Alright ladies, if someone will want to pass the ketchup I’d like to eat my words now about not liking any BB Creams. Right after I make a momentous declaration like that, the cosmetics world erupts with BB Creams and I’m bombarded with them left and right. Some I like (Diorsnow BB Cream, Garnier BB Cream (I really like this and its affordable!)) but for the most part, I’m still ambivalent about them. At least I don’t hate them anymore 😛
Well, I’d just like to add one more to the “like” list – this is a very short list because I’m so picky. Its the Lioele Triple The Solution BB Cream. Odd name but there you go. Its a Korean brand so that might explain some of it away 😛
I must draw attention to what is printed on the tube “This product makes your skin moist as yogurt and hyaluronic acid supply moisture and nutrition“. “makes skin moist as yogurt“?? Seriously? 😯
Engrish aside, to be honest, I was prepared to dislike this BB cream because its a Korean formula and whilst I realise that the Koreans are the ones who popularized BB Creams and who, some say, have the best formula, I dislike most Korean made BB Creams because of poor colour match, oiliness and heavy texture. I know you are only supposed to use a tiny amount and I know about having to spread it thin. I also don’t buy into the all in one hype. To me, a BB Cream is a tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen or just a light tint of colour so I use it as foundation, nothing else. Now we’ve gotten that out of the way, I must say I like this Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream.

For some reason, when I saw the packaging, I immediately thought of Harlequin. Do you see that in your minds’ eye too? This BB Cream comes in a large 50ml tube which is a very generous size, considering all you ever need is a tiny little pea sized amount.
It pumps out from a nozzle that is easy to control so you don’t really end up pumping out more than you need. The texture of this BB Cream tends to be a little thick so you don’t really need a lot, as it offers medium coverage. I usually pump about half a pump on the back of my hand, spread it out thin and then apply to my skin.
The product as I’ve noted, is a little thick but it has stretch, so a little bit covers a wide area. On first application, I get a bit of a light cast but it quickly adjusts to my skintone and really, is a perfect fit for my skintone. I don’t know how anyone with darker skin will fare to be honest.

Can’t see the blended bit? Good 😛 Its a good fit for my skintone. Coverage is sheer-medium and that swatch I did up there is way too much for my face. I suggest using just under half a pump, use your fingers to spread it out and warm up on the back of your hand before applying to your face. It should just be a thin veil on your skin, not quite the same way you apply liquid foundation.
But the primary reason I place the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream on my “like” list is that it does not turn my skin oily nor do I look oily even by the end of the day! Granted, I do apply a very thin layer of the Meteorites Pressed Powder or a light dusting of loose powder to set in the mornings. But even when I don’t, I only get a slight sheen that is easily dabbed away with tissue or a blotter. I find that impressive, and it seems to photograph well for me (example here).
The triple benefits it claims to have are whitening, anti-wrinkle and a sun protection factor of 30. I would attest to a brightening effect on the skin. If you apply it too thick it may look artificial, so don’t over do it. Slightly under half a pump, blended out is the way to go. I can’t tell if there are anti-wrinkle effects. Perhaps if you use it for the long term and an SPF30 is of course a good thing. What I appreciated is that on the box, Lioele tells you to apply this after your skincare. So they don’t go round touting this as the all in one replacement for your skincare, but as a base makeup and that is really what it is.
In a nutshell
An affordable Korean BB Cream that I like because it gives medium coverage without feeling too heavy and because it does not oil up in our hot humid weather. If you use too much it can feel heavy on the skin so I recommend using half a pump or less and to blend it on the back of your hand before applying to your face. The texture then is light. There is some skin brightening effect and I don’t know how this will look on darker skintones but I think it’ll work quite well for those with light-medium skin tones. The 50ml tube will likely last you forever and a day.
Pros: Lightweight texture if applied right, Does not turn my skin oily, Good colour match for me, Medium coverage and can double up as concealer if I’m not fussy, 50ml is a big tube
Cons: Strange metallic smell, Some may find the texture too thick
Oh and I forgot to mention that there is a strange metallic scent that I find strangely off putting. It lingers for a bit too so if there’s one thing that will stop me from using this in time to come or one reason why I won’t use it, is this. Texture wise, its very good.

You might be able to see that the texture of the Lioele BB Cream is the thickest of the 4 swatches, followed by the Hada Labo BB Moist Cream and Garnier BB Cream in descending order, both of which are markedly lighter. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation has the lightest texture and a very nice sheer coverage too but you do use more compared to the Lioele BB Cream.
It is interesting to note that barring the Hada Labo BB Moist Cream which is clearly too yellow on my skintone, the others are a foundation match for me, looking very natural on my skin. I wear the Garnier BB cream on weekends and off days when I just want evening out of the skintone but I will wear the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream on a work day because it functions more like a foundation and offers a better coverage. Plus I know I sound like a broken record but the non oily factor really impresses me.
Oh and if you’re wondering if it “makes skin moist as yogurt” my answer is no. It does not make my skin dry, it does not oil me up, but I’m not feeling like fermented milk either 😛
Have you tried the Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream? Or are you over the whole BB Cream thing? I am, to be honest. I still prefer using a foundation any day. But this one just slipped under the radar and under my skin 🙂

Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream SPF30 PA++ retails at RM89.90/50ml online and in most Parkson department stores.
I tried the garnier bb cream and hated it. Read so many good reviews and was really excited to try a western bb cream and it turned out to be horrible. Very sheer, stinks and the color is too dark (thankfully its so sheer that unless I apply too much the whole off color isn’t noticeable). maybe the asian is better? Anyway, I do like bb creams. I don’t believe the claims about skin improvements- that sounds ridiculous to me, but at the end of the day it gives me nice coverage and allows me to skip out on sunscreen if I’m in a rush and generally just feels nice on the skin : ) This bb cream looks good- this isn’t the first good review I’ve read. Trying to resist buying too many bb creams though- gotta use up the ones I got first 😛
Hi C so sorry to hear you didn’t like the Garnier BB Cream. A friend of mine tried the European version and broke out from it. I do however think that the Asian version is quite good in terms of texture and colour match 🙂 I think its interesting how we all don’t buy into the BB Cream hype about the skin improvements (I still prefer using skincare!) but we still use it anyway 😉
well it seems BB creams are just another name for foundations, then I am better off with foundations, especially when most BB creams are way too fair for me and all that skin benefits thing is totally unconvincing I feel..>.<

I too actually don’t like bbcream all along, even liquid foundation too although their coverage are sooo good, seems to me they kinda clog pores easier thus bumps coming out more (acne-prone skin here). But for the first time i finally spread abit using a sponge, well used it as a primer/base with innisfree mineral bb…yes i shined after few hours but heck i felt the skin some how’s not that stress and heavy-cakey feel. I dunno if it will break me out, but am sure gonna try a few of your favorite ones, do hope they have miniature size. I heard baviphat magic is very matte and non oily too. for me, i prefer Garnier BB cream then the Maybelline one coz garnier really suit my skin and the consistency is good. maybelline bb cream is too runny and the color is badly match on my skin.i want to try this but the price is too…hmm
I’ve always hated bb cream but i have been using this one for awhile! Totally in love! The coverage is amazing! Haven’t used it that long to notice all the other things its supposed to do (anti-wrinkle, moisturizing, whitening) but the coverage is good! I have very dry skin and this didn’t make my skin look flaky or anything! i haven’t gotten many many compliments while wearing this. People would constantly tell me my skin was flawless (which it isn’t). Over all best BB Cream i have used so far!
