Day 8 of 30 : L’Oreal Glam Shine 6H Strawberry Mix lipgloss

May 12, 2011 Paris B 8 Comments

I used to really like this colour from L’Oreal Glam Shine glosses called Cherry Shine or something 😛 It came in a short tube and I loved the shine and how the colour was quite pigmented despite being a lipgloss. Did I mention the shine? It sparkled! I actually had a backup and used it up, but before the end, I neglected it, and all the sparkles sank to the bottom of the tube.  Had to toss it eventually.

Which brings me to L’Oreal’s newest incarnation of the Glam Shine lipglosses. This time, they promise you 6 Hours of colour and shine. 6 Hours! Most lipsticks can barely last 4 much less 6 hours for a gloss! Bears testing doesn’t it? 🙂 This colour is Strawberry Mix which looks to be a lovely pink in the tube. I must say that a few things are true – its very glossy and its very shiny… and its also pretty pigmented! Check it out.

Here is the swatch on the back of my hand. The pigment surprised me!

Look closely. See the little bits of shimmer? Its quite fine and not too glittery. Also, the formula of this gloss is really quite shiny and pigmented. Another good thing is that it isn’t sticky. Well, not very anyway. I will not say that its lightweight. You will definitely notice that you have lipgloss on. However, when you press your lips together, they don’t get stuck.

The applicator bears mention. Remember the Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance I showed you before? Its got the same heart-shaped applicator. I believe L’Oreal was already using this applicator in their old Glam Shine lipgloss formula, so they came first. This shape does make it very easy to apply the gloss without going out of line, and it does hold colour better so you don’t have to keep dipping into the tube for colour.

I love this colour – Strawberry Mix. Its a very pretty rosy pink shade and what you’re seeing was applied with just 1 layer. Layer it a little more and you get more intense colour. There is a scent but its a little lighter now, and less cloyingly sweet as before. It also gives a very lovely lip-plumping effect and I think this colour is very brightening to the complexion!

As for lasting powers, did it last me 6 hours? No it did not. It lasts me longer than a regular lipgloss does. It took me through to lunch (about 4 hours) after coffee and water, but although there’s colour, it had noticeably faded by then with mostly sparkles remaining. Still, I suppose that is a little longer than most lipglosses. 6 Hours is possible provided you do not talk, drink or eat at all. And really, who would take it that far?

Pros: Not sticky, Nice shine, Pigmented colour, Non glittery shimmer, Quite long lasting for a gloss

Cons: Did not last the promised 6 hours, Sweetish scent that did dissipate

Do you like shiny glosses? I do! When I wear gloss, I prefer it to be shiny because to me, glosses are meant to be that way. I also like my glosses pigmented because I wear them alone and not over lipstick (I don’t like the heavy feeling that gives me).  There are supposed to be 6 other shades in this line – I’m not sure what they are, but I’m happy with this one. Might you like this one too? 🙂

L’Oreal Glam Shine 6 Hours lipgloss retails at RM35.90 at all L’Oreal counters. I’d wait for a sale or promotion to pick them up for better value.

    Eh!!! Pretty!!! ^.^

But it looks like my Revlon Colorburst Strawberry, perhaps it’ll look differently on my skintone?

Yup. It does resemble the Revlon Colorburst Strawberry lipgloss! Just doesn’t smell as cloying
