Day 22 of 30: RMK Lip Crayon 01 Pink

June 28, 2011 Paris B 13 Comments

I’m really plodding through this series aren’t I? Hope you’ve found something to like thus far 🙂

rmk lip crayon pink

The RMK Lip Crayon is new in the RMK Sping/Summer collection 2011 and I believe its permanent to the collection. What it is, is your typical twist up crayon lip colour that does not need sharpening. Its a very lovely slim package that easily slips into pockets, pochettes, clutches, tiny little dangly bags that don’t fit anything more than your ID and cash… you get the drift.

Packaging wise, its a winner by a mile and a half. What about colour then?

Being handed with a colour like 01 Pink made my brow crease. I’m all about bold statement lips. RMK is about natural understated makeup – like most Japanese makeup. So I put it aside for a while and only took it out again so include it in this series, because I think it deserves mention.

The colour is a rather unassuming pink in the tube. It however, applies a light sheer pink that gives just a tint of colour to the lips. Due to its shape, its a lip liner and lip colour in one. Excellent size for precise lining and shaping and to colour in the lip.

On the back of my hand, 01 Pink is a light pink that surprisingly, does show up. The true test however, is whether it’d show up on my pigmented lips.

Also featuring: Dior Rosy Nude eyeshadow, Burberry Light Glow Misty Blush 08

I think we can safely say it does 🙂 The lip crayon applies smoothly without tugging and offers quite an opaque coverage of colour. I find it applies a little matte – not glowy as some claim but its not flat – just not glowy. 01 Pink gives a natural tint to the lips. The other deeper colours will, I expect, offer better colour pay off with a similar smooth glide on texture.

Pros: Smooth texture glides on lips easily, Does not settle into lines, No shimmer, No scent, Pen mechanism twists up and down smoothly

Cons: Pricey

For some reason, with a colour like this, I like to go for a very neutral simple sort of look. Neutral eyes and cheeks help give a brighter countenance. I’m also learning that I can wear pink lips quite easily – I probably never found the right one before. If you apply a beige-gold shimmer gloss over this lipstick, it takes on a gorgeous nude-pink look that is beautiful. Toru-san, RMK Makeup Artist surprised me with that look and I’ve been digging around in my stash trying to find a shade of gloss I can use for that (but not finding any).

Is this a sort of colour you’d go for? Or perhaps you have tried the RMK Lip Crayons and would like to share your thoughts on them (and what colours you think I might like?)

RMK Lip Crayons retail at RM80 and come in 6 shades at all RMK counters

Ooo… packaging reminds me of Clinique’s Chubby Stick… which one is easier to apply, in your opinion? 😛

Its a lot slimmer and swankier looking. Clinique’s applies more like a lipbalm (and is chubbier) while this one applies more opaque. Both are easy to apply, just depends on which sort of formula you prefer 🙂 I prefer these because I didn’t like the Chubby Sticks much 😛

I have a question about them lip crayons, are they lip pencils or lipstick in stick form?

This is the latter – lipstick in a pen-stick form. Others like the Clinique Chubby Sticks are lipbalm-lipsticks.
