Worth A Revisit : Eucerin Sensitive Skin PH5 Wash Lotion For Body And Face

October 6, 2011 Paris B 39 Comments

Some things just don’t seem to need reviewing or writing about, but they are probably the items we use the most often and use UP the most often too. In my case, let me introduce you to the Eucerin Sensitive Skin PH5 Wash Lotion, a face and body wash for sensitive skin. I wrote about this way back in 2007 and although the name has changed a little, here it is again nearly 5 years later! A product with lasting power for this fickle minded female! 😀

eucerin ph5 washlotion body wash review

I don’t have sensitive skin as a rule, but I started using this one a few years back after being introduced to it, and because I saw it on sale at Guardian. Any resolve I have is always weakened by a pharmacy sale 😛 I like to buy the 1000ml bottles when they are on sale, that come free with the smaller bottles of the same wash lotion. I use these everyday anyway, so any saving is always a good thing.

You might be wondering though, why I use this so often, although I love switching body washes? If you look at my shower caddy, its PACKED with hair, body and face washes but I always come back to this one.

The primary reason is because this is the only body wash I can use that I know will not tear my hands apart. I have sensitive skin on my hands. Weird right? Nowhere else, just my hands. So any body wash that is too chock a block with chemicals or are too drying will dry out the skin on my hands. So I always go back to the Eucerin PH5 Wash Lotion.

It is your regular body wash and honestly doesn’t smell all that wonderful. Certainly not as wonderful as the perfumed body washes out there. But it works a treat for me, does not dry out my skin, helps heal my hands when I have gone on an experimental bout and if I’m really really lazy, doubles up as face wash!

Yep! It says on the bottle that it can be used for body and face and I’ve tried it, and honestly, yes it works well. It cleans the skin without leaving it feeling dry and tight, and doesn’t have that squeaky clean feel that I associate with some facial washes. Its quite gentle and it does the job well. Foaming is minimal but that’s fine by me.

Have used up bottles of these stuff, and as things will have it, will likely use up bottles more!

In a nutshell

An affordable body wash formulated for sensitive skin that cleans the skin well, and can even be used on the face. Foaming is minimal and the scent isn’t too floral or yummy, but it isn’t unpleasant either. It cleans my skin without making it feel dry and tight and when I have problems with most body washes, this is the one I come back to over and over again.

Pros: Non drying on the skin, Can be used on body and face, Minimal foaming, Very good for my sensitive hands

Cons: Some might consider it pricey

As I’ve said, I wait for promotional packs and buy the 1 litre bottles because I use them up often. Very often, promotional packs are released towards the end of the year, and partway through the year and go for something like RM59.90. I believe they come in a few sizes 250ml, 500ml and 1000ml. I don’t consider these pricey, but the prices can be considered a little high if compared to other pharmacy brand body washes, but not too high if compared to other body washes for sensitive skin.

Have you tried this one before? What is one item you use over and over and never think of telling anyone about it, because its always just there? And this, beauty bloggers is also why you don’t have to go broke just because you have a blog about beauty. There are so many things you can write about… like your body wash! 😀

Paris B

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Sodium Myreth Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, Citric Acid, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Coco Glucoside, Glycol Distearate, Glycerin, Polyquarternium-10, Diammonium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Salicylate, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha Isometyl Ionone, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Parfum

Eucerin PH5 WashLotion for Body and Face can be purchased at about RM59.90 for 1000ml promotional packs that come with a free 250ml bottle. I’ve seen these mostly at Guardian pharmacies.

    What a coincidence! 😛

I just bought a small travel sized bottle of this body wash to try as it’s way cheaper than the MooGoo milk wash I’m using right now for my sensitive/eczema skin. Going to test it out soon and report back on how it works for me.

I hope it works for you 🙂 It works very well for me but then I don’t have extremely sensitive skin, just sometimes.

Interesting… I always go back to L’occitane Almond bath oil. Love that thing! When I’m on a budget, I just stick to Dove.

I’ve yet to try the L’Occitane bath oils – I hear they are really good stuff. Probably have to give them a go soon 😀

Dettol body wash! Can’t live without this especially at the end of the work day. Just feel like you have to really sanitize all the grime accumulated throughout the day. Plus I really like the ‘clinic’ smell of the original green bottle.

For morning, I love Lux Wake Me Up, blue bottle. Really refreshing and gets you ready to face the day.

For me it’s Sebamed… have finished countless bottles of this stuff. Which reminds me, I need to pick one up soon. It’s really good for my sensitive, eczema skin but it doesn’t smell very nice.

Shamefully, I use whatever that happens to be there 😛 I do have set items I use in the warmer and cooler months though. Cooler months are always lavender-, almond-, honey-based scented washes. Warmer months, I’m drawn towards citrusy-stuff. I basically don’t care what’s on my shelf 😀

Haha I keep buying this everytime I see it on sale. Its an old standby because I never know what will kill my hands when I try a new body wash. Lately I find that the really nice smelling ones are starting to kill my hands too damn them

Is this the one that has the heavy scent? If I remember correctly, I was surprised at how strong the scent was for something targeted at sensitive skin. Sadly, this didn’t do anything for my sensitive skin on my hands 🙁 I had to give a whole bottle away because it made my skin worse. Having said that, my hands are super allergic to almost everything!

One item that’s always there for me is Sorbolene Body Wash. Non-drying and works for sensitive skin. It’s the creamy sort with minimal scent 🙂

Yes it has a strong powdery scent but it seems to be a lot lighter now in this new bottle. So sorry that it doesn’t work for you though. Maybe the fragrance and chemicals irritate your hands more than protect 🙂

My son has sensitive skin, I bought this for him, turn out, he developed rashes, so I guess this doesn’t suit all kind of sensitive skin too 🙂

now, he’s using organic range for kids, RM80+ for 150ml, expensive !!

Oh dear! Sorry to hear that it caused your son to have rashes! I guess its really not meant for ALL sensitive skins – I’m just glad it doesn’t cause me problems or I’d be doomed 🙂

I use Sebamed too, it doesnt matter whether it’s the bodywash for adults or the one for babies. When it’s on sale it’s the same price as the Eucerin RM59.90 for 1000ml with a small bottle as a premium.

Alternatively I like my organic soaps – various brands and smells. I tried a handmade goat’s milk soap before, smells really pungent but it was very good for the skin.

Have also used Loccitane’s Almond bath oil – like it too but too expensive to use all the time.

Recently got a small sample of Eubos Shower Oil but not tried it yet.

Oh now that you mention organic soaps, I like Yuan soaps too! 😀 I have a bar somewhere. I have to go and dig it out. The only thing is that I’m a little lazy to store my soaps properly after use so they get all soft and melt away quickly which is a problem I don’t have with body washes 🙂

Hi Rashmi, I don’t think we have the coloured Maybelline liners. They had a limited edition navy blue one last year I believe but that’s about it. Sorry you didn’t manage to get the UD 15th Anniversary palette too! But Sephora should have a lot of TFSI based on what I saw previously so you should get that at least. As for KLIA duty free, there are now quite a lot of brands available there – Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Anna Sui, La Mer, Shu Uemura and Kiehl’s have stand alone counters. There is also the usual Estee Lauder, Lancome, Dior, L’Occitane, Chanel and a few other regular brands in the duty free stores. I did think of writing a duty free shopping post but wasn’t sure how relevant it would be especially as our duty free here at KLIA keeps evolving! I’ll try to take some pictures and write something the next time I pass through the airport. Hope you get your goodies soon! 😀

I’ve never tried Eucerin before; but my all time favorite is Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath for its subtle, powdery scent. I like the original Dettol soap bar too because that is what my mom used to buy for her outdoor-active kids. 😉 The smell reminds me of my childhood.. 🙂

Eucerin is the only body lotion that works well for my eczematic skin.I use their intensive F lotion.I had bad crocodile skin and my eczemas flared up when I moved to Paris.Immediately I bought the european eucering range( yes its pricier than in Msia lol) wt 10% urea in it.The best, and my skin has improved tremendously and survived well in thick winter. They have cheaper brands of body lotions over here accustomed to the climate, but I always get back to Eucerin 🙂

I seriously dislike the scent. Since it’s formulated for sensitive skin, I wonder why they put perfume in it, (listed under ingredients). Wonder if they have unscented ones instead.
