If you head down to KLCC some time starting September, you may notice a new cosmetics store open. We are welcoming in a new certified organic brand of skincare into town – Melvita organic skincare from France.
Melvita hails from France and is one of the first skincare brands to be certified organic in France. In fact, the brand has been around since 1983 and has been certified organic since 1991. They are a member of the French Cosmebio body, and are also EcoCert certified.
The focus of this organic skincare brand has been on the use of flowers, plant extracts and natural oils. In fact, these 3 items shown above are 3 of the focus items in the Melvita brand – Floral Water, Extraordinary Water and Beauty Oils.
The Melvita range is a big one, comprising quite a few ranges and products to address most skin types and skin concerns. The focus, as mentioned is on the use of plants, oils and flowers. The plants are organically grown and carefully harvested and processed as the EcoCert certification is quite strict. Botch up any area and you go back to the Start. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200 😛
This is one of the skincare ranges available – the Melvita Bio-Excellence range which is to address the first signs of aging. The Anti-Aging skincare line as it were. The products come in airless pumps to reduce contamination and preserve it and where possible, are housed in glass bottles.
The items I was most interested in were the beauty oils. These are cold pressed oils of selected fruits, nuts and seeds and are 100% oils that contain the active nutrients of each plant. I have been wanting to try using oils on my skin for a while but have never found any that is affordable and easily purchased.
And these are affordable! For oils that is.
There will be 3 beauty oils available – Rose Hip Oil (regenerates skin for dry and mature skin) RM137/50ml, Evening Primrose Oil (revitalizes and smooths skin for sensitive and delicate skin) RM103/50ml and Argan Oil (repairs and nourishes skin for all skin types) RM111/50ml. I hope some of the other ones will also be available as I don’t have the information for that. I’m interested in some of the less known ones like Nigella Oil or Avocado oil 🙂
You use these oils neat on the skin, and if you apply it on damp skin, it absorbs more quickly. Some, like the Rose Hip Oil takes longer to absorb and isn’t recommended for skin prone to acne. I have that one, so we’ll see how it fares.
The first Melvita store at KLCC will be open in September 2011 so look out for it if organic skincare is your thing, or if you want to check out beauty oils. I will report back once I’ve put some of these to the test to see how my skin likes or dislikes them 🙂
Have you heard of Melvita before this? Or perhaps you’ve already known about it and tried it? Share if you have – then we’ll know what to look out for 😀

I’ve heard good things about the Argan Oil… maybe I should grab it when I’m in KL. Thanks for the heads up, PB!
ParisB says
You’re welcome Lily 🙂 I’ve heard a lot of good things about Argan oil too and best of all, you can also use it on your hair 😀
Traclyn says
They are finally here! They share the same distributor of Clarins and L’occitane.

Ooooooh! This sounds interesting, I’ll be sure to check out this place when I drop by KLCC, and hopefully they’ll open in 1U soon as that’ll be nearer 😛 At least I now know a place that sells argan oil (I’m interested to give it a try), though I just got the Kiehl’s one (Which I am loving so far), but since the Kiehl’s one is more of an argan oil blend and the Melvita one is pure argan oil, we shall see 😀
ParisB says
The good thing about this Argan Oil is that you could use it on your hair too just like an argan oil hair treatment 🙂 I will be waiting for it to open too because I want to see the rest of the range 😀
Stephanie/Yukaeshi says
Yeap, I love how multi-purpose Argan Oil is 😀 Can’t wait for Melvita to open! Was at KLCC last week (8th September) but they’re still not open yet haha 😛

I’m looking forward to this range! Hope you can update us on their retail prices as well! 🙂
ParisB says
The oil prices are as in the post 🙂 The other products aren’t terribly pricey either but I’ll update them as I go along 🙂 Its nice to have an affordable organic skincare range to turn to.

I see Carrot oil~! Those prices are so affordable and look at the bottles, they are huge~! I’ve been wanting to try oils too and I’ll be sure to visit them when I get to KLCC. Thanx Paris 😀
ParisB says
I hope they carry the carrot oil in store 🙂 I am quite interested in the rest of the oils too and yes I initially thought that 50ml was a typo but it turned out to be correct.

I am wary of using face oils because I always am under the impression it will not sink into my skin. But I’ve used Melvita’s Rose Nectar Cream and their facial washes as it’s quite reasonable here (get them from Whole Foods Market) and it’s great to hear they’ve finally reached M’sian shores! =)
ParisB says
Ah I will have to check out your recs. I’m always up to trying something new as you will know LOL! And face oils are really nice, they are just like body oils. They absorb a lot faster than we think they will although some like the rosehip oil takes a while.

i’ve heard of Melvita – they were online in 2009 and available in LA last year!
ParisB says
Thanks for the heads up Tracy! Have you tried anything from the line?
