Were I to get married, it would be in an Elie Saab gown. This Lebanese designer may not be very well known locally, but I’ve been eyeing his gorgeous floaty dresses on the runways for a while now. They are light and floaty and very very feminine.
Yes, this Lebanese haute couture designer is a HE. Confession: I always thought Elie Saab was a SHE. I know, I know… I should pay more attention 😛
Ah there he is – and a bit of a looker too! 😛
But I’m not really here to tell you about Elie Saab the designer to the stars and runway couture (his wedding dresses are gorgeous confections! Look them up!) I’m really here to tell you about the Elie Saab Le Parfum. Because if I can’t get myself an Elie Saab wedding gown, I’ll have the perfume by Jove!
This is Elie Saab’s first fragrance, simply titled Le Parfum, housed in a solid cut glass bottle that reflects light and with the straight lines and design Elie Saab wanted. I honestly expected something a little more fluid in design considering the lightness of his dresses, but this was what the man wanted and for a perfume that carries his name, its what he got.
Elie Saab Le Parfum
Its a solid little thing. The scent is, I found, rather strong. The key notes I’m told are orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli and cedar. Its quite floral and I found the jasmine scent quite noticeable. It is quite a nice blend though. None of it overpowering the other, but it is quite a strong floral scent which dries down to something a little woody that lasts a while, so I suggest you spray it sparingly.
Elie Saab Le Parfum – 30ml, 50ml, 90ml
The fragrance comes in 3 sizes but I have to tell you that my favourite size is the 30ml bottle. It is so delicate and adorable! I love how it looks sitting on the dresser. Its super cute. If you plan to get one, get the 30ml one and for once, don’t think about value and price per ml and all those things that make sense because you too will fall in love with the adorable 30ml bottle!
If you find the perfume too strong, take a look at the body lotion. It’s the scent but a touch lighter on the nose and feels absolutely lovely. If you love the scent then you may also like the complementary bath and body products. I find that its cheaper to indulge in shower creams in a scent I like because a good one will last a while on the skin. Or if its a light scent, layering always helps the scent last longer.
Now, have you paid attention to Elie Saab? Did you go and look up his gorgeous dresses? Ah…aren’t they a dream? 🙂

While most would run to Vera Wang, my wedding dress would be (if cost wasn’t an issue!) an Elie Saab too! He makes the loveliest, most feminine creations without being too ostentatious.
Sad about the jasmine scent being noticeable in the perfume because I rather dislike it.

We can all dream yes? And then we’ll just run out and get a lookalike LOL! 😉 But yes I used to be Vera Wang too but now its Elie Saab all the way! I think this is a scent that has to be sniffed to be sure about. I’m not too crazy about it in the perfume but I think its absolutely lovely in the body lotion 🙂

I LOVE ELIE SAAB~ He was the one who designed Halle Berry’s red dress with the flowers when she won the Oscars in 2002~ ^.^
Also, almost every awards season dress that rings well with the crowd is also one of his works, heh heh heh. I’m in love. With the dresses, I mean.

Oh yeah now that you mention Halle Berry – that was quite a masterpiece!

Super love Elie Saab’s dress creations! So utterly gorgeous and feminine! 🙂 And I’m with you on the getting married in an Elie Saab gown… sheer bliss!
Pity the perfume doesn’t sound like the type of scent I’d like… but the bottle is fab! 🙂

I was a little disappointed with the perfume but considering Elie Saab is Lebanese, the scent makes sense 😉 And his dresses! Amazing man!

Love the dresses! Don’t you find it hard to review a perfume? The packaging looks lovely though… and you’re right. He’s a looker 😉

Yes perfume isn’t my forte – I can just about tell you what I like and what I don’t and besides, fragrances are very very individual. So I prefer to just talk about the fragrance and let you decide for yourself 🙂
