I’ve never been so pleased to see a Friday loom! It’s been a bit of a rough week and I was working really late last night so expect to see puffy-eyed me today 🙁 a perfect time to talk about eye creams 😛
Eye roll on treatments are no longer new to us. In fact, some of us may have even come to expect an eye treatment to come in a roller ball concept. You must admit that its fun and comforting to the eye area to roll the cool metal ball. But what about using a vibrating eye massager treatment device? One that isn’t terribly cheap but which isn’t terribly pricey either?
L’Oreal thought you might like that 🙂 The new L’Oreal White Perfect Micro Vibration Eye Brightener is it. One end is an eye cream that has pink tourmalines and melanin blockers to help brighten the skin around the eye area. This is the same ingredients found in most of the rest of the White Perfect range of products, that started with the double whitening essence.
I took this one for a trial after its launch some time in August. As far as eye creams go I wasn’t expecting to be surprised. But what I was really interested in was the eye massager.
The product comes in a dual ended tube. The eye cream is in the lower half and is clearly labelled as 1 so you know you must apply that first.
The eye cream has a cream consistency which isn’t too thick nor too runny. I usually apply eye creams with my ring fingers (4th finger) as that is your weakest finger and therefore least likely to damage the delicate skin around the eyes. So squeeze a dollop of the cream on one finger, use the other finger to spread it out and then apply to the eye area. I usually run them quickly around the eye and then lightly tap it in.
But since this one comes with a micro massager that goes at 130 micro vibrations a minute why should I do all the work?! Once you have applied the cream around the eye, switch on the micro vibrator, hold the metal bit to your orbital area and let it do the work of massaging your eye area, helping the cream absorb more quickly and to reduce puffiness.
It doesn’t feel uncomfortable really. The vibrations are so fast (130/minute yo!) that you don’t feel it much except as a light buzzing against your skin. The metal is cool which is nice. Does it do its job? I’m going to say yes. The mini massager does take the job of tapping the cream into the skin out of your hands. It also seems to help depuff eye bags that are caused by poor nights. I think it does boost the circulation to the skin around the eye area and that can help with the depuffing action. But how much of it is attributable to the micro vibrations and how much is due to the caffeine in the cream is a little debatable. Caffeine is regularly used in eye creams because it constricts blood vessels and removes puffy eyes. So I’m going to say its a half and half thing.
The eye cream to me is quite normal. It’s not awful but neither is it miraculous. I’m terribly slack with my use of eye cream and from my 1 month use, I have not really seen much whitening or brightening per se. If I have enough sleep, I have brighter eyes. If I don’t, panda alert! So the real draw in this product is the micro vibrating massager thingamajig 😉
This is a dual ended eye product with a cream at one end and a micro vibration massager in the other. The eye cream is not too heavy and spreads easily. It is supposed to have skin brightening properties as with all other products in the White Perfect range. I did not notice any whitening or brightening. However, the micro massager is quite a fun tool. It helps the cream absorb more quickly, and the micro vibrations help stimulate circulation and the cool metal tip helps depuff eyes quite quickly. I don’t know ow long the battery will last though. A fun, but slightly gimmicky gadget.
Pros: The micro vibrating massager is a fun tool and helps depuff eyes quickly, The cream is not too thick nor oily
Cons: Rather expensive for what is essentially a pharmacy brand eye cream, you probably can’t replace the batteries, a bit too gimmicky
For those of you interested, here are the ingredients.
The gimmick factor may put off some. You can bet I had that WTF? moment too when I first saw it. I can’t in all good conscience tell you to run out and get it but if you have been looking for an eye cream and want something with a bit of fun factor you could do worse 🙂 i can’t tell if it’ll be good for those with chronic dark circles. It’s supposed to help and who knows, maybe the micro vibrating massager might. But don’t take my word for it as I’m not plagued by it (thank goodness!)
Have you tried this? Does it work for you if you’ve given it a go? Do you have dark circles that this has worked on? I’d love to hear of your experience 🙂

The L’Oreal White Perfect Micro Vibration Eye Brightener retails at RM69.90/15ml at all L’Oreal counters. They go on sale now and then so watch out for that if you’re keen

Dark circles! Mine are ridiculously crap! I’m willing to give this a go! The only thing that’s worked on my dark circles: NOTHING. Which is why I’ve resorted to concealers!
ParisB says
Actually there’s research that shows that nothing really “cures” dark circles. Sometimes its just genetic. I don’t have a dark circle problem but I do have a bit of a puffy eye problem. Bah!
shannen says
have been waiting for this review! ok.. i save the RM70 and wait for your Kiehl’s review.
ParisB says
Haha! Well the Kiehl’s eye cream isn’t too bad, honestly. It smells lovely. But its not doing very much for puffy eyes – seems to make my eyes look a little less tired but then I’ve been having sporadic good and bad nights so results are quite debatable 😛
shannen says
ah.. how about dark circle?
ParisB says
I don’t have a chronic dark circle problem Shannen but I’ll observe anyway. For now what it does do is keep the eye area looking fresh in the mornings but not necessarily brighter or solve the dark circle problem if you have one. Will update in my review to come 🙂

I was so excited to use this when I first got it, and would massage my undereye everyday (and night!) without fail! But after a while, I just got tired of doing it. I mean, it can be quite a chore after some time – as if we’ve got not enough skincare routine as it is! And I agree with you, the eye cream is really just erm, so-so. But hey! The vibrating massager is indeed a fun tool, if you ladies know what I mean 😉
ParisB says
Haha! Yes! I fully agree. Its fun initially but after a while, it gets to be a bit of a chore 😛 I have it on my dresser so if I’m not too tired at night, I’ll give it a once over but otherwise as you’ve mentioned, its a bit of a bother. And Ahem! I’m sure I don’t know what you mean 😉
Nikki says
WOW! I want this! I hope it’ll arrive our shores! I like the metal rollball!!!!! I am currently using the Clinique one and I love how it has a cooling feeling 😀
ParisB says
I’m sure it’ll be there soon Nikki! 😀 You can now not only roll but vibrate too!
xin says
i tried it at the guardian 😀 it wasn’t too bad but is rather pricey
ParisB says
That bzz feel is a bit strange right?

Now I”m intrigued with the massager, a cool tool really. But really hoping the eye cream is also good at brightening my eyes. Great gimmick nevertheless 🙂
ParisB says
It sure does grab our attentions, that’s for sure! 🙂 If you do try it would love to know if it helps brighten your eyes 🙂
Jamilla says
I have tried this (it’s non-whitening in the UK), and I prefer the Estee Lauder Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator!
ParisB says
I’ve tried the EL one too! Didn’t think too much of that either 😛

I bought this on a whim after reading about it in a magazine — it was an advertorial so it only said good things — and I’ve been using it for more than a month now. What I found interesting that the mag said was that you can still use the massager with other eye creams AFTER the Loreal cream has run out (implying that the battery can actually last longer than the eye cream!), so the investment is more in the massager rather than the eye cream (which i agree is just a standard pharmacy eye cream).
And interestingly again, I found out it’s not difficult to change the batteries at all! (OK, I haven’t had to change yet, so haven’t actually done it). But one day my massager actually “fell apart” and I saw what the inside section and battery looked like! It actually uses that kind of small flat circular batteries that you use in calculators. So you can actually easily pry open that blue cylindrical section just below the metal roller by placing your finger at the switch part, and voila! you’ll enter the battery compartment! 🙂 (It’s a weak “snap” mechanism so gently pry open then snap back.)
In terms of effect, frankly I think any effect on my dark circles and eye bags is psychological!! (I’ve always known dark circles are immensely hard to get rid of, and my eye bags are largely hereditary.) So I just use the massager for the “psychological” effect of thinking I’m giving my under-eye area a bit of a circulatory boost (for whatever it’s worth), and since I’ve already bought it, have to justify my expense right? 🙂 In fact, I’m still using the massager with another eye cream that I had already started so thought I’d finish that first, and my Loreal eye cream is almost intact after using the massager for more than a month!
ParisB says
Hi Polly, thanks for sharing your views on this 😀 Also, I didn’t know that the battery was replaceable so thank you for that tip! I can imagine we could easily use this with any other eye cream or just for fun because it does seem like it does something – even if psychologically 😉 Good to know it works for you… even if its just the massager bit 😉
papercrown says
may i know how much is this product?? i hope it is not more than RM 50 :S
ParisB says
Hi the prices are listed at the end of the post. This one is RM69.90/15ml

I couldn’t help but giggle since there’s an actual store named Good Vibrations that sell…well, vibrating products. It looks like a fun way to apply eye cream, and such a plus that it actually does its job. 🙂
ParisB says
Mmm…. With a vibrating little thingy like this the innuendos have no boundaries 😉 it’s a decent enough tool… For the eye area 😛
lavender says
Sounds like an interesting product. Thanks for the review.
ParisB says
It most certainly is, if you like the bzz bzz side of things 😉
