Speakest thou the language of love?
So asketh John Galliano in his newest fragrance – Parlez-moi d’Amour, launched recently.
Despite his fall from grace at the House of Dior recently, I cannot help but recall that it is L’enfant terrible John Galliano who galvanized the House of Dior, making the by now iconic Lady Dior and Cannage print truly signature Dior couture.
Parlez-moi d’Amour is a young fragrance, fronted by Taylor Momsen (I’m sorry I’m totally out of things but who is she?!) and the sweet floral scent is also targeted at the younger crowd. I happen to love the bottle. It is made to resemble an envelope with a “stamp” in the top right corner. The box it comes in looks just like an envelope in which a love letter would arrive, also with a stamp in the top right corner. And around the gold cap is engraved a sweet romantic message. It is a romantic fragrance to tell us to stop a while and enjoy the romance in this fast paced world of emails and texts. Letter writing is a dying art.
I love the whole look and feel of the fragrance bottle and the back story, but I do find the scent a little sweet and too floral for me. The scent I much much prefer is the John Galliano Eau de Toilette that comes in a gorgeous elegant bottle styled like a draped dress.
I love the look of this bottle (no it does not lean. My photo taking skills are non existent) and there is no cover. It smells of roses – a very lovely feminine scent that is light on the skin and does not feel too heavy on the nose. It deepens to a more woody musky scent I happen to like. It is however, quite clearly an adult fragrance. It would be too heavy for a young girl but it suits the sexy, mysterious woman draped in her finest, striding with confidence through the corridors of power 😉
I will be checking the Edt out at duty free the next time I pass through. It is something I would like to have because y’know I’m sexy and mysterious and stride with confidence through the corridors of power… 😉
Fragrances are something very individual and personal so my suggestion is to go out there and smell them for yourself because a fragrance defines who you are. And you can’t rely on a website to tell you anything – not until the day that they invent something to allow you to smell the fragrance through your computer screen. But you can still feast your eyes on the lovely packaging, can’t you? 🙂

Les macarons!
I love the name of the perfume at least 🙂 “speak love to me” something like that…gah, my translation sucks :/
Shame that he fell out, I like him (as much as I like Uncle Karl) and despite his incident, he in a way single handedly shaped Dior since he joined LVMH 🙁

I love the name too! If I can’t depend on you to translate French then who?! 😀 I do like the edgy Dior he made them out to be. I ‘m waiting to see what happens now.

Hmmm, I don’t really put perfume on a daily basis, and my Red Delicious is glaring at me right now. Maybe it’s time to make it into a habit?
ParisB says
I don’t either. I’m planning to have a shelf built in in future so I see my perfumes and will therefore use them. Now they are just tucked away in a cupboard

oh dear i love love the unique shape of bottle!
p/s: if i ever stay on my own next time, im gonna have a glass cabinet displaying only my perfumes 🙂

The bottle does catch my eye but it’s those macaroons in the background that’s making me drool! Like Hanny, I have perfumes sitting on my shelf but I am too *lazy* for my own good +__+

I don’t wear perfumes a lot too. Most of the time, I just forget 😛 I’m not much of a macaroons fan but I’ll happily pop a few of those from Laduree! 😀

I love the packaging Parlez-moi d’Amour, it’s gorgeous and unique. The scent doesn’t sound like my kind of thing at all though… I’m not into sweet floral scents… but the second one sounds wonderful and the bottle is pretty too.

I’m not into sweet floral scents either but if I were a perfume bottle collector, I’d pick these up anyway 😀

Hey, I love love love Galliano and I truly hope he will get back on track.. If u care to see hoe the House of Dior is faring now, it recently opened for its Fall couture collection, and It took inspirations from clowns.. Litreally, but it was done is a gaudy and grish way, not like Galliano would have done. He makes even this simplest thing seem oo desirable!!! Omg, I sooo miss his designs! And do check out Kate Moss’s wedding dress, he designed that slip of a thing, very different from the other Kate.. hehe, oh, yeah, actually I wanted to ask you where can I get his perfumes? I mean is it available at Pavilion or Klcc? Parkson? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.. Hehehe, sorry for the long rant about Galliano, but he is truly very talented, right up there wit Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexander McQueen…
