I read Viva Woman’s post last week about whether her readers liked to gift beauty products, where the comments were quite a mixed bag; and I was surprised to see it was mostly no.
I, however, personally do. I love giving nice beauty items I like or that the recipient may not normally buy for themselves, because I feel that beauty items are an self indulgence. It’s a way to spoil someone because it’s for them and them alone, unlike a box of chocolates that is usually shared 🙂 That said, like everything else, gift giving and the reasons behind it are a personal thing so there’s no right or wrong way.
However my question to you is, do you like RECEIVING beauty products as gifts?
I do (naturally!) 😀 It’s always fun to play with something new or perhaps something you’ve been wanting to try but didn’t get round to. Bath and body products are always nice, as is something tailored to your likes; like a nail polish or lipstick colour you like, or something that pushes you out of your comfort zone.
Of course they aren’t the only gifts I like receiving. To me, a gift is something personal so anything at all is a good gift because it means the giver thought enough of you to give you something at all! 🙂
Your say: Do you like receiving beauty products as gifts? Or perhaps you think it too personal because of scent, ingredients, colour preference etc and would prefer receiving non beauty items?

I like giving and receiving beauty products 🙂 But if it’s a present from someone important to me, it doesn’t really matter what it is 🙂
That’s so true right? The gesture says a lot more than the gift sometimes provided its from the heart and not given out of obligation 😛
Of course! 😉 As long as it’s not generic supermarket soap! (ooh, snob here)
Haha… Lux? 😛
I love beauty gifts!! Some of the best presents I’ve received are beauty related products! As for me, I love to gift girlfriends with beauty products.
I do like giving beauty gifts to girlfriends too! And those who aren’t so into beauty stuff usually appreciate it, ironically LOL!
I would! 😀 But I’m generally quite picky about it (Because of my sensitive skin) so I always say I prefer gift vouchers so I can pick them up myself 😛 I would also love tech-related stuff/gadgets, and oh, books definitely!
I used to think of getting gift vouchers as gifts too but I never have unless absolutely pressed for time, because I always feel that its so clinical even if its very practical 🙂 But yes, for those with sensitive skin, I can imagine it would be quite a nightmare to receive products you can’t use :p
I do! As long as it is not fragrances or shampoos, because that is very personal indeed. I’m fond of soaps and creams, specially if they are very different from the average stuff. I’d love to get makeup, but after you get used with high-end stuff it is hard to look back – but I’m very fond of some well-known drugstore brands.
I’m and a 49-year-old gentleman, I’m going on a first date and I picked out a gift box from Japan with Royal jelly cherry blossom Essence face masks, and a gift box from Korea with rose water Essence face masks in it is that appropriate for a gentleman to give a woman on a first date.
