Day 25 of 30 : Etude House Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips Sweetberry Blossom No. 2

July 15, 2011 Paris B 14 Comments

So opinions are divided as to whether I can or cannot wear nude lips. I personally lean towards not quite pulling off the nude lip look, because I do prefer my colours 🙂 Even if I were to wear a sheer lip, I’d still go for something with a hint of pink or rose in it. Today’s lip feature is a coral coloured lip and a purchase made on a whim.

I don’t usually pay much attention to Etude House – all that pink in the store makes me feel a little ill. However, when I was in Korea, I had to stop in and after battling the crowds (honestly! Was everything in there free??) I came out feeling a little dazed and holding a Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips lipstick in No. 2 – Sweetberry Blossom.

Oh hello, clicky pen!

The packaging reminds me of a budget Dior Serum de Rouge – its got that same feel to it but the similarity stops right there. It feels insubstantial and a little like a toy. Looks a little like one too.

Be careful when twisting it up. Do not exceed 2 twists or you’d be left wondering how to get it back down. I dislike that very much. I twisted it up for the photo and then couldn’t get it back down to apply to my lips. So my lipstick now looks like a mess. Bah.

Still, I cannot fault the colour, which I particularly liked for brightening up the face. I got this in No. 2 Sweetberry Blossom which is described as a red-pink. I personally call this coral because its more like a orange-pink to me.

See what I mean? Its orange. Not as orange as some of the other colours, but an orange nonetheless. That is just 1 layer – good colour and smooth texture with a scent of oranges. The last is a little odd.

Also featuring: Sleek Makeup Curacao eyeshadow palette (Tequila Sunrise + Espresso Martini), Sleek Makeup Aruba blush with Benefit Bella Bamba layered over, Shiseido Perfecting foundation

Odd scents aside, I love this colour for the lips. Bright yet not overwhelming, orange yet not orange. Opaque colour yet light on the lips. If you have dry lips, I suggest you layer on a balm first because the texture can accentuate flakies. It however does not dry out the lips further, which is of course, wonderful. It lasts long enough for me to head to lunch and is by all counts a winner.

In a nutshell

Try these if you are afraid of strong coloured lips or aren’t sure if you can wear orange or coral lipstick. The sheer texture can be layered for opacity and the colour brightens up a variety of complexions. The clicky pen mechanism can do with some work as it does not twist back down.

Pros: Lovely colour, Light texture, Affordable, Portable

Cons: Can accentuate flaky lips, Orange scent is a little unusual

I got mine in Korea but I do know we get this here too. I’m not sure if we get this colour though so if you do know, please update in the comments k?

If you have tried this one, do share what you think 🙂 Is orange lips for you? And do you like the nutshell summary? I realise I tend to ramble on so if its helpful, I’ll try to include a nutshell summary in future reviews 🙂

Etude House Miss Tangerine Sweet Shower Lips retails at 8,500 Won in Korea and possibly about RM35 at local Etude House stores (to be confirmed if anyone knows).

    OOOO. Looks lovely on you!

I have a lipstick that is a bright orange, heh heh heh. I’ve always dabbed it on. You may have heard of it, it’s Kiss Me Coral from the Revlon Superlustrous line. ^.^

Thanks Hanny – not terribly familiar with that color but if you can pull it off, that’s excellent – I know I can’t 😉

Since I do have flaky lips, I don’t think that one is for me. Too bad, since it’s so inexpensive…. I’d better stick to Dior’s Serum de Rouge in Coral – it goes well enough with heavier eye makeup. 😉

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜

It’s my first year doing retail and honestly, I’d never been so busy! The year-end rush is unreal! But busy is good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself 😂

Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
