The Reason I’m Still Blogging Today…

October 9, 2011 Paris B 53 Comments

… is thanks to these ladies – the good friends I have made just from blogging!

ladies
l-r: Xin, Nikki, Beetrice, Rinnah, Connie

Someone asked me once what was the best thing about blogging. My answer was and always will be, the lovely people I’ve met ever since I started over 5 years ago. I’m still meeting more of them as we go on, but this is basically where it all started, way back when we’d never heard of PR, press releases, product launches and “freebies”. When what we had to do was get out there and dig for the information we wanted because there was no one to ask. We just had to go at it for the love of what we do, and we bonded from there. Things have come a long way since then but I’m happy we’re all along for the ride! 😀

Interestingly enough, one of the girls I started bonding with from way back then, hails from the Phillippines. After nearly 4 years of online and Twitter chats, and following her blog, we finally met up with Nikki (Askmewhats) last weekend in Singapore! My my, aren’t we a jetsetting international bunch! 😀

The thing about blogging is also about recording milestones of which this is most certainly one of them in my blogging life.

I’m glad to say we all hit off with Nikki, as we expected we would. 4 years doesn’t count for nothing 🙂 I wonder if she didn’t think us a little more mad than we make ourselves out to be 😛

collage

Thank you to Mr. AMW (Keith) for the excellent photos. I am afraid to say I only took 2 pictures on my camera neither of which was really worth posting. Bad blogger 😛

I love meeting up with the people I interact with online – its one of those things that makes life exciting, and I think my next port of call will have to be the blogging friends I’ve made Down Under – gotta find me a cheapish flight soonish! 😉

bourjois intense

Can’t go anywhere without picking up something right? So here are 2 items I purchased in Singapore. Bourjois was on 20% discount so I picked up the new Bourjois Intense Extrait eyeshadows. I had the original formulations and to be honest, I never really liked them. But these new ones swatched with very intense colour and with good pigment, so I couldn’t resist picking them up. At S$19 each, they aren’t cheap though. Wish someone would bring Bourjois into Malaysia 😛

And this is my tribute to my core bunch of blogging ladies. 5 years on we are still as mad (or perhaps even madder); we gather often for good food and company more than we gather for beauty chatter or sales; the girls I know I can count on for support when inspiration for a crazy project hits and to understand how its like this side of things. “The Girls” have grown in number to include others but these ones (yes, including you Nikki and also you Tine!) will always be the reason I’m still here almost 5 years on 🙂

Thank you *hugs all round*

I know what you mean, it feels great to be able to connect with people through your blog and to find true lasting friendships, that’s what counts. Blogging has also given me then chance to “meet” new poeple. I’m glad you had a great time in Singapore.

You ladies are the reason I’m still blogging too. It’s amazing that even though I’ve moved to Australia and am blogging primarily about Aussie-based products, my main readers are still you darling #evurl girls. Will never forget how you and I first met, and the day I finally met the rest of the girls.

Love you all to bits! xx

We love you too Tine and besides beauty is now so global. This way, we can badger you to bring us back Aussie goodies when you visit yes? Else how would we ever know what’s good from there? 😀 The day we met is now the stuff of legends 😛

I have just finished reading Nikki’s blog and now yours. It’s truly magical how simple blogging forms true friendship – online and offline. =)) Glad to hear everyone had a good time.
