LeSportsac Artists in Residence : Joyrich and Jeremyville and some thoughts on them

April 24, 2011 Paris B 17 Comments

Remember a couple of weeks back, I told you why I like LeSportsac bags and showed you my little collection? They are all from the regular line, not from the special collections (because I usually can’t afford those from the special collections 😛 ) The most famous (and popular) Artist in Residence line was the Tokidoki collection. It didn’t quite do it for me, but I know lots of people who went bonkers over it. Stella McCartney did something with LeSportsac too some years back. There was a bunny involved… seems to be a recurring theme 😛

This year, LeSportsac has 2 Artists in Residence – Jeremyville and Joyrich. The Jeremyville collection is the more cartoony range. Case in point – Magic Bunny. Yes those are real floppy ears that flop over your bag. And yes, that’s a bunny face complete with glint in its eye.

Joyrich on the other hand, has an edgier feel to their designs that come in shiny patent finish, complete with chain link straps and quilted material – remind you of anything? 😉

The one bag in the Joyrich collection that had everyone squealing was the heart pouch, which can be worn cross body and is really quite cute if you can pull it off. No one would even know its a LeSportsac till they see the label of course. I thought the plain black quilted one was really cute.

Unfortunately its not quite me, and I’m not quite sassy enough to pull it off. Doubt I could even fit my wallet in there – I’m the practical sort 😛

Some Joyrich bags come with a keepsake keychain medallion charm that you can remove or hang on your bag as you wish.

I don’t know. To be honest, none of the Spring 2011 designs called to me nor did any of the Artist in Residence designs. I enjoyed the show, I enjoyed seeing the collections and there might have been one or two items that had me taking a second look. But on the whole, I couldn’t remember most of the new designs. I guess I just don’t follow trends that way.

With this brand, I tend to go with what I see when I intend to make a purchase (usually during a sale) so collections don’t quite sway me very much.

Do you feel the same way? Or do you feel an insane desire to wear a Magic Bunny bag and MUST.GET.IT.NOW! ? 🙂

Hello Paris! I’ve never owned a LeSportsac bag as I always find their designs rather childish, to a certain extent! I think these designs have just proved my point =) Happy Easter, by the way! xx

Haha Happy Easter S! Some designs are childish, that’s for sure. But some are cute and simple and I like those 🙂

I do not go for their latest/limited collections as they can be quite pricey. What I do is during Isetan members’ day sales, I would first search for discounts of 50% upwards, next I would then scout for the designs that appeal to me and lastly choose the shape and size that works best for me.

Ahh… you must be the one fighting me for the discounting designs then! 😉 hehe… I do the exact same thing you do. Shop amongst the discounted lines – I’m not fussed by how old or new the designs are so long as I like them 🙂

I don’t have a bag from this brand. Always makes me think that it is not worth the price. Quality is good…but for retail prices that you can get a leather bag…nah.

Yes! Hence my never buying them without a discount! hehe… At the prices I get them at, I think they are good for the money

I’m actually rather fond of Lesportsac, but purely for their whimsical prints. I love cute prints and LSS gave me a “legitimate” reason to go for whimsy at my (rather old) age, as afterall, they aren’t cheap here in our region and I couldn’t afford them when I was younger. My first foray into LSS was at the marked-down section in DFS many long years ago, but back then, they are mainly floral prints and not the cute ones we can see today. The only items I’ve ever paid full retail price on (in USD) are bags in the Alice print and the Beauty Bar print. However, in USD, their retail price is still cheaper than our “discounted” price (the cute ones don’t usually last till clearance, so I wouldn’t even try waiting till then). For the AIR collection, I’m loving their Double-Trouble tote. I have the Snackville print, which is very cute! The only designs calling to me from their latest AIR collection are the Camo Bondi and NYC prints, but I probably wouldn’t get them unless I come across an irresistible offer!

The cuter they are the less likely we’d see them go on sale – although I do sometimes still see Tokidoki prints pop up at the counters on discount. I do like one or two designs from the Spring collection notably the simple blue striped one that looks very nautical. But like you unless it comes with a nice pricetag, I probably will wait 😉

Well there might be those who can pull it off with a bit of quirky fashion 🙂 I’m not one of those, sadly or I think it’d be a really fun piece.

I prefer the Joyrich if I had to choose, but I’m into the more traditional prints overall.

The bunny on the bag looks slightly deranged… but that’s just my opinion… 🙂

I love LeSportsac for the functionality and the cutesy print, but only get them during sales. The only Artist in Residence that caught my eye was the Fifi Lapin ones sometimes back.

These ones aren’t too pretty. Especially that quilted patent black design, even worse there’s also a patent pink one in the collection. There are nicer prints in the Spring collection but with all LeSportsac prints you have to pick & choose 😀

Ahhh I remember the Fifi Lapin ones! The rabbit ones right? I wonder what’s the fascination with rabbits! LOL… And yes I much preferred the Spring collection – guess it appeals to different sectors of the market 😀

Hi Paris. I like LeSportSac but then the collection is… so so for me. I love my Livvy bag from them though but they are a discontinued it! I am like so in love with it coz I can’t carry Deluxe Everyday nor their Classic Hobo… sadness…. Since then I haven’t been getting anything much from LeSpartSac. 🙁

It’s an unusual Chinese New Year this year. It’s the first time since I left home that I did not make an early morning drive home for CNY for the reunion dinner (I always do so to beat traffic). It’s the first time I’m spending CNY in KL. It’s the first time my hair is looking such a mess for CNY 😂
Regardless, we do this not for ourselves but for others so we can have more joyful CNY celebrations to come.
