Clarins Rouge Prodige Paradise Pink : Is it almost paradise?

February 7, 2011 Paris B 15 Comments

I’m on a mission to incorporate pink lipsticks into my looks but I’m finding it surprisingly hard to do because I’m still a little hit or miss with shades and tones. Its great to keep finding new pink shades in the different brands though. It keeps things interesting. The latest foray is into Clarins Rouge Prodige lipsticks.

Clarins Rouge Prodige lipsticks were launched late last year. These lipsticks are touted to have long lasting intense colour and shine that lasts. Fascinating business, lipsticks 🙂

So since pink is on the menu, here’s what I ended up with. Clarins Rouge Prodige lipstick in Paradise Pink #102. In the tube it looks to be a warmed pink. A shade I might actually like and be able to wear.

On my lips however, it takes on a much cooler tone that surprised me.

I’ve worked out that cool pink lips are not my thing so it was a little disappointing in this regard. Still, colour aside, I can’t fault the texture. It swipes a little drier than you might expect but since it touts a long lasting formula, I’m not very surprised. It has to be a little less emollient to stick onto your lips.

It is creamy but not too creamy so the colour is actually a little less intense than what it looks in the tube. You can layer it of course and despite the cool tones, it isn’t as cool nor as intense as the Shiseido PK331 bubblegum pink lipstick I tried before this, which is a good thing really because I can practice on this one.

Here’s a swatch comparison of the Clarins Paradise Pink and Shiseido PK331 Divine pink lipsticks.

Yep! The Clarins one is infinitely more wearable for me so I’ll practice!

Pros: Longlasting formula, Applies smoothly, Not drying on my lips

Cons: Colour doesn’t swatch as it looks in the tube, Scented

I’m still working on the pink. I’m very sure there’s a pink out there for me, just like there’s a red lipstick out there for you! 😀

And speaking of red, I’m thinking maybe Fusion Red might be a better experiment with this range of Rouge Prodige lipsticks eh? 🙂 Not sure if I’m going to swatch this one. Might keep it as a nice surprise to come 😉 You can see swatches of Fusion Red on Lipglossiping who made me want to dig right into this lipstick… but I shall resist!

Have you tried the Clarins Rouge Prodige range of lipsticks? Are you brave enough to move out of your comfort zone for colours? I’m trying hard to break out of the rose/red lipstick rut but its HARD! 😛

Clarins Rouge Prodige lipsticks retail at RM83 each and come in loads of shades, at all Clarins counters and Clarins Institutes

Ah MAC has a ton of pink lipsticks. Too bad they dry my lips out something awful! 🙁

I swatched the whole collection in december but i haven’t sorted out the pictures. these two colours didn’t work for me for the obvious reason but again, you wear red really well. this was the first time i saw you wearing such girly pink and i think you did well with it too.

Aww thank you! I felt it was a little too cool and washed me out some. Maybe I just need to get used to it. did you pick up any? I’m sure some of the rosier shades would be gorgeous 🙂

It’s a pretty color, but I little bit soft. I don’t know if it will work on me.

I think it’ll work best with a stronger eye or it might cause you to look washed out. Pale lip colours do that 🙂

I bought Rosy Coral today. It surprises me coz’ it’s supposed to be a coral shade but appear pink with no hint of coral on my lips. But it’s nice and different. I’m longing for more now.

“Rosy” and “Coral” are 2 of my favourite colours for lips! Must be quite upsetting not to see any coral in there but you have me intrigued… 😉

this colour made you looked like you’re sick but it looked nice in the tube. Btw, is it a matte lipstick?
