Well not quite my Dressing Room. Its more like “our Dressing Room” 🙂
Dressing Room is actually an online women’s clothing store based in Hong Kong. I’d happened to come across it once or twice in my online trawls but it wasn’t until one of the co-owners, Seline, approached me, that I took a closer look at it.
I know I’ve said many a time that I’m afraid of shopping for clothes online. I’ve shopped before a long time ago, but I stopped when I found I was getting clothes of quite shoddy material that did not fit their description. Understandably therefore, I was a little reluctant to get into this again … but the dresses I saw on Dressing Room were too nice to refuse!
Seline offered to send me 2 dresses and in the process of browsing the site, I purchased another 2 for Chinese New Year! 😀 Talk about being impulsive 😀 I basically went from owning 0 dresses bought online to owning 4! My favourite one is above (a Karen Millen design) and I’ll show you the others below. Seline and Jennifer (co-owners of Dressing Room) have kindly offered a discount code for MWS readers, which I’ll share below 😀
What attracted me to the dresses on Dressing Room were the designs available. Most are available in small quantities and I liked how they tended towards being tailored and fitted. They also tended to look more office friendly, rather than many flouncy casuals I see. Fashion depends a lot on an individual’s style and the dresses there fit my style, much to my disconcert – because I’ve already marked a couple more dresses I’d like to pick up! 😛
My biggest concern was whether the dresses would fit me. The measurements on the site are helpful, and I’m happy to say, accurate. What Dressing Room does is show you the measurements of the dress lying flat. So all you have to do is find a dress you own in a similar design, lie it flat and compare the measurements. I pushed my luck with one of the dresses I picked and true enough, when it got here it was actually a little tight across the hips – my fault for being ambitious, not theirs 😛
Prices are in HKD but you can check the prices in your local currency too, by toggling the currency changer at the top of the page. What I might have preferred, and what the girls at Dressing Room might want to consider, is to have a more friendly browsing system. At present, navigation is via the slider at the bottom of the screen but I’d prefer using a page style browsing which I think is friendlier.
And here are the other dresses I picked up.
I can’t pose to save my life so you’ll have to do with those stiff mannequin shots 😛 If you’ve gone over to check out the site, then you might have the same reaction I had – the dresses appear a little pricey. But when I received them, I was very happy with the quality. I couldn’t get dresses of that quality in stores here with those sorts of prices. I am getting quite picky about my clothing these days.
Another thing I might add is that the dresses did come with labels on them. The navy blue one is a Bebe, the asymmetrical one is a BCBG and the grey tweed is a Chloe. The brown one above said Karen Millen. However, they don’t state the brands on the website, preferring instead to just use a description. I asked Seline about this and here was her reply “Some of our clothes are actually factory overruns from the original manufacturer for the labels although we are not able to authenticate them and some are good quality look-alikes / spin-offs of designer labels. Whichever it is, we assure they are good quality clothes for our customers.”
If its the real deal then goodness! Its a steal! By not saying anything on the website, no one is misled into thinking they are anything but a nice design you liked, and I appreciated that.
Payment is by Paypal and they ship out promptly. There is free shipping if you purchase above HKD1000. However I must make a note here for Malaysians. I was taxed on my purchase and when I checked around, I learnt that we in Malaysia are taxed on clothes especially if it exceeds RM500. That’s new to me. Seline did tell me they’d shipped to Malaysia before without issues so maybe I just got unlucky. Next time I order I’ll have to do so 1 or 2 at a time -more believable when the customs slip says its a gift, and to keep it below RM500. I don’t know about other countries so you’d have to check with your customs.
Stock and designs change often, so if nothing catches your eye this round, check back again or on their Facebook page. I know I will 😛

Hey Paris, thanks for introducing this website! I have been looking around for dresses for office wear that is unique and that won’t land me in the B**** who stole my look situation! haha…was in Singapore and bought some dresses from Lver and gg5 that was like SGD130 and this is a fantastic alternative..I have saw a couple I loved! Will take note of buying below RM500 per order to save from paying tax..and the discount is handy! Thanks again!
ps: you looked fabulous in those dresses!
Thank you 🙂
I’m glad you found stuff you like from them too 😀 I know exactly what you mean about not being able to find nice unique office clothes. I don’t have competition in the office but I don’t like walking in a mall and seeing someone wearing the same dress I have either 😀 Don’t forget to apply the discount code and I hope you don’t get taxed either! 🙂
Love that grey dress on you! So amazing! 😀
Thank you! Its one of my faves too… even if its the one that’s a bit tight >.<

hahahaha an office luncheon will be nice XD
Those dresses is preety but i alwasys face a problem that online purchase dress does not really best fit me , so i don’t want make myself regret after purchase..:P
I had the same fear but the measurements do help if you base it on a dress that already fits you well. I do prefer shopping in store for clothes still though. But its nice to have an option for something a little more unusual 😉
Gosh, that grey tweed dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you! x
Thank you S! If its really a Chloe that would have been quite a steal! 😛
How come you didn’t pose for the KM Pencil dress? You will look gorgeous in that dress 🙂
Haha Its a gorgeous dress and I absolutely love it but I couldn’t find the right place to take a decent looking picture 🙁 Perhaps it’ll feature in time to come 😉
Wow, great website–those are actually decent prices for good quality dresses! I love all the dresses on you, especially the Chloe 🙂
It is a great site. I’m only glad they don’t update so often or I’d be broke… well garbed but broke 😛
Which size did you get? These dresses are unbelievably gorgeous! Especially the grey Chloe but it seems to be unavailable unfortunately.
PS: Congrats on them being all able to fit wonderfully! I know all too well the pain when online loot arrive, and they don’t fit in one way or another ):
The dresses surprised me when they got here both in quality and fitting and I must say it was a very pleasant surprise! 😀 For the dresses I matched S in all (I think) except the blue striped one which was M. They aren’t conventional sizes, I must say as the measurements differ from dress to dress. So I’d really follow their method of matching the measurements to a dress that already fits and that helps a LOT!
Hey, they are all M size except for the Asymmetrical Printed Jersey Dress 🙂
Hi Paris – I think I must have missed your piece on BB Creams…..which one did you find the best? Cheers!
Eh? I liked the Vichy Aera BB Cream but I never did a piece on it… yet. You could see the other BB creams I’ve tried by checking out the BB Cream category.
Ok Thanks Paris- sorry, I haven’t quite worked out how to use your website yet so whenever I get an email posting, I just post a question there. So that is why I am asking about Bb creams in an email you sent on online shopping ! So sorry about it!
No worries! 😀 If you can’t find anything, just run a search – there’s a search box somewhere on the right which should get you the info you need or failing which, just leave the comment anyway. I will usually get round to it unless its on a much older post when I rarely respond 🙂
Wow! I like the grey too! You looked gorgeous Paris! Can see your beautiful body curve 😀
Thank you AnT! 😀 Still, not model material haha
I liked the last dress – I’m somewhat inclined towards the classics.^^ They look good on you. Just the right length so as not to make you look short. As for myself, I hate skirts and dresses. I’m much of a tomboy, really. Buuut I think I should reconsider, since it’s so hot here and I can’t really wear shorts to work, now can I? 😀
I’m into classics too. Less fuss and will last us longer 😉 I used to dislike wearing skirts and dresses but a dress makes one feel oh so feminine and pretty 😀 Also as you’ve pointed out, skirts lets our legs breathe and lets us wear it to work, without getting frowned on if we wear shorts 😉
