I’ve been receiving quite a few emails about eye creams and what I use or recommend. I looked back at my posts and realized that:-
- I don’t talk about eye creams
- I don’t use many eye creams
- I haven’t told you about the one eye cream I use nearly all the time
Its time to remedy that.
I still don’t use eye cream a lot. I don’t have chronic dark circles (mine go away if I have enough rest) and I am lucky that crows feet or lines around the eyes aren’t existent or if they exist, aren’t prominent. I guess I’m lucky to be made that way 😛 But over the years, I’ve only really ever found one eye cream that I liked enough to repurchase, and which I thought worked well enough for me.
Its the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex Serum. A mouthful of a product name, that I have used for quite a few years.
It comes in this small squat tub with a spatula applicator. Heaven knows where mine is. I lose it all the time. If you buy a new one, at the end of the included spatula is a ball that you dip into the serum, smooth between the 4th or ring fingers of both hands and apply to your eye area. (You can just about see the spatula I mention in this picture which is when I first bought this eye cream)
The amount you get from dipping the ball into the serum is enough. So, pricey as it is, this one 15ml tub can last me at least 6-8 months. Ah yep! 😀 One little splurge a year won’t kill me and I tend to make sure I collect my department store card points and take advantage of GWPs etc etc etc so its all good.
I like that its very light in texture so it absorbs very quickly and leaves my eye area feeling hydrated and velvety and a little cool. It also isn’t oily, unlike some eye creams and it does not result in the formation of any milia or oil seeds around my eye area. There is a slight scent that I find soothing.
As for its effects, I’m not sure really. I don’t have chronic dark circles nor serious crows feet. I do have some fine lines under my eyes and I personally believe that regular use of this one is helping them stay fine. Can’t stop the march of time, but I can slow the beat down down 😛
This is about the only eye cream I’ve repurchased and use diligently (because its so light) and I know it does not work for every one. But it does for me. So yeah. If you are looking for my recommendation for an eye cream, this is it. I have no other.
Pros: Lightweight serum texture, Absorbs quickly, Skin feels hydrated after application
Cons: Pricey as an initial purchase
Oh and since this is an Advanced Night Repair Eye cream, I only use it at night. I don’t know what will happen if you use it in the day. You could vapourize like a vampire…. or more likely, nothing will happen. But I follow instructions so night means night. Besides, its probably a good thing for this to work at night when I’m asleep anyway 🙂
Do you like this one too? Or perhaps you don’t believe in paying so much for an eye cream? Or perhaps you just don’t like it at all?

The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex Serum retails at RM190/15ml at all Estee Lauder counters.
Just to let you know, I’ve bought this ANR eye cream ever since Sze Ling asked me to go get it! Ha ha… I don’t have chronic dark eye circles too so I guess this is for maintenance. Just to share, my beautician told me that if dark eye circles left unattended to with continuation of late nights, it’ll spread. *horror*
Erm… I seriously doubt dark circles can “spread” but sometimes, its nothing to do with a cream. Could be lifestyle or even just aging. Sadly enough 😛
Since I have discovered your blog on Monday, I have spent hours reading it in office. Hahahaha. But it is really the most comprehensive beauty blog that I have ever come across. Thanks Paris for taking so much time to blog about beauty products. I have learned so much on what are the best products out there by just reading your blog. I have been having dark eye circles for something like 15 years. Yikes! LOL. I have tried all sort of eye cream from cheap to expensive but none has really work for me. I am using Iskin products right now and although the eye cream has help to lighten the darkness around my eye area, it is still there. It usually gets worse if I do not get enough sleep. Sigh. I guess I just have to try to get a more restful sleep often.
Thank you Victoria! 🙂 I’ve been told that dark circles are also hereditary and are sometimes also health and age related. Apparently, it gets more pronounced as we age due to the loss of collagen in the eye area. Not sure how true it is, so the best solution is probably to get lots of sleep, lots of water, keep it moisturised… and get a good concealer 😉
Hi! I’ve read your post YEARS ago just wondering if you still use it? Does it give you any bit of milia over time? ( I suffer from milia, it’s genetics ?)
Hi! I no longer use this (mostly because I’m really lazy about eye cream so it lasts me a long time, and I try different ones) but when I did use it, it didn’t give me milia. I’m now using this one from Shiseido which is very nice, and doesn’t give me milia either, but is pretty costly!
