Previewing Essence Cosmetics : Budget Makeup That Does Not Break Your Bank

June 17, 2011 Paris B 31 Comments

I’ve been very curious about Essence Cosmetics for a long while now. Gio raves about it and its really affordable in Europe from where it hails. So when I noticed the brand logo at a kiosk locally, I pounced and picked up 3 items.

essence cosmetics

You will be happy to know that these are also relatively affordable locally, although not at the crazily low prices of €2.99 and the like seen in Europe and the USA. Still, I’m not really complaining when these 3 items cost just slightly over RM40. RM40.70 to be exact! You get a whole face for under RM50! 😀 A couple of product pictures are below for your viewing pleasure.

essence silky touch blush

Since I’m so into blushes, naturally one purchase involved a blush – Silky Touch Blush in Secret It Girl. A lovely peach blush. I’ve worn it for a day or two and its not too bad for the price. It was RM12.90 😛 Can’t complain eh?

essence metallics eyeshadow

For some reason, I’m into neutral eyeshadows lately, so this Essence Metallics eyeshadow palette stood out. I actually really liked the taupe shades in there. This palette was RM17.90 and swatched quite prettily.

essence stay with me longlasting lipgloss

And finally, an Essence Stay With Me Longlasting lipgloss – RM9.90 in a bright fuchsia shade. Yeah, me and my bright lips 😛 Its quite thick and there is a bit of sweet scent so I’m getting to grips with it before I tell you more.

Honestly, at those prices, I’m not really complaining, are you? 😀

I’ll have reviews come up soon. I know you are all just DYING to find out if a low pricetag means crappy quality yes? Based on online reviews, Essence has got wonderful reviews. Their nail polishes in particular get a lot of raves but I’m not into nails so you’d have to try that out yourself.

You’ll have to come back for my thoughts on these soon. I’m giving them a go as we speak! Have you tried anything from this brand? Do share if you have!

Paris B

I purchased my Essence Cosmetics from a store called Coci Coci along the sidewalk of Jalan Bukit Bintang, in front of Wisma Peladang, next to Lot 10. Its a stand alone kiosk. You can learn about the brand here.

I was clueless what to get when I was in CociCoci. The blush definitely look decent! I would love to scout for some items there 🙂

I was clueless too. I got these the second time round. The first time was just too overwhelming 😛

Hey Paris, did you see if Coci Coci carried any of the Essence nail polishes? If yes, can you recall how much they were? I’d be grateful for the info! 🙂

I came to know about Coci Coci during IBE 2011 and I bought erm… quite a lot of items. The baked eyeshadows are really pigmented and for around RM10 or less, they’re great! Even I’m in love with their skincare products that I recommended to 2 other friends and they adore the products now!

Haha! I saw they had some interesting skincare there at Coci Coci. I’ve come across Albion before online so when I saw it there I was intrigued. However, I’m on a bit of a skincare diet so I’m holding back for now. Was quite impressed with the Essence products. Affordable and decent looking, most of them.

Its cheap definitely! Lots of good vibes coming out about it from Europe and the USA so I’m very happy we have it here too. Perhaps you could just keep this in mind were you to drop by Bukit Bintang again … Sephora? 😉

I know! I was surprised too! I’ve read so many good things about their nail polishes but its not something I use but the lipgloss I got isn’t too bad.

Can’t wait for your reviews! I like Essence cosmetics, they make some lovely products and you can’t beat the price. I love their blushes, they are very wearable and good value for money. The Stay with me glosses have great color payoff, which I love, but unfortunately they don’t last that long.

I didn’t remember seeing many blush colours here but I remembered you reviewed Secret It Girl so I got it haha! The gloss lasts quite long on me actually. I was surprised.

Ah, Essence… I’m from Germany, but I rarely pay any attention to them. They do lack quality a bit, although the latest brand revamps added something in that regard (that is what German beauty bloggers say, anyway.)
The gloss you bought is quite popular, I think.

I’ve read that the eyeshadows are quite unpigmented so I steered clear of the singles. I wish I could read German blogs so I know which to go for LOL!

    Hi there 🙂

I would like to know where did you purchase these Essence products??
I have been hunting high and low in Guardian/Watsons. They don’t carry it :/
And I follow your reviews, it helps a lot! 🙂

Hi Sarah. The location is at the end of the post. I got this at a little kiosk along Jalan Bukit Bintang. It’s not sold in the usual pharmacies

Ooooo I just bought their blush from their new kiosk at Mid Valley. Was kinda surprised (and happy) when I saw that they opened a kiosk in Mid Valley (oh the convenience!). Didn’t have much cash with me (not pay day yet 🙁 !! ) so I’m only testing the blush for now. Didn’t remember which lip gloss color you reviewed (really like that shade) so I’m saving it for next time I go there ;P ..was tempted to get the eyeshadow but I already have somewhat similar colors. Maybe if I really like the blush then I’ll think about the eyeshadow (then again one product’s good performance would not warrant another product’s good performance)…we’ll see!

Now they sell Essence cosmetics in Watsons stores! I’ve seen the stand along the walls but they don’t carry as many products from Europe. The Essence stand in Watsons is so sad and lonely. But I love their products, sooo good!! So Cheap!!
