Have you tried Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells mascara, Ombre Absolue Eyeshadow and that UV Expert Bright Eyes BB Base?

July 19, 2011 Paris B 22 Comments

I ask this question in the title, because I haven’t and I wanted to get your input! 😀

Last year, we were introduced to Julia Roberts as the face of Lancome, and the Virtuose Precious Cells mascara. At the time, I was told that in Asia, they were only bringing in Virtuose Precious Cells. Hypnose was only sold in the Western world as the drama and volume attached to the Hypnose mascara did not do well in Asia, as Asians preferred something for lengthening and curling the lashes, I was told.

Fast forward a year later and ta-da! Here we are – Hypnose Precious Cells mascara! So we Asians can have dramatic lashes with volume too! 😀 I haven’t tried it yet – I had mascara on my lashes already and I didn’t really need the extra drama. But there’s a reason why there is a photo behind the tube of mascara – a makeover and instant photo promo at Pavilion KL 🙂 I also checked out a couple of Lancome products I’d like to hear your thoughts on, if you have tried them, cos I haven’t.

If you’d like to take a gander at the Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells mascara and perhaps get yourself a free eye makeup makeover or if you are just in the area of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on July 18-24, 2011 and at a loose end, head down to the Concourse where you can check out the Lancome Loves Colors promotion area.

lancome pavilion promo

You can take a look at the new adorable Yayoi Kusama Juicy Tubes which are limited edition. Super cute packaging and a collector’s item in Japan, I’m told. There are also 2 new limited edition Ombre Absolue eyeshadow palettes (RM140) for summer – a soft pink and grey and a brown that are both extremely wearable. There is even a liner included, and a highlighter. I don’t own any of these palettes yet, but they have been out since last year. There are about 6 permanent colours and these 2 new limited edition ones. I got a quick touch up with the green palette… but you can’t quite see it can you? 😛

Anyway, the first 40 people in a day to head down to Pavilion KL Concourse will get a free quick makeover and an instant photo. Once they have filled the quota, the free makeover will be available with every purchase of RM250 of Lancome products or RM300 of Jaspal clothing. Purchase RM500 worth of Lancome products and get a free starter kit, RM50 Jaspal voucher and a free makeover.

Oh and there’s one more product that caught my eye… as it were.

lancome UV expert bright eyes

The Lancome UV Expert Bright Eyes Protecting & Illuminating BB Base with SPF50 PA+++ A BB base for the eye area? I haven’t tried this one but I swiped the tester on the back of my hand and it looks most intriguing. I wonder how this measures up to the Estee Lauder Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator that I’m planning to take on a spin soon. They both seem to boast illuminating effects for the under eye area – a subject dear to my heart as yesterday’s post on the Dior Skinflash will attest to 🙂

So you know what to do if you are around Pavilion KL from July 18-24, 2011. But more importantly, if you have tried the Hypnose Precious Cells, Ombre Absolue eyeshadow palettes or the UV Expert Bright Eyes BB Base, holler in the comments! I want to know what you thought of them! 😀

Paris B

Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara retails at RM95, Ombre Absolue Eyeshadow palettes retail at RM140 each and the UV Expert Bright Eyes BB Base for the eye retails at RM125/15ml

I never tried anything lancome besides the bi facil eye makeup remover. To be honest, the lancome makeup is kinda boring to me. Only the lancome genefique is somewhat interesting. Which I will try someday.

I have the lancome bb base for eyes. Bought it recently due to the SPF. Sunscreen for face sometimes sting my eyes.

It is actually quite oily. I think. So much so that it makes my waterproof mascara smudge. Well, I wear waterproof mascara for abt 12 to 14 hrs. But smudging never happened to me b4.

And on my end, I’ve never tried the bi-facil eye makeup remover despite the raves! :O I think Lancome makeup is less exciting and catered more to people who prefer something a little more subtle. I own a couple of their older eyeshadow palettes which are great but as you pointed out, not terribly exciting 🙂 thanks for sharing your thoughts on the BB base for the eyes. I contemplated trying it, but now that you mention it will make mascara smudge, that’s a bit of a bummer. Still, the idea of SPF50 for the eye area does seem awfully tempting – a note that I’m not taking enough care of my eye area! 😛

Yes, that’s right. I shall try it with another brand of mascara in time to come. But I’m already using majolica Majorca. Can’t think of a tougher brand.

You’re right about that really. If MM smudges, I think nothing else will have any hope 😛

Well, not every brand is for everyone 🙂 I liked some of the eyeshadow palettes from before, but now they have reformulated, I haven’t gone to check them out.

I tried Hypnose, but I still prefer Diorshow for volume. I also recently bought 2 of Lancome’s permanent line eyequad and thought the colours are sweet and great for day time, its colour payoff is still quite lacking. I had to make an effort to pack on the colour to see some intensity. Also, the shadow sizes were really small for RM140. I think I’d prefer MAC or Urban Decay to this, any time.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lily 🙂 Did you try these 5 colour palettes or the 4 colour ones? I got a little confused when I was there 😛 I do find the textures a little hit or miss. They used to be great – Ombre Absolue singles and the round quads – but I’ve not tried them since they put them into palettes. The new palettes are very reminiscent of Japanese style makeup so I do expect that level of sheerness in colour and sparkle. I did enjoy the palettes with the round shadows – quality and colour payoff was amazing!

Hey Paris, I have the eyequads, the little square colours. And Yes! They do remind me of Japanese style eyeshadows, hence explaining the sheerness and shimmers. Very nice for day makeup. Oh, I use MAC’s paint pots in darker shades as base when I want the colours to look more dramatic 😉

I had a Virtuouse PC when it came out, I thought the lengthening and curling were good, and without major fallouts.
Then I went back to London and got two Hypnose PC for £26 or £30, either way it works out 75 MYR or less for one, so I plunged.
I prefer the volume on Hynopse PC even though it doesn’t curl that much. I use an eyelash curler anyway before I put mascara.
Overall, I wouldn’t be repurchasing Virtuose PC again but maybe Hypnose if it’s on sales 🙂 All I want is just Bambi like lashes 😀
P/S: Lancome mascaras are always in the play, me think.

I wasn’t terribly sold on Virtuose’s curling properties. I always have to curl my lashes, no matter what the mascara says. My lashes are too stubborn! But its good to know you liked Hypnose – Let’s hope I do too 🙂

    you look awesome lah.

i won’t bother on the mascara cos they would always stain on my undereye after awhile and they are so so tough to remove. got no patience to remove the way we were taught by the Estee Lauder experts 😉

wanna ask you about the EL eye thingy. saw it launched recently and have always have good experience with EL’s eye products. i’ve used lancome long time before… their eye creams never really worked.

I do like Lancome but finds it not worth the price paying for. I rather spent on Chanel or Dior for this amount. If they are willing to mark down the price by a small fraction, i would mind spending on those eye palattes.

The only eye palette I might have been tempted by was the grey-black one. The green was a bit insipid. But I’m waiting and seeing for now since the colour I want is permanent 🙂

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
