I’d like to introduce to you today, one of my favourite-est pressed powders. Oil control? Check! Smooth even finish? Check! Pricey? Check and check! 😛
Unfortunately, ladies quality like this doesn’t come cheap. This is the RMK Pressed Powder N which somes with SPF14 PA++ and comes in 5 shades. This is just one of them. What this powder is, is a setting powder. A powder you apply after you are done with your base makeup – concealer and foundation. When you are done, dust this all over, and it sets the base, keeping you looking flawless all day. I kid you not! I wear this one over BB Cream or liquid foundation and I’m pretty much shine free by the end of the day and skin takes on this luminous smooth look I’m absolutely obsessed with at this point in time 😛
The powder is sold separately from the case, which is something I find common in Japanese makeup. Perhaps Japanese use palettes a lot more? I don’t know. But you don’t need to buy the case if you don’t want to. But I’d suggest you do, because if you don’t, you’d miss out on that absolutely lovely brush that comes included in the two tiered case.
The powder has a strip of shimmer which isn’t obvious on the skin so don’t worry about it. The colour at the bottom is the translucent powder that has one shade common to all but 2 of the powders. The top white side is common to all but one of the powders and the side that is blue is the one that differs the most in all 5 shades. Here is an extract from the RMK webpage to show you what I mean.
5 RMK Pressed Powder N powders – 01 Pale White, 02 Pale Pink, 03 Pale Blue, 04 Natural Beige, 05 Bronze
The different colours perform different functions. Pink, I’m told is for brightening the skin. Blue (03) is is for toning down redness and that’s the one I have. There is one that is darker (05) which can be used as a bronzer.
If you are wondering, no. The blue does not apply as a blue on your skin. What the RMK Makeup artist taught me, is to use the flat goat hair brush included in the case to first, brush across the top half of the powder. Then apply this around the eye area. The blue tones down redness and it helps diminish the appearance of dark shadows under the eyes. This is especially helpful if you have reddish circles like I sometimes do and the effect is very subtle. The white powder brightens the area around the eyes which draws attention in.
Then, brush the bottom half of the powder and apply to the rest of the face in a downward motion so set your makeup. You can also mix up all the colours and apply to the skin. It is very very translucent and does not show up at all except as a fine setting powder. It, in fact, looks and feels like nothing on.
But the magic really happens as the day wears on. I complain about some… alright, most BB Creams making my skin feel and look oily as the day goes by. Some more than others. If I use this powder, the ones that make me slightly oily don’t and the ones that make me very oily, only give the merest sheen on the skin. Ditto with liquid foundation. Note: I do not have oily skin. I do not know how this will help those with oily skins.
I don’t know how it does it, but it manages to keep me looking shine free, and my skin feeling like velvet all day long. It isn’t like the Meteorites (I know some of you are wondering already). It does not add that sort of glow to the skin that Meteorites gives. But it does give a mattifying appearance that isn’y flat and is very impressive. I use it daily when I use liquid base products and if I don’t, I can tell the difference. Its quite an amazing powder and I’ve already committed myself to a repurchase. The good thing is, now that I have the case, I can just repurchase the pan. The brush included is very soft and, I’m told, the best brush to use with this powder because it picks up the right amount and deposits it on the skin evenly. I have been using it daily for a few months now, and haven’t made a dent in it, so it’ll last a while.
In a nutshell
Get it 😛 Ok perhaps not, after you’ve seen the price. LOL This is a setting powder that is very light textured and has some colour correcting qualities. It keeps my skin oil and shine free all day long, and keeps it feeling like velvet. Its an amazing product that I cannot recommend highly enough.
Pros: Smooth, fine milled texture powder, Keeps skin oil and shine free all day long, Skin feels like velvet even by the end of the day, Not cakey, Brush included is very soft on the skin and applies powder evenly
Cons: Pricey, Powder and case are sold separately
I cannot rave enough about this powder, so I will have to shut up now, before I’m accused of being a sell out LOL I suggest you traipse down to an RMK counter and check it out yourself. I’m not sure if the very tanned can use the lighter shades but there is a medium toned powder and one that’s darker that light skinned girls can use as a bronzer and darker skinned girls, perhaps as a setting powder.
You can also carry this for touch ups, because its just so easy to use, and doesn’t muss up your makeup. Ok, ok really shutting up now 😛

after reading your review last year, i was at the store (drooling ..) hoping to get it. But the box’s shelf-life indicates 12 months -this symbol of the “tub uncapped”. i only use powder on my red oily nose, so i expect it to last me at least 2 years. Isn’t powders in general has a lifespan of 2 years? Have you used this powder for more than a year? If yes, is there any quality difference? umm do we have to closely follow its written shelf-life?

Haha I never do for makeup because honestly, how many of us actually finish up a powder or any makeup in that time? Even if you use it everyday. I am still using my RMK powder and there is a significant dip, but it’s in very good condition still and still works very well.
