new hair, I can show off my eyes so I go bold on my eye makeup all the time now. The fringe just really draws attention to it. I have no idea how you look like but a faux hawk is so cute! I could never pull that one off – not edgey enough and face too big 😛

Long hair is really hard to part with – the effort taken to grow and nurture it and then you slice it off. Ouch! 😛

I’ve got frizzy hair so I can’t really experiment with it. In fact, I did cut my hair short at the beginning of 2011 because I wanted “a new beginning” and guess what? I regretted it! Not so much the short hair, but when it was not-short-anymore-yet-not-long-enough phase!

These days, I either rebond it so that I could let it down, or tie it up in a ponytail 😀

I guess I should count myself lucky to have relatively straight hair, although it has a tendency to wave at the worst times. Blow drying it helps but it still has a mind of its own 😛 I know the length you mean which is why I’m never going back there and keeping it short 😀
