Your Say: What is your deal-breaker?

June 7, 2011 Paris B 66 Comments

chewing with mouth open

I’m sure we’ve all been there.

We meet someone lovely, and pleasing to the eye… and we want to get to know them more… and then something he/she does irks you. Something you just cannot stand.

The deal-breaker. The one thing that turns you right off. What’s yours?

My big peeve is sitting across from someone chewing with their mouth open. And chewing noisily.

I love my food so its no surprise that my deal breaker centers around the dining table haha! But seriously, I find it very hard to sit across someone who is chewing with their mouth open. Its off putting to me on a personal level, and also kills my appetite to see half masticated food being processed *shudder*

To be fair, some people don’t realize its a problem, or how it might irk others dining with them. If its someone I know well enough, I do tell them to please chew with their mouth closed. But if there are no sparks on a date to start with, this is one thing that will definitely turn me off and send me running in the opposite direction.

What about you? What’s your deal breaker?

    Wow~! Hmmm I have a lot. I can’t stand a lot…
    1. Chewing with mouth open and making noises. Talk with mouthful omg…
    2. Seeing man in nice shirt and slack, sitting while dining or having a tea time, but shakes their legs. OMG I seriously hate seeing that. What’s worse is seeing a girl doing that.
    3. I hate smokers, though my dad and bf smokes and most of my guy and girl friends. I hate them more especially those who smokes and doesn’t respect non-smokers at all!
    4. I have this thing with manners, table manners, talking manners, what ever manners. It drives me nuts~!
    5. Waiters and waitresses who just doesn’t show manners, the way they treat u as if they don’t want to work.
    6. Customer services and tele-customer services who don’t give the good service especially.

    Ok I think I’m an alien… haha 😛

    i hate
    1. People who assume things abt you when they dont really know you and try to give you all these self righteous sounding advice, e.g. u complain abt your workload and they say “eh, u know, you should be grateful for your work, so many graduates nowadays not able to get jobs, anyway we shouldnt complain abt things…..blahblahblah”

    2. Chauvinists
Basically anyone who steroetypes what girls/guys should do -like i’m a girl and i play pool, DoTA and guy games quite well, and guys are always telling me stuff like “oh, u SURE u wanna play wif me? or “wow, u play well for a girl”. like, who the heck said that these are limited to guys only? or like, for example, i dont know nuts abt using makeup, and they will tell me if they see those makeup/perfume promotions going on “hey whats that? a new makeup/perfume” and i say i dont know, and they say “huh, but you’re a girl what.”

    ARGH!!

Ah same here. We all have different interests. I can’t tell celebrities apart… and I don’t read women magazines. So anyone who assumes that quickly gets the boot!

lol I’m sure they’ve already been covered time and again above, but here are my top peeves:

    – BO. some could gag a maggot…’nuff said.
    – ppl who ‘spit’ when they talk. say it, don’t spray it!
    – lack of personal hygiene and grooming. you don’t have to look like the cover of GQ, but bad breath, greasy hair and nose hair are unacceptable! >.<

    My pet peeves:
1: People chewing with their mouths open.
2: Bad breath / Body odor [use deodorants]
    3: Late-comers.
4: People who are not interested in listening in depth on what you have to say, yet they ask you questions. Repeating myself 5 times to the same person is really unreasonable.
5: Nasty customers. I used to work in the service line, and I faced tons of nasty customers even though you treat them like royalty.
6: People who say “girls can’t do this/that”. I’m a welder, and I can weld better than some guys but I get many comments from “friends” and relatives that I shouldn’t do welding.

Once I got my results that i passed, my “friend” asked:”So you’re really going to get a welding position? Why not a supervisor position?” She even tried getting me to consider other jobs [which I’ve already told her I’ve tried before in the past]. I have told her hundreds of times that I love to weld and this is something I enjoy. [if someone is not interested in listening to me I’d rather they don’t talk to me at all]

LOL! I know what you mean about the chewing.
I knew someone who chewed so LOUD for such a silly excuse, knowing people are annoyed and disgusted but keeps doing it & would purposely eat right behind my ear while I’m trying to eat or watch TV!
Now, no one wants to come near that person! (well there are even more severe reasons for that happening).

There are a ton of things that would turn me off like bad breath, BO, gel-filled hair, Metro-sexuality, Etc. But I can still tolerate that stuff cause it can be fixed and it doesn’t necessarily define who they are on the inside. If they’re really nice & good people I would overlook it.

What really makes me turn away is rude excessive sarcasm, & a superficial mentality. That, I can barely tolerate.

Oh, and guys who like to bully small animals to make themselves feel powerful. And Ignorant people who refuse factual info as well. And the list goes on…

Other people have already said it, but for me it’s smoking. I could never date someone that smokes because I hate it and I’m allergic to it.
