I may just be more diligent using the Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy creams

December 13, 2011 Paris B 17 Comments

I don’t know about you ladies, but I’m awful at using things like body lotions and hand creams. I either forget or I use them and then hate when the oil marks everything I touch. When I remember, I apply hand cream before I sleep. When I don’t, its hello dry, peeling skin!

A while ago, I received some goodies from USA based brand Camille Beckman and its taken me a while, but I’ve finally been diligent enough to give it all a go.

These 1.35oz (38.27g) tubes of their bestselling Glycerine Hand Therapy creams are perfect for stuffing into your handbag and taken with you when you travel. In this season of gift giving (or any season for that matter) I think it worth being made a stocking stuffer as they retail at just US$4.95 each and go a long way.

Plus your gift recipient would thank you for it, because it does a pretty decent job at softening hard skin on hands and tackling dry hands. Best of all, for me at least, it isn’t oily and absorbs quickly, so I don’t end up marking every surface I touch. This is something I personally find important in tropical countries, because so many hand creams are made for temperate climates that can be too thick, heavy and oily for us in the tropics. This one does a good enough job on all counts.

Camille Beckman has a very large bath and body collection in a mind boggling array of scents from the fresh to the floral to the foodie.

One of their bestsellers is the Glycerine Hand Therapy in their signature scent Camille which is shown here in a 1 oz tub. It is a light floral scent of roses that isn’t overpowering and is very nice. It comes with a pretty handmade rosebud on the lid which is another signature touch in many of the floral scented ranges.

Camille Beckman prides themselves on offering affordable, well made products in an eco friendly environment and are available at selected speciality gift shops in the USA and Canada or online. They do offer international shipping to some countries, but I do not think they ship to our part of the world (South East Asia). It is a pity, because I do think we can benefit from this lovely little brand too. That said, what you could do is drop them an email to find out if they will ship and if so, the shipping costs. I sometimes find that smaller retailers will respond to an email request on an ad-hoc basis.

I’ll just run down the scents very quickly for you (based on how I perceive them) – all the texture is similar. You only need a small little bit to get a lovely silken touch.

  • Morelia Monarch – a warm vanilla scent that is slightly sweet
  • Tuscan Honey – a sweet scent of honey
  • Jade Dragonfly – a fresh ocean scent, like you just stepped out of a shower
  • English Lavender – A delicate scent of lavender, not too strong nor overpowering
  • Lime Leaves – a fresh scent with a zing of lime
  • French Vanilla – a warm scent of vanilla

There are others – Pink Grapefruit, Rosewater, Lemon Mint just to name a few. Based on the ones I tried, although I’m not a fan of food and sweet scents, I found myself preferring those as opposed to the fresh scented ones I usually go for. The scent was more well rounded and just smelt better to me, without being cloying and overpowering the way warm, sweet foodie scents tend to be.

In a nutshell

Very affordable hand creams that do an amazing job at keeping the skin of my hands smooth and silky without an oily residue. It works well in warm tropical weather and does not feel heavy at all. It comes in various scents ranging from the fresh to floral to foodie and I found myself rather liking their food and floral scents because they aren’t too overpowering or cloying or sweet. The tube packaging is compact, affordable and portable plus you only need quite little for your hands.

Pros: Hand cream that absorbs quickly leaving hands feeling silken and soft, Helps get rid of hard dry skin, Available in many scents to suit most noses, Food and floral scents aren’t too strong or sweet or cloying, Tube packaging is compact and practical and portable

Cons:  Unavailable outside of USA and Canada, International shipping is available only to selected countries worldwide but you can try and email them

If you are looking for an inexpensive stocking stuffer I’d suggest these. They are practical, compact and are just lovely all round. Plus you get to gift something a little different from the normal brands and that’s one way to ensure your gift stands out 😉

Are you diligent about using hand creams or am I the only slacker here?

I’m super diligent about hand creams. So diligent that I use it each time I wash my hands. I really do run through hand creams very quickly. It’s the one product I’m not afraid of in stocking up and I have multiple hand creams floating about everywhere: bathroom, bedside table, dresser, lounge, study, car, work, handbag 😀 I wish I’m more diligent with cuticle creams though!

Thanks for this, I’m always curious to try new handcreams, might give this a go since they do ship to Australia!

Wow! I have hand creams here and there and hardly ever use them. But recently, because I apply body oil every night, I’ve realised that my hands aren’t as dry as they used to be so perhaps its not that bad 😉

I’m bad with hand creams and body lotions although I always seem to be stocking them up when I find scents I like, hoping that I’d start making it a habit. Been failing so far >.<

You and me both! 😛 Now I just skip all sorts of body lotions/hand creams because I just know I won’t use them and go for shower gels 😀

I’m really lazy with hand creams and lotions, too. My hands don’t really get dry, but my feet could always use cream. I hate that sticky feeling so I definitely love ones that absorb quickly! Thanks for the reminder that I need to be more diligent!

Oh feet! I don’t apply anything on them oops! I remember in winter, my legs would get dry and scaly because of the cold dry air and I’d be awful about applying lotion or creams. Eeps!

Yes! The condition of the hands is very telling on the age of a person 😉

I think I need to be more diligent as well! I seldom apply lotion on my body and I only apply it on my hands (once in a very blue moon, before I sleep) despite putting bottles of lotion beside my bed, on my work desk, in my handbag…. I read that we should apply lotion after we wash our hands as washing can be quite drying to ours hands. But I hate the grease that I would leave on my keyboard after applying the lotion. 🙁

but for the sake of the skin, shall make it my new year’s resolution to be more diligent with application!

I used to be very irregular with body lotion because of the same problems – sticky oily feel. But ever since I switched to body oils I’ve been very diligent mostly because I love the smell of the blends 😀 I apply them before bed and its so comforting and I do think it’s helped the skin on my arms and legs be more moisturised and just generally look better too! 😀 So try body oils 😉

Although i have little love for their other products, I really like Loccitane’s hand creams.

I carry handcream in my handbag for regular application.

I used to like Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy 😀 I still do actually but they start feeling greasy too although they keep dry skin at bay

My wife loves Camille Beckman. Just an fyi, they will ship international, you just need to specify where and pay the shipping cost! Their customer service was very accommodating and helpful with giving us a shipping estimate. I have also found it on amazon and other websites too!
